I purchased this as a replacement for a more expensive RO system that had failed. After doing some online comparison shopping this model seemed like the most attractive. The purchase was made at a local Sears store and the price was discounted even more than quoted online. The installation was fairly smooth as it was a replacement and much of the water line was already in place. One drawback is the included water line was too short for my basement installation, this model is better suited for under sink with the included water line. The filtered water tastes great and there is plenty on tap with the four gallon storage tank. I do have some concerns about the durability of the faucet as much of it is plastic but so far so good!
The system does it job, but the faucet that came with was of poor quality. Trying to get the toggle bolts to wind up under sink was difficult with the three tubes. One of the toggles broke and I ended up having to order another faucet on line from **********.
Ten years ago we bought our first Sears RO. We were very pleased. Our son lives there now, and it still does a fine job. He replaced the RO cartridge after 7 years. We moved and bought a new RO for this home. We love it as well. Both times we mounted the tank and filters in basement to be cooler water temp and easy access to change filters. Both homes had city water. One house did not have a water softener, the second did. RO does fine with both. I had a plumber do the installation, but it looked easy.
We just had a proffesional install the system.. It took so long to purge it. 24 hours!!! Now we don't feel that the pressure at the refrigerator and faucet is enough.
It works fine, fairly easy to install. Not economical for replacement filters. Current prices of replacement filters: Pre and Post Filters (Sears) 42-38056 $49.99 Reverse Osmosis Membrane (Sears Parts Direct) 3857705 $58.67 Plus shipping = More than the whole system cost if the first place. .
