Kenmore Chest Freezer – Stackable Storage that Fits
This Kenmore Elite chest freezer 1658 balances rapid freezing with long-term storage and smart organization so it’s ready to load with groceries, garden harvests and big catches alike. A spacious 24.9 cu. ft. interior gives you plenty of room to stock up, while its horizontal orientation means plenty of stackable storage. Designed to deliver icy temperatures and lock tight for energy efficiency when you’re away, it’s perfect for your kitchen, basement or garage.
- From meats and fish to fresh vegetables from the garden, Quick Freeze speeds the preservation process by dropping temperatures rapidly, locking in both color and flavor.
- Lift-out baskets keep smaller, daily necessities within reach to simplify storage and make it easy to move when it’s time to reach deep.
- Built to quickly customize your freezer's interior, movable dividers help easily separate items, add support for more stable stacking, and provide faster access to frozen foods.
- A combination of flashing lights and alarm sounds lets you know when freezer temperatures are on the rise, helping prevent spoiled food and melted ice cream.
- Bright interior lighting provides clear visibility that helps you find food, ingredients, treats and more quickly.

Hard to beat the price, so far the other two are running strong. This is my third. The other 2 are only one year old so it is hard to say how good they are in only a year. I will be needing 2 more in the next 12 months...hopefully later than sooner.
Purchased in March, just plugged it in on 6/26/14. Received our meat on the 27th. It's been 5 days since it was plugged in and it seems cold (our meat was frozen solid so could have helped) but the lid doesn't seal and the regular food (muffins, ice cream, jam, etc) are soft. I've had a Sears freezer for the past 30 years (still have an old Kelvinator) and believed it to be a good product. We'll see what the repair man has to say. Very disappointed.

I had this freezer for 13 months then the thermostat ( can be replaced for a mere $68 plus $15.99 shipping and $4 tax and no labor included) went bad and in a matter of 12 hours everything went from a deep frozen state; to a turkey that was above the compressor that was actually cooking because the compressor didn't shut off (which made it like an oven) and the alarm never worked and hundreds of dollars of food wasted, i write this awesome review.
Got the freezer 18 months ago and did not buy any extended warranty. I expect it to last decades since it is such a basic item. Last week the low battery alarm went off. I put in a new battery but it won't reset. The audible alarm is migraine inducing and won't go away. Had service out to look at it. They called the manufacturer who said. "Oh yes, that is the control board. That will be $430 + including labor to replace." From looking at other reviews, I see this is not a rare problem with these freezers. So I either spend 450 on a new board with a 90 day warranty. Disable the alarm and live with a defective freezer. Or replace it, I could get a brand new one at Sears for a mere $690 or something like that. For now the alarm speaker is disabled, but I am still grumpy. I say not devastating, because the freezer function still works fine. No food was spoiled in the making of this particular debacle.

We had an old Kenmore that lasted over twenty years. It was running all the time and using up power. This new one is longer and not as deep as the old one the dividers are nice and the display of the temp.
This freezer is huge! Great for buying bulk! I live out in the country and I need to have lots on hand to choose from. I love the fact that it has an alarm in case of power outages, also a concern living out in the boonies! Love it!
