Great KitchenAid Alternative, Buy it if you make bread!!!

I have bought both a kitchenaid artisan stand mixer and this mixer and tried them side by side.

The recipe I made was a simple pizza dough with a maximum of 3 cups of flour and yeast and water (won't disclose whole recipe :-))

                                           Kenmore Elite                                                      Kitchenaid

Noise           Louder, but consistent sound (no grinding noise)           Less Loud, but ginding noises can be heard on first use

Speed                                   Same                                                                   Same

Power                                400watts                                                             325 watts

Warranty                         5 year replacement included                          1 year replacement included

Price                                      179                                                                        299

Dough Mixing Hook                 Actually kneads dough                                     Moves it around the bowl

Mixing Light                       YES                                                                            NO

Number of Mixing Bowls                2 (5Qt, and 3Qt)                                            5 Qt

Attachments                       All KitchenAid Attachments                                 All KitchenAid Attachments

Standard Use: If you use this mixer for just cake baking and cupcakes and whipcream creation then you need to probably get the kitchenaid if you want a wide range of colors. But if you want to make pizza dough or wheat breads or other things on a daily or even weekly basis you need to get this mixer because both will probably strip their gears out  over the next five years but only one has a five year warranty and local replacement. So make the smart decision like I did, a mixer is going to be loud no matter what but if you want bread for home then you need to buy this kenmore Elite Stand Mixer

Kenmore Elite 5-Quart Stand Mixer is not a good investment
My husband bought this for me as a gift. I used it the first time on Thanksgiving. It began leaking gear oil out of the area above the beaters. Although I was not happy, I figured it was a fluke and returned it to Sears for another. I got out the new mixer on Christmas and, low and behold, the bowls will not lock into the base, rendering the machine unusable. I will be returning this mixer soon and I will not be purchasing the same brand of stand mixer.

Price difference worth drawbacks?

A good mixer for the price, but it has drawbacks. I bought this in black (sleek) at a really good price a couple years ago. It works well and I like the work light, but it is so loud I'm considering wearing ear plugs when I use it for an extended time. I use the food grinder attachment to make large batches of mashed potatoes and the fruit strainer to make large amounts of applesauce. I have to wedge a folded piece of foil in between the attachment and the mixer to keep the attachment from wobbling. I also got the ice cream maker as I was told all the KA attachments/accessories fit this mixer, but the adapter for the paddle does not stay on the mixer. I'm still using it with extreme care and I don't make ice cream very often. Also, somehow a piece of the finish chipped off the beater. I haven't banged or dropped it and I always wash by hand. If I could afford the Artisan, I would get that instead. There were no reviews when I purchased mine. I sure wish there had been.

Why buy higher priced machine?

Love the red! I've wanted one of the [name brand] stand mixers for a long time and now I own the same quality with a Sears guaranty. I bought it at Black Friday pricing, too. Don't hesitate buying this mixer!!!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Not bad for the price

Got this as a gift from hubby. It's more affordable (and available) than the red Kitchenaid stand mixer. It seems to bop up each time it's mixing, and is also quite loud. I checked to make sure everything was right but it still does it. Otherwise it works good, and does the job in my kitchen

I would recommend this product to a friend.

not sure yet

the head jiggles up and down when kneading basic white 4 cup dough on "2". Was told not normal and to return. The second one does the same thing. Anyone else with this problem? Maybe it's normal. Otherwise works great

The mixer works like a charm.

We bought this two years ago and I have no complaints. We use this mixer twice a week for two years with zero problems. This compares to a Kitchenaid (which I think is made by Kitchenaid) for a lot less.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Top-notch quality stand mixer!

I bought this for my wife to use for her side job; baking business, and she loves it! She raves about how well it blends dough compared to her old stand mixer and hand mixer. The build quality is excellent, and it comes with two bowls and several attachments. It embodies Kitchen Aide quality at a much more affordable price.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Overall
Really good mixer

I not only like the eye-popping "candy apple red" color, but this mixer works very, very well. I like that it includes not only the 5-quart bowl but a 3-quart bowl, as well. I made a heavy carrot cake batter today and threw in the kitchen sink -- 3 cups of carrots, pineapple, coconut and pecans -- and this mixer handled it with no trouble, and there was no residual flour or dry ingredients in the bowl when I stopped the mixer and used a spatula to get down to the bottom of the bowl, as I had to do even with the Kitchen Aid mixer I had. It's a little noisy, but no more so than my old Kitchen Aid. I wish it came with a cover for the machine as it sits on the counter to keep it clean. Otherwise, I'm very pleased!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

KENMORE ELITE 5 QT. STAND MIXER IS A WINNER!!

AS WITH OUR OTHER APPLIANCE PURCHASES, WE DID A LOT OF RESEARCH AND REVIEW READING BEFORE BUYING THIS OUTSTANDING MIXER A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. MY WIFE AND I HAVE USED IT MANY TIMES AND IT PERFORMS GREAT! MY WIFE HAS ALSO PURCHASED ATTACHMENTS TO USE WITH IT....SHE HAS MADE HOMEMADE ICE CREAM MANY TIMES, WHICH ALWAYS COMES OUT DELICIOUS! THE BUILT-IN LIGHT IS ALSO A NICE LITTLE FEATURE THAT MOST OTHER MIXERS DON'T HAVE!

I would recommend this product to a friend.
