This is the worst product ever. It flooded my garage 4 times and Sears has replaced almost every part on it and it still does not work. They do not stand behind their products or the warranty. Instead they want me to buy another more expensive one from them. It is the worst product I have ever owned and would never buy anything again from Sears. The service department is terrible as they keep coming and saying it is fixed only to have it break again within hours of them leaving.

The water softener seems to be working okay. We still have some hardness but I think that's due to the water and not the softener. We had to have it installed by our own plumber as the Sears vendor who installs for them was difficult to get an appointment with and had poor communication. This is the 2nd water softener we purchased from Sears. We had a warranty with the first one that was useless. The softener never seemed to work right and after 5 years we replaced it. Each year we had someone come out to the house to fix it and each time it was a different tech. They all admitted not knowing anything about its actual function. All they did was clean it out. I can do that! The warranty isn't worth it with techs who don't know how it functions. But considering how much more water softeners cost anywhere else, I'll stick with Sears.
The water softener has worked great. I used it for my home and immediately noticed the difference in the feel, taste, and color of the water. The price is affordable and installation can be easy.
The first one that we bought and installed had a hole in the resin reservoir. What a hassle to take it out, empty the salt, load it in the car, go get a new one and then go through the whole install again. So far, the new one is working fine.
After investigating water softeners I keep coming back to the sears models. I installed a sears unit back in 2004 while installing a furnace and ac system. I must say I never had to go back for service on the softener it still runs with only having to add pellets. I need to install a softener for a new customer and I will only use Kenmore.
This is a high efficiency water softener that i purchased for our home. we have extremely hard water and i have this set to 85 and our water taste delicious !!! No more yellow in shower and toilet!! Everything that water touches is beautiful!!

I've had the bypass valve on this unit break twice on me. The last was when I was out of town and my entire finished basement was destroyed. The plastic bypass valve has been reported on Sears and Kenmore websites as being too flimsy and multiple people having cracked bypass valves and flooding. Both times, the valve assembly cracked and blew out right at the outlet connection and the flimsy plastic clip.
We have VERY hard water...tested at 50. This water softener is the best one we've ever had. Now we never run out of soft water. Excellent settings to accommodate our needs. Larger valve allows for more water flow into the house which is very convenient.
