Product Description

Kenmore Progressive Upright Vacuum - Hardwood & Carpet

The Kenmore Progressive upright vacuum offers a smooth transition from carpet to bare floor and vice versa with an agitator shut-off switch. This vacuum also has Kenmore's Power-Flow feature, which keeps air flowing through a dual chamber even when the bag is full. Ideal for homeowners with allergies, the Kenmore Progressive upright vacuum uses HEPA Media filtration to trap dust, dander and pollen, leaving you with cleaner floors and cleaner air. The super handy performance indicator notifies you if you need to change or check the bag.

  • The 3D Inducer Motor™ combines the power of three motors to deliver powerful beltless suction that cuts down on maintenance and repairs.
  • Designed to make cleaning-up after pets a cinch, the Pet PowerMate™ attachment lifts hair, dander and more from furniture, rugs and carpeting in seconds.
  • A super long 14-foot hose lets you reach further, helping cut down on outlet swapping, and giving you the reach you need to get the house cleaned fast.
  • A 30-foot power cord goes a long way, enabling you to cover the length and breadth of most rooms, without having to move the plug into different outlets.
  • The Reach-Out telescoping wand helps you get to places you normally couldn’t reach, cleaning window treatments, ceiling fans and other above-floor surfaces without a step ladder.
  • The True HEPA certified filter can be trusted to remove almost all significant allergens from air flowing through the vacuum, so you can breathe easy.
  • The LED electronic indicator lets you know when the dust bag is full or the hose is clogged, so you can fix it quickly and get back to cleaning.
  • A handle-embedded brush on/off switch gives you the power you need to move the vacuum from a carpeted surface to a bare floor, so you get the performance you need, on the fly.

Almost perfect blend of upright- and canister vac functionality
If you are looking for a competent upright vacuum at a reasonable price, this is definitely a model to consider. In 10 months of use, I have found: Highs: -Cleans carpet well; has 4 height adjustments; agitation effective without being overly harsh -Cloth Bag exceptional at retaining dirt; find very little in chamber or subsequent filters (the foam pre-motor filter and final HEPA). -?Clean Air? design filters debris from air stream prior to fan, much like a canister vac. -Excellent suction at hose, and with 14? of reach including tools, it can be used with legitimate canister functionality. Note, though, that I had to purchase additional tools to round out the tools usage, including a floor nozzle and nicer: dust brush, upholstery brush. Also had a spare extension wand from another vac that comes in handy. -Hose has a clip to keep the force of tugging on the hose near the base of the machine to help prevent it from tipping over while using tools (but the hose will not be fully extended with its use) -Though not the lightest vacuum at 19 pounds, it maneuvers well -Brush roll can be turned off for bare floors and throw rugs, and when using tools, so you don?t inadvertently damage flooring, etc. -Relatively quiet for a vacuum -Long cord length of 30 feet allows you to move far from an outlet Lows: - The optional synthetic cloth bags are pricey - Hose is awkward to remove/replace from holder in some spots, as is the locking mechanism between hose and tools. -The standard complement of onboard tools is lacking in functionality and quality; had to buy additional tools -The extendable wand is flimsy when extended; would be structurally better as two separate wands -The ?full bag? light, while a novelty, just measures reduced air flow. So, it comes on during certain tool usage. I suppose it?s helpful if you pick up lots of fine particles that clog up bag pores, as it would tell you that the effectiveness is reduced even though bag is not full.

The Kenmore Progressive Upright Vacuum is not a good choice

Do not buy this vacuum cleaner. The brush motor broke after two years and it costs almost as much as the vacuum to replace. When it did work it was very heavy and cumbersome to use. I was very disappointed as I grew up with Kenmore brands but this product does not live up to the reputation.

Bought one---defective, return it 2nd was also defective

Bought Nov 25, 2013. About five weeks later, put on/off switch in ON position, vacuum didn't turn on. Sears replaced it at no charge. Brought the new one home, put it together and put the switch in On position---and the vacuum didn't turn on.

Terrible

We bought this because kenmore has a great reputation and consumer reports said it was good. All we have had is problems. We took our first one back, they could not figure out what was wrong so they gave us a new one. Now the new one has completely burned out in a year. We wanted something to last. They have no record of trading the first one out so our warrenty was up Dec. 2013. All we used it for was rugs ....should not be that hard on it. Do not buy if you want something that lasts. Too cheaply made.

New Vacuum works well

My uncle Max saw this vacuum reviewed in Consumer reports magazine. It received a "********" designation. He asked me to purchase this item for him and I went to my local Sears store and picked it up. He appeared to be pleased with it's operation. The transaction was easy as was the device setup.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Belt breaks repeatedly

I bought this vacuum after reading lots of favorable reviews as well as the Consumer Reports. Unfortunately it has been such a disappointment because the belt keeps breaking. We've only used this vac maybe 5 times and the belt has broken during 3 out of these 5 uses. We have hard wood floors throughout the house with some area rugs, so it's not like we're giving the vacuum it a huge workout. Anyway, I would advise others to steer away from this particular model.

Works wonderfully

We bought this based on Consumer Report rating. We have pets and a lot of tile and wood floors. I did not realize how poorly the old vacuum was until the first time I used this. Everything came up.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

It eats belts

I bought it based on a review that it was good with pet hair pickup and ignored the warnings about the belt breaking. I have gone through 3 belts in 3 uses of the vacuum. If you can find belts for it, as there is a "supplier problem". I bought three belts because they were so hard to find, will return the third belt with the vacuum. Very disapppointed in Kenmore for this product. Had my last Kenmore vacuum 20 years.

Love this vacuum

This vacuum is lighter than my Eureka Boss. It's easy to maneuver. And I can easily switch between bare floor and carpet. It has a really long cord. I've only had it a month, but so far it does a really good job. It does a good job on the dog hair!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

The Best

I bought this for my daughter who needed a vacuum.I have this vacuum for several years. It is so versatile. It has a lot of power and really cleans our carpet and tile. It is very compact. I can reach over 8 feet to clean the ceilings and above the cabinets. I have small rugs and upolstery that I can clean with the smaller brush that actually works like a minature vacuum. It has only 2 accessories a long tube that cleans the baseboards and a small brush. It doesn't need anything else. I use a hepa bag and it keeps all the dust contained and very easy to dispose of without getting dust up your nose. It still is working great after 4 years. I love it.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
