Kenmore Progressive Canister Vacuum - Superior Cleaning
Cleaning floors and furniture is now a simple process with the Kenmore Progressive canister vacuum. A 2-motor system, retractable cord storage, Stair Grip and variable speed settings make carpet and bare floor cleaning a cinch. This vacuum's true HEPA filter keeps pet dander and dust out of the air so you can breathe easy. From the 7-foot hose that swivels 360 degrees and reaches the highest surfaces to the Horsehair dusting brush for fine wooden furniture and floors, this vacuum has the tools to get the job done.
- Designed to make cleaning-up after pets a cinch, the Pet PowerMate™ attachment lifts hair, dander and more from furniture, rugs and carpeting in seconds.
- Ideal for all types of cleaning, the variable speed control lets you adjust the vacuuming speed based on the amount of dust and dirt you're picking up.
- The exclusive Stair Grip™ feature keeps the canister body upright and securely in place while the stairs get cleaned, for solid performance and increased safety.
- A 6-foot hose reaches from floor to ceiling, around corners and far beyond, so no matter where you need to clean, dirt cannot escape.
- Quick to connect and featuring an array of attachments, the CrossOver Handle rapidly transitions the vacuum from carpet to flooring, crevice cleaning to pet hair pick-up.
- The True HEPA certified filter can be trusted to remove almost all significant allergens from air flowing through the vacuum, so you can breathe easy.

This our second kenmore vacuum. We like canister bag vacuums. We bought our original one in 2002 it lasted 10 years that one was rated 5 star. We bought this new vacuum 4/16/2012. It work wonderful for two years in july 2014 the Powermate head developed a short in it. So it makes the vacuum basically useless! Spoke with repairman in area 7th identical Kenmore vacuum with exact same issue that HE has seen! One of the vacuum was the repairmans. To fix this problem you must purchase a new Powermate. If you go to sear"s web site they'll sell you one for $304.99 . A new vacuum of Kenmore inferior quality only cost $269.99. Thank you for your time.
After only 15 months of occasional use the wand release has fallen off several times and now the pile adjustment level has stopped working. Sears won't even talk about it because it's out of warranty. Look elsewhere for a vac that's built better.

The machine is doing a great job, I have had Sears vacs in the past. I have actually recommended this vac to other people. My daughter has also had a Sears vac for years and really likes it. It isn't too heavy if you have to carry it up and down stairs. I don't feel it is too expensive either.
About a year and a half ago, my very old Kenmore canister was starting to show its age, so I decided it was time to get a new vacuum. I wanted to see what all the Dyson hype was about, and my husband surprised me with their canister vac at Christmas. At first I thought it was great. I mean, it's a $500 vacuum, so it MUST be awesome, right? Wrong. I finally got fed up with that thing and sold it and bought myself a shiny new Kenmore Progressive canister, and I couldn't be happier. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because I'm not sure that I like the changes that they made to the attachments, though I haven't really used them yet. Also, I wish that they'd made the door to where you store the attachments on board open and close more smoothly. Otherwise, I couldn't be happier to be back to the power of a motorized head and no more trying to dump out a canister. I prefer replacing bags, it's just less mess. One change they made from my old Kenmore to this one that I do like very much is the variable suction. It's great for use on more delicate rugs.
First, let me say I really do enjoy using this vacuum. It cleans perfectly, handles easily and is all around a pleasure to operate. Having said that let me add--the R&D people should not "fix:" something that is not broken. Having the attachments on the handle may sound like a neat idea--but it isn't. They make the handle top heavy, causing it to tip over whenever you want it to stand there while you move a piece of furniture or just plugging it in. Also, what did they do to the attachment cover. I've had Kenmore canisters for 40 years--the covers have always come off and back on easily for cleaning. Today, I tried for an hour to put the cover back on and finally took it to the store for a technician to put it back. I really do like this vacuum and will certainly purchase another when needed--but please can we go back to the original form without all these "improvements?"
The suctions is powerful and the vacuum is easy to use and performs well. The attachments are useful. The hose gets detached from the canister a bit too easily. Otherwise, it's great.
