Designed to meet the needs of professional chefs and cooking enthusiasts, the Kenmore pro gas drop in cooktop 3100 is part of the Kenmore PRO collection. The heavy-duty knob controls with electronic ignition are of premium professional quality, and offer excellent, concise flame control. The cooktop features a 21,000 BTU Bridge Burner, 17,200 BTU Power Burner and 5,000 BTU Simmer Burner for all ranges of cooking needs, while dishwasher safe continuous grates make for easy cleanup. Every chef deserves a Kenmore gas cooktop at home.

  • Designed to kick out serious heat, the Power Burner funnels 17,200 BTUs of flame power to your cooking surface, so steaks sear, eggs scramble and water boils quickly.
  • The 21,000 BTU Bridge Burner works in individual 7,000 BTU sections for smaller skillets and pans, or all at once, creating one big burner for griddles, stew pots and Dutch ovens.
  • The 5,000 BTU Simmer Burner was designed to deliver reliable warming and ultra-low simmering with a consistent, precise flame, cutting down on scorched sauces and dried out dishes.
  • Sturdy, stable and supportive, continuous range grates make transferring loaded pots and pans to different burners quick and easy, cutting down on spills and preventing accidents.

Perfect Preformance and Looks for the Price

I replaced our old gas cooktop and after searching and searching came to the kenmore Pro 30 inch drop in to go into our island.

A friend of mine works for Whirlpool and stated that the kenmore pro is the same as any other High end appliance.  Not only did I get the look I wanted but I got great preformance, the Griddle is Awsome for breafast and warming tortilla's etc.

Just bought my new dream home and will be doing all Kenmore Pro just wish they did a trash compactor to match the Built in 46 Kenmore Pro frig, and 30' Double Kenmore pro wall Oven.

The only flaw I have with the cooktop, is it sometimes can be challenging to keep the Grates cleaned , and Stainless around burners as I am a neat freak and keep it polished at all times.

Also check the pricing at the Sears Outlets sometimes you can get over 50% off or more on these.  I just picked up the Kenmore pro Warming drawer that Retails for $999, for $ 99

 Highly recomend

Bought the Kenmore Pro series (wall oven, 30 inch cook top and warming drawer). Cook top is just OK. we were expecting a big improvement over our old cheapo Hotpoint cook top but the new one does not perform much better...looks great though!! The 17,200 BTU burner is the work horse and is the one we use 90% of the time. Unfortunately, it quit working after only 60 days (repair guy comes tomorrow). The unit has a small "simmer" burner and the name says it all...it's only good for keeping something warm after the 17,000 BTU burner does its job. The "bridge" burner works pretty good with the grill that comes with it but other than that...it only seems to be good for keeping something warm after (again) the 17,000 BTU burner does it's job. The problem, as you can see, is that only one burner does a decent job. If we had it to do over again...would not buy it. We compared this unit to Viking, Wolf and the other top brands. Bought the Pro line because of looks (very nice looking) and price, a lot less expensive. Maybe the five burner Pro cooktop is the answer....

Overall
only 1 decent burner - you'll replace knobs annually at $150

As others have discussed there really is only one burner that you'll end up cooking on. It does very well. The black on the knobs will wear out and start to look horrible in about a year. They run $33 each, plus shipping, tax, etc... You'll get a 90 day warranty on them. The black print on the stove will start to wear out and erase no matter how careful you are cleaning it. No way I would reccommend this stovetop.

Overall
Do not buy this Cooktop.

I now have to replace the knobs on my cooktop for the second time. This is the second time in less than three years they have had to be replaced.  The first time a technician came out and replaced them with the stainless steel base as it was defective.  I understand that parts wear out but this seems to be a bit much for a very expensive cooktop.  There is a definite design flaw in this cooktop as the biggest burner is closest to the knobs.  If you put a big pan on the burner then the heat comes out from under the pan and melts the knob(s).  In addition, the knobs are plastic with a foil coating and cost about $50 each to replace.  I think that it price is way too high especially considering the frequency in which they need to replaced.  Should a customers have to pay over $200 a year to keep their cook top working correctly?  As with the other review, we use the big burner over 90% of the time as the other burners work only in a warming fashion.  I would never buy this again but after laying out money for Sears best I have little left to buy another cooktop.
