in line water filter for Fridge
Very easy to assemble even for a "non-handyman." Took about 15 minutes hooking it up to the waterline under the kitchen sink. Water taste, form the fridge door water dispenser and ice is vastly improved. Only 4 stars in some areas as I would like for this filter to block a greater number of germs, chemicals etc...

Tried to go cheap and it doesn't work
If you got the filter with screw in connectors...great. If it's the press-in. BEWARE you may get a mess on your hands. The screw in type uses plumers tape to stop leaks. This uses pressure rings which may or may NOT.

Refrigerator Filter

The Kenmore refrigerator filter is great. Sure makes a difference on how good the water is. We love it. Trouble is you have to change it every 6 months and they are rather pricey.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

New version is terrible

The older version with screw in connectors worked great and filtered great. I recently bought 4 new filters and got a different version with push in connectors. The connectors seem to work okay, but the filter hisses and sputters and spits out white milky water. I tried three of the new ones and all did the same thing. After three bowls of water, they were still sputtering and spitting out cloudy, milky water. I had one older version left (with the screw in connectors) and it worked beautifully. I don't understand how a product can go from so good to so bad. Old version 5 stars. New version 1 star.

BEWARE!! THIS FILTER DOES NOT MATCH THE PHOTO!!

I ordered this filter online and picked up at my local store. Much to my suprise the fittings are NOT the screw in type but I gave it a try thinking maybe it is a better design. WRONG!! This filter is NOTwhat is shown in the picture. The fittings do NOT screw into the filter as shown in the photograph which causes water to leak from the filter making a HUGE mess!! Go back to the original design!!

Do not buy this one.

I bought this filter.  And it works great, after you spend another ten bucks buying brass connectors so it does not leak.  I spent more money and time trying to get this thing to stop leaking.  Go to ***** and buy the same thing, with all metal built in connectors for ten bucks less.  They need to ditch the plastic fittings, they are worthless in my opinion.  On top of that you cannot buy parts for it, so when you want to replace one little part you cannot, its a shame.  Sears used to be alot better, I go to different stores now when I can.

Kenmore Premium Regrigerator Filter

We have been using this model filter on the water line leading to our refrigerator for several years now. We prefer the premium filter over the regular filter because it does more than just improve the taste and smell of the water; it filters out lead and cysts like Giardia. We needed a plumber friend to help with the initial installation, but from then on we've been able to do the periodic replacements of the filter ourselves. It installs fairly easily. Screwing the nozzles onto each end and wrapping the white teflon tape around the threads of the nozzles can be mildly challenging. After that, it sometimes takes a little effort to get the filter nozzles to snap into their respective sockets attached to the water line. Your experience may differ. Overall, we've been very satisfied. My biggest gripe would be that the price has gone up over the past few years from $29.98 to $39.98.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
