Cool off or warm up with the Kenmore portable air conditioner (model 72012) with heating and dehumidifying functions. You can turn off the cooling and use it just as a dehumidifier. In winter, use it as a space heater—its evolutionary design makes it up to four times more efficient than most other portable units for heating.
The unit can be installed indoors or out. The remote lets you set the temperature, fan speed and timer from a distance. The adjustable vent and 3 air speeds let you control the air's direction and force.

This unit is very functional. It has heated the room to 68 for weeks now. The room is a little larger than its specs suggest but it has performed very well. Easy installation. The window panel for the vent is very flimsy and leaks so be prepared to add foam or insulation. Overall very pleased

I've been loyal to Kenmore and Sears for a long time but this Kenmore appliance, 12,000 btu portable air conditioner thou maintains a good temperature for a big room (cool and warm), is tremendously noisy, besides when warming up, the fan speed is always to the top with no control over it. Not good at all for a bedroom nor even for a living room. When I bought it at Rego Park Sears, I was told that this unit was a perfect appliance for my house.

Very pleased with the air conditioner. Performs well, easy to move. No water to drain. It did throw the circuit breaker if I tried to use it on max cooling but I have TV etc on the same circuit and it worked fine at comfortable temp. I have 54" vertical window so I needed to make cut a couple of peices to seal the window.
this was very easy to get going straight out of the box. I would have given it 5 stars except that we have a sash window and the surround for the exhaust pipe does not allow the pipe to fit on our window. my husband made a wooden surround for the pipe, a few inches wider than the one supplied and this works well.
The unit was easy to set up. It cools a 400 sq. foot room nicely, and with a box fan set on high to move the air into adjoining rooms, it cools them a bit too, and nips the humidity on our whole first floor. The only drawback is that even on the lowest fan setting, it is pretty loud. I would not want this in a bedroom or a room adjoining one due to the noise factor.
The window kit provided is flimsy and a lot of modification is needed to standard windows to install. On top of that the hose exhaust on the unit is not a good fit and leaks the hot air exhaust into the room its supposed to be cooling. In addition the unit is incredibly loud and constantly runs. Even when he cooler kicks off and the just the fan is going its too loud. This unit is not meant to be installed inside in my opinion. The only way I can see this would even work would be to keep it outside and vent the cool air in, which it does provide you with instructions on how to do. Unfortunately for me thats not an option.
I bought a portable unit a couple of years ago for my mom it was easy to connect not a Kenmore. This unit piece that fits in the window is terrible. If you have a windowsill it won't fit because of the skimped on the plastic. The hose hits on the sill and won't fit . I had to cut pieces of wood to build it up. Even then there are gaps between the fittings so its not tight unless you put something in it. My home is 10 years old and has just regular windows. It is a wrestle to get this to operate and keep it vented out the window. I wouldn't recommend. I would take it back but in order to get the unit out of the box I had to rip the box. They say to pick it straight up out of the box but at 65 lbs and 3 ft tall you better be strong and tall to lift it that high. Very frustrating and disappointing to spend this much money to have to work this hard to get it fixed. I bought it because ac is broke at home and needed some relief till repairman could come
Easy to mount, no need for screws, stays on the floor. Need to cut some plastic to mount pipe thru the window. Rather noisy than quiet, but gives good air. Have a sleep mode and lower temperature of 63F. I can open upper part of double hang window during day.
Last weekend our central air went out. It was anticipated to take several weeks for repairs. This entire summer has been wicked and recently the temperature has been mid to uppers 90's. We purchased this unit over Labor Day and we are thrilled. It is powerful, efficient, and not too loud. It has allowed us and out multiple pets to remain in our home during then oppressive heat.....thank you, Kenmore!!
