Ratings & Reviews
Kenmore — trusted in the homes of more than 100 million Americans.
The Kenmore Intuition 31100 upright vacuum cleaner transitions between bare floors and carpet easily with fingertip controls on the handle. It also features a Power-Flow dual chamber bag system that provides sustained power to clean, even as the bag fills with dirt. It's HEPA Media filtration system captures maximum debris for cleaner indoor air.
The Kenmore 31100 upright vacuum also has a beltless Direct Drive agitator, which means there are no belts to replace. Its reach out wand and tools on-board allow this vacuum to clean floors and the on-board Pet HandiMate picks up stubborn pet hair.

When searching for a new vacuum the one main feature we wanted was the ability to vacuum not only rugs but also bare floors (hardwood floors). At the same time I refuse to pay $500 plus for a vacuum cleaner- it is against my conservative cheapskate upbringing. There a number of vacuums over $500 that fit the bill but when we discovered the Kenmore Intuition upright we were sold on the features and fell in love with the price.
You can go from carpet to bare floor with a finger switch on the handle which disengages the brush. You do have to do a manual adjustment to the height- a foot adjustment would be nice but it is a minor issue that almost all vacuums encounter.
The telescoping hose was another great feature that sold us on this unit. No more fumbling with the hose- trying to hook it into the machine before you can use it- all you do is pull it out of the holder and it is ready to use.
We feel more comfortable knowing the dirt we suck up is captured in a HEPA bag and not a cup that you have to emply. Doesn't the dust fly up when you empty those bagless units defeating the purpose of a HEPA vac?
Oh, did I mention this unit sucks. My wife almost sucked up a hall rug using it the first time. As much or more sucking power than those expensive vacuums.
I bought this model based on Consumer Reports positive review, and it confirmed CR's assessment. Easy to maneuver, easy to assemble. Haven't changed a bag yet, which is always a difficult proposition, which is why ordinarily I would go for a bagless design.
I bought this a year ago. It does a great job on both carpet and floors. I don't mind it being heavy because it is sturdy and the suction is great. The problem is it has no lower handle to assist you when doing the stairs. The user is forced to lift and maneuver the vacuum using the top of the handle while the bottom flops at the pivot. It there were a lower handle the user could better move the vacuum from stair to stair as well as avoiding the beater head from flopping when you get to the front edge of each stair. If you don't want to do stairs this is a great vacuum. I have looked to see if there were some place I could attach a handle but do not believe there is a study enough area to do that. I'm a male, 57, and go to the gym regularly. Believe me when I say it is difficult to use on stairs.
Had a 15-yr Kenmore. A week ago I bought a bagless Hoover and right off had problems. Took it back, bought this Kenmore Intuition Upright bagged vac...love it! Hoover was cheaper but made cheaper. Kenmore is sturdily build, works wonderfully. Am very well pleased. That's what I like about buying from Sears, if you don't like it (within a reasonable time) you can take it back and get something better.

This vacuum cleaner was easy to assemble. I bought it because it had a recommendation from Consumer Reports and they did not get it wrong. As with most vacuums the height of the head needs adjustment based on what works and not what the slider indicates...setting the height for medium carpet to get good vacuum for a low carpet.

This vacuum has great suction power, especially when the hose is used directly. Suction does decrease a bit when using the upright carpet functionality, but it still does the job well. The major downside of this vacuum is that it is extremely heavy and can get tiring to push around.
Got a new vacuum cleaner after reviewing it on consumer reports. Have only been using it for a month, but I love it already. The suction power is great and it transitions from hard wood floors to carpet with ease. A little bulky.
poor design makes hose very difficult to vacuum furniture. Curved hard plastic hose prevents being able to clean furniture. The curve requires odd twisting, turning to be able to position the pet tool on furniture. Very very difficult. Plus the pet tool quits turning the brush when it rests lightly on furniture. It does not work. don't buy this vacuum.

We just purchased this produce in Nov 13. We have not had the vacuum cleaner long enough to really know if we made a good choice or not. We have had tremendous products from Sears in the past and have no reason to expect otherwise.
