Ratings & Reviews
Kenmore — trusted in the homes of more than 100 million Americans.
The Kenmore Intuition 31100 upright vacuum cleaner transitions between bare floors and carpet easily with fingertip controls on the handle. It also features a Power-Flow dual chamber bag system that provides sustained power to clean, even as the bag fills with dirt. It's HEPA Media filtration system captures maximum debris for cleaner indoor air.
The Kenmore 31100 upright vacuum also has a beltless Direct Drive agitator, which means there are no belts to replace. Its reach out wand and tools on-board allow this vacuum to clean floors and the on-board Pet HandiMate picks up stubborn pet hair.

When searching for a new vacuum the one main feature we wanted was the ability to vacuum not only rugs but also bare floors (hardwood floors). At the same time I refuse to pay $500 plus for a vacuum cleaner- it is against my conservative cheapskate upbringing. There a number of vacuums over $500 that fit the bill but when we discovered the Kenmore Intuition upright we were sold on the features and fell in love with the price.
You can go from carpet to bare floor with a finger switch on the handle which disengages the brush. You do have to do a manual adjustment to the height- a foot adjustment would be nice but it is a minor issue that almost all vacuums encounter.
The telescoping hose was another great feature that sold us on this unit. No more fumbling with the hose- trying to hook it into the machine before you can use it- all you do is pull it out of the holder and it is ready to use.
We feel more comfortable knowing the dirt we suck up is captured in a HEPA bag and not a cup that you have to emply. Doesn't the dust fly up when you empty those bagless units defeating the purpose of a HEPA vac?
Oh, did I mention this unit sucks. My wife almost sucked up a hall rug using it the first time. As much or more sucking power than those expensive vacuums.
The suction in the machine is great. It cleans very well, however, it is too heavy I refuse to use because of the weight. It is a monster. So my husband bought it for me and he now vacuums for me. Great trade off.
I found a BRAND NEW NEVER USED,. I am guessing, someone read the reviews.I opens the bag area, Nothing there,Not a scratch, Turned it on and It works Like new,,...Seems like a really nice vac.
my parents had a Bissell power force for about 2 years. The Bissell was probably the worst vacuum we ever had. We just got a Kenmore and its a newer model than the picture shown. we paid about $280 for it and the regular price was $350. I set this vacuum up and started vacuuming and I go to say love this vacuum :) its bag was half full after the first use of it. The hose stretches up the stair case so I don't have to bring the vacuum up stair with me!!! The dyson hose almost broke off when I tried to stretch it up the stair case. its a very strong family vacuum!!! great job Kenmore for making this vacuum :) it also has a lot of power. this review doesn't describe the vacuum good enough you will just have to use it to see what I mean.
We selected this model because of the high rating from Consumer Reports ?. The vacuum suction was fine at first. My biggest complaint is the poor ergonomics. The hose is stiff and the bent area is not helpful. A straight hose would be easier to use and less likely to cause clogs. The way the hose has to be locked onto the base is extremely annoying. The canister/base is so heavy that it often tips over. Like many others have said, it is a pain to carry up stairs. Now after 20 months, it has no suction due to some issue with the Motor Protector.
Let me begin by saying I am not obsessed with vacuuming. My last vacuum lasted 10 years and I only replaced it when a wheel fell off and I'd lost an attachment or two. So I'm not picky. I just want an upright that is strong with a long cord and a good wand. I thought the Intuition would cover all of my needs. So wrong. While there is a long cord and the machine has good suction on the *carpet* setting, the wand is very poorly designed. First, the twist and lock mechanism that held the two parts together kept falling off, so eventually I had to wrap it with packing tape. Second, the hose that connects to the vacuum is very heavy and stiff, so it is hard to manipulate. Third, the bracket that holds the wand to the machine at the top snapped off after about 6 months of use. Fourth (holy cow!), the wand isn't nearly long enough. Considering that I'm only five feet tall, that's a big issue if you are much taller. You'll end up wishing you were a leprechaun by the time you finish your housework you're back will be so stiff. Last, the suction at the end of the wand is not nearly what it should be. In addition to the issues I have with the wand, there is the fact that the machine ways an absolute ton. Forget carrying it up and down the stairs much. And the weight means that if it isn't perfectly straight when I pull on it with the wand hose the whole thing crashes over behind me. I must say I hate everything about this vacuum. I wish I had returned it before it was too late.
All I did was take out the full bag and replace with a new bag. Turned back on and all that works is the light and the rotator. At 15 months, it is now out of warrantee. This vacuum worked very well when it worked. It is kinda heavy. I will amend this review after I take the Vacuum back to Sears for repair :o(

Purchased this vacuum 2/13 after my old Kenmore died figured that one was from 2004, get another Kenmore right wrong after a year the hose has ripped and will cost me $69.99 to replace(and for those that do not know you CAN NOT USE THE VACUUM WITHOUT THE HOSE) and $100+ to have a repair shop fix it. Called care so sorry out of warranty really! I have purchased my last vacuum from Kenmore and sears. Stay away from this product.
