Excellent suction and maneuverability. The long hose and wand make it easy to vacuum around furniture and the swivel head rotates easily around tables, floor lamps, sofas etc,

A fantastic unit. I tested many vacuums for my wife and this came on the top of the list. The only negative thing about it is the warranty. It is limited to only 3 years (a replacement agreement). There are other less expensive units out there with 6-7 years warrant.
I wish I had never bought this vacuum. The floor head that is attached to the carpet head does not stay locked in. If I can get it to lock, when I pick it up to move it it unlocks. Every time. It will not stay in place. What a piece of ****. I am mad at myself that I let the 30 days go by and now I am stuck with it. My blood pressure goes up every time I use it. Hate this vacuum.
Telescoping wand doesn't stay locked in position-only had it for a month or so. It is like vacuuming with a snake between you and the floor. It is powerful but is also very heavy and hard to use. I am going to return.
Received my Elite Canister...and have used it Twice. This is my first Canister Model. It takes getting use to, but overall I'm liking using it over a Upright. It is powerful...and cleans well. The Dirt indicator on this Model...tells you when the dirt is picked up....I clean Longer now...but my Carpet is much cleaner...than it has been. I realize now I've not vacuumed well enough and have left dirt behind. So this feature is Great....I think the attachments might be difficult for a older citizen to attach and take apart...and require some thought and applying. But this would be true with any Vacuum cleaner. Nice light design, easy to roll...and like the Roll up electric cord...no more winding up the cord to store. I did notice that the Main floor brush has already showed some side scratches....from rubbing into furniture and baseboards..the paint and plastic scratches easily. But in a world of plastic..that is what you get. I mail ordered my unit and got it in 3 days....every feature works great. The dirt indicator is a great feature...you know your cleaning better than you have in the past. I have pets...and appreciate the attachments.
We bought our first vacuum from Sears in 1973 and this is our 5 one since then. Unit as a whole is great. Fantastic suction power, HEPA filter does a great job, and all attachments work great, but the units has a problem. The telescoping wand has a poor locking mechanism that does not stay locked and wiring strip that allows the wand to adjust is to rigid and breaks not allowing power to the beater bar. Being a Kenmore Elite we excepted better quality as all our other Kenmore appliances have been. Fixed wiring problem myself and wand is now locked in one position.
I have had this vacuum for three years now. It was great the first year, I absolutely LOVED it. It sucks really good, easy to switch heads out, easy to change the bag... But with age and use things started to break. I really thought by spending $600 I would get my money's worth (at least to last longer than 3 years!) This is what has broken on it: #1) the re-coil for the cord is shot (it continues to pull the cord in, so when I have it plugged in it pulls the cord off of the wall and into the vacuum-we finally put a clamp on the cord so it would quit sucking in) #2) the head gets stuck in the position as if I were vacuuming under a bed which is SUPER annoying. #3) a piece of plastic broke off near where the wand plugs into the head and so when I just stand the vacuum up it falls over (it no longer stands on its own- I have to lay it down on the floor or lean it against a wall). That is all. It's a gray vacuum...at first. Time will only tell...and I'm telling you, don't buy it.
I bought this vacuum mainly because it has a lift off part that is safe to vacuum on hardwood floors. The canister is a little bulky but not too heavy. It is also a little cumbersome with handling the thick hose that is attached. I like the fact that you can attach a crevice tool and a pet hair tool. I also like that you can change the suction control from light to heavy. Overall it is a very versatile vacuum and I would recommend it to others.
