Unbelievably good for picking up pet hair
My former Kenmore Progressive canister vacuum was great, but I have upgraded to the Intuition and it is absolutely outstanding. I have Siberian Huskies and several cats. Huskies constantly shed tons of hair. When they "blow" their thick undercoats in the summer, I could vacuum 3 to 4 times a day and still pick up loads of hair. The Intuition's Pet Power Mate, for pulling up hair from rugs & upholstery, is simply amazing at very quickly removing "woven in" dog and cat hair from furniture and carpeting. If it weren't for the Intuition, I don't think I'd be able to have all the pets I do. The Intuition is very adjustable re the suction I want to use. It has high, medium and low power levels, as well as a valve near the handle that decreases the suction when open. This allows one to vacuum light throw rugs and blankets without them being sucked into the vacuum. If you are a pet owner, this is the vacuum for you.

What A Piece Of Junk!
We bought the Kenmore brand based on past experience, HUGE mistake. This is an extremely poor design overall. The removable head looses electrical contact very quickly(we've had it less than 90 days!) Pulling it in a straight line is impossible, having to fold the bag in half to install it is a joke at the cost of hepa bags, and the final straw, with the unit plugged in and NOT turned on if you move the hose it trys to turn itself on! This is an obvious electrical hazard. Panasonic makes this for them, they know about the shorting issue, and say it is too much grease in a connection. All it takes is to replace the complete hose as a unit!

Great out of the box but flimsy parts

The performance and usability of this is great out of the box - good suction and easy to push on the carpet. That is why it received such high marks from Consumer Reports. However, the big problem with this vacuum cleaner is that the power head is made from cheap, thin polystyrene plastic and after a time the housing parts break. Honestly, it is not much of a step up from a Revell plastic model kit. I'm not a heavy user but have replaced numerous parts on the head set as they break off (at least three in the past four years). One of the big failures is the electrical connection in the head. It comes loose or one of the connections fail and only sends power to the rotary brush when you pull back and cuts out when you push forward. The vacuum cleaner repair shop where I took mine said this is a common problem and gets 5-10 per week. I really loved this vacuum cleaner until it started breaking on me.

Design flaws show after 6 months

Owned less than 6 months. As others have experienced, the adjustable wand eventually spontaneously collapses with even modest downward pressure. I've resorted to using duct tape to hold it in place. Suction is fine. Integrated tools are good and generally useful. Cord still fully retracts, but with much less force. I suspect this will eventually become an issue. The collapsing wand is incredibly annoying and renders this almost unusable. Sears should replace it.

Good vacuum, Horrid vacuum

I went from a Rainbow to this vacuum. I was tired of the water basin. This one won't steer in a straight line, the telescoping mechanism broke the first time I used it, hubby had to finally take a screw and make it permanently 'out'. Really designers?!? Plastic on metal?! Who thought that was a brilliant idea? The retractable cord is great, but you have to pull it all the way out every time or it gets so hot that the plastic cover goes mushy, and then when you eventually try to retract the cord, you have to pull it out anyway or it won't pull it all in. As for suction, that is about the only thing that does work right. Which is good, because this is one of those things in life that you do want to suck! And now it looks like this has been discontinued.....big surprise? I think not.

Kenmore intuition canister vacuum

I love this vacuum. It's easy to maneuver, get's the edges super clean, tells you when the area you're vacuuming is clean, and it's quiet. The tools and accessories are easy to use, and the pet power-mate tool picks up my corgi's fur like magic! The fact that you can cross over from carpet to floor with one simple motion makes this a perfect vacuum.

FIRE HAZARD

I purchased this vacuum about a year ago. It doesn't do a bad job vacuuming if you want to take a chance of burning your house down. The spring loaded cord needs to be pulled all the way out of the vacuum while you're using it. I didn't do this the first time I vacuumed. When I pulled the cord out for additional length, I literally burned the palm of my hand the cord was so hot. SAFETY HAZARD!!

Dramatically poor and costly to fix

The motor left us on our previous Kenmore vacuum. so after reading reviews, the Intuition model sounded good, expensive, but after trying it in the store, we felt confident it would last. mistake! Within warranty, the plastic piece holding the hose to the canister broke. When the unit was returned, the cord would not pull back. Instead of driving 25 minutes and waiting in line, and waiting another 2 weeks to have it fixed, I opened it, figured out the spring was missing and ordered it. now, terrible issue. The connection between the pipe and the hose is arcing. The connector is all black, and evidently dangerous. The power is intermittent. I cleaned it the best I could, but the problem is too serious, part needs to be replaced, But they do not sell the the connector, you have to buy the whole PCB, a $60 expense. And if you bring it, labor would add more costs. Then the light at the bottom became a strobe, flashing constantly. very annoying. Another $60 for the PCB assembly. For the price paid, this is an all plastic piece of junk.I hope there is a recall on this machine. Arcing is a dangerous thing, especially when it happens a few inches from your hands.

This vacuum is terrible!!!!

It doesn't pull straight, the wand is hard to get apart, it is noisy. I paid full price and they wouldn't take it back. There is not one thing I like about this vacuum.

Love the Intuition Kenmore Vacuum

This is a wonderful vacuum with many great features. The wand on the rod extends to make a longer or shorter length handle depending on length needed. Also impressed with the versatility of the floor power mate and the ease of use. Overall great vacuum and would recommend!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good when working

Excellent vacuum when working. Luckily, I have taken out multiple protection agreements. It seems like it has been in for service as much as I have had it for use. Height adjustment has been repaired at least 6 times, cord reel repaired, and bottom plastic plate replaced 3 times. Over $400-500 in repairs. Have put them on notice that I will pursue a full refund on this unit if it breaks down again in the next 6 months.
