Good product!
I bought this unit to replace a Kenmore unit I installed in 2000. That unit worked great, but it was starting to show it's age. I was pleased with that one, and I'm equally pleased wtih this one. My wife said she immediately noticed the difference in the softness of our water. There was another plus I have to commend Sears for. The efficiency of this model has been upgraded, but they did not change the "basics" of this unit from their 2000 model. I was able to use the existing plumbing and hookup setup because this unit is the exact same height of my previous one and working parts are all the same as well. In other words, this was an EASY install! I pulled the old one out, put this one in and had it up an running in no time. Well done Sears!

Poor quality
Purchased on 8-20-12, installed on 9-6-12. Poor quality plastic part inside top of tank suddenly broken without any reason. Shot water all over room, water flooded and damaged the carpet, got on computers printers, wood desks etc. The day before we had to go out of town lucky we were still home. Waiting to see what Sears is going to do.

JUNK

JUNK!!! I had a leak around the Venturi part which leaked water into the tank and screwed up the brine mix. I fought with the Sears help line until it was out of warranty and now I am stuck with their Junk. Yesterday their service tech suggested I must have dropped the unit. Really. Water @ 7 pounds per gallon plus salt, I think they are on dope!!! This weekend when I take it back, it may accidentally drop on the store floor. Terrible product and worse customer service. ***** here I come.

Painful install!

I just not and installed this softener...it was a direct replacement of older kenmore. All the fittings are now 1" and we're 3/4"...about $50 worth of supplies. Maybe this works well if you are in a garage and can just plug it in..but if this is outside...be ready to carve a hole in your house to get the L shaped electrical hook ups through the walls. Other than that seems to be working well...painful install!

water softener

bought this softener on line with in store pick up. Was notified immediately, pick up was very efficient. This replaces a kenmore softener that had worked very well until the resin evidently plugged up, resulting in low water pressure. Tried the sears cleaner, which did not work at all. However, have been extremely pleased with kenmore softeners.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Happy Happy Happy

Easy install, in a home that had not used a softener before. Efficiency of this softener beats out all others for the price @ 2870.58 Grains per Pound of Salt. Estimated salt cost at $80 a year.... works great.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

easy to install

Replaced an old Kenmore that had lasted 30 plus years. The spacing on the back of this is different than the old one, so if hard plumbed in, you may need to change the pipe spacing. I just bought a couple of those shark bite connector flex hoses, and plugged it right to the old lines after cutting the old unions off the old pipes. Generally, this seems a bit flimsy- little if any metal holding things together. Most internal plumbing is slip together, but it works, and that's what counts. The older softener plugged in with a regular power cord, and had a motor in the timer (which burned out, and thus the need to buy this one) while this one has a little power adapter which plugs in and a small thin wire that goes into the digital clock/ timer on the top. If you just leave it plugged in and doing its thing, it is fine. However, it is a bit more difficult than the old one in that you can't leave it unplugged (for safety and conservation) then just plug it in and run manually when you want. You can, but it is not quite as simple. Softening works well, and this is a basic unit that gets the job done.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Easy installation

We have recently replaced an older model Kenmore water softener with a new one from our local Sears store. It was easy for my husband to install himself and easy to operate.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Don't buy this water softener

2 months after the warranty expired the circuit card controlling input to the softener went bad. After replacing the part through Sears, at 70% of the original softener cost, the new circuit card went bad 1 month after the shortened warranty expired. Don't buy this product unless you like crapp, if you do, then buy 2.

watersoftener

I probably should have gone with the next grade up. This is a little smaller than our previous one. It also does not have the lights showing when water is running, that it is being used. It is adequate, nothing more.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Lives Up To It's Billing

I did a lot of research before making this purchase. This made-by-Whirlpool softener received overwhelming positive reviews and deservedly so. It was easy to hook up and to set up. I checked my water hardness and it went from 11 grains, untreated, to zero grains, treated. Hopefully the long term reliability will also meet expectations.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
