Kenmore Hybrid Water Softener Improves Taste, Smell, Feel
The Kenmore Elite hybrid water softener home filter provides premium protection for your family and gives you freedom from ever changing a filter again. Whether you're tired of over chlorinated city water or live in an area with a high mineral content, this system will let you enjoy crystal clear drinking water, dishes without spots and appliances with less build-up. The softener does wonders for people with sensitive skin, too. An extra layer of carbon works to filter out impurities that a softener alone misses.
The Kenmore hybrid water softener is easy to install with minimal plumbing skills. It's easy to maintain, too. Fill it with up to 200 pounds of salt and the softener will regenerate automatically. There's no filter to replace, eliminating a maintenance hassle.

We had a traditional salt, Culligan, water softener for 24 years in our previous home. We recently moved and our house has an older Kenmore water softener, that we haven't added salt to in the year that we've lived here. We've always had a city water source and our new home has a well. Being unfamiliar with well systems, I did my research to see what type of water conditioning system would be best. I saw many recommendations for salt-free, but didn't know how they worked or what they did for the water. After research, we thought the typical salt softener with the added filtration system, might give us what we wanted from the well water. ****** had the 2 systems, separately, which totaled $800.00. I was intrigued to learn that Sears had this hybrid system, and it was on sale for $600. My husband installed - 2 hours total to remove and install new one (gator-bite fittings make for quick and easy plumbing!) The only thing he didn't like was the Ultra -flow valve is 1 inch, while plumbing in the house is 1/2 inch. We programmed the softener, did the recharge, and then ran the water for 20 minutes. We did not empty our hot water tank and I really was not expecting soft water the next morning, but was pleasantly surprised when it was! It's only been a few days, but we are impressed with the water softness, and the taste of our water. Have been buying bottled water for the last year, but no more!

We love our new water softener. We noticed a difference in taste almost immediately from our refrigerator dispenser. Its great especially for hard water in Yolo County, CA. Look for sales and deals on this one...
Had a previous "deluxe" model water softener from Sears that lasted 14 yrs without any issues. Started leaking recently and repairs would be expensive, without guarantee as life of softener's are between 10-12 yrs. Just purchased the new Hybrid model, two filters (charcoal is the second filter) which we were told would make the water less chlorine tasting. This is only first week of using, but seems to be pretty efficient and we have not had any issues. Hoping this one will be as great as the previous Kenmore.

Relatively easy install. Disappointed that the water valve was not the same spacing as the prior Sears water softner that it replaced. Needed to replume to install. Had to download manual to program all the features. Water quality is good to excellent. Spouse would only drink bottled water but now enjoys tap water as well. Due to dual Salt/Potassium modes we've switched to using the KCl mode which will allow watering of plants and is more beneficial for us. Will have to wait to see if carbon filtering lasts as stated. Based on the hardness of 12 grains in our area and our water usage the filtering should only last 5 years before it needs replacing.

Replaced my Kenmore high-efficiency water softner installed Sept 1994, yes same model still available! Has a few more features and higher hardness treating capacity, but offers the same outstanding quality. I have hard water from my shallow well and these water softners take care of the problem with ease. I recommend Sears Water Softners, they are dependable, affordable, low salt usage, and do-the-job.
