It works
Pros: It works, Just plug it in and twist, then hold the reset button down. Make sure you run about a gal. of water through it before you drink the water. Cons: Expensive (I waited for a sale with free shipping at sears.com). However most water filters are expensive. Only lasts about 6 months. (But that's longer then most filters).

Poor quality product
I purchased the Sears Elite 2-Stage Drinking Water Filter and installed it with little problem. I was less than impressed with the hardware provided to mount the faucet to my stainless steel sink, but the installation was relatively easy. After a successful installation, I ran the water for 10 minutes as instructed. "Great," I thought. "Now, I can drink some very good tasting water." However, before I could enjoy the fruits of my research of undersink filters, and of my abor, I noticed the under sink area was quickly flooding with water. To my great disappointment, the 'box' which encases the filters was leaking water profusely. Immediately, I shut off the water, checked both filters for snugness of fit into the filter housing--no problem found. After turning the water on and off several times and checking the filters thoroughly for snugness of fit, I concluded that the filter mount inside the housing was leaking. I disassembled the housing in an attempt to determine the source of the leak. However, I could not determine why the filter mount was leaking. I changed filters, but that did not solve the problem. Finally, I concluded that I should return the entire unit to Sears, and I have no intention of replacing the unit with a similar unit. I cannot have confidence that the thin plastic used to manufacture this unit would be long-lasting and worry-free. My confidence is lost in this unit; therefore, I cannot have confidence that a replacement unit would not leak in the future and ruin my under counter area as well as my cabinets and floor. Obviously, I cannot rate the quality of the taste of the water. My experience is limited only to my perceived notion that I wasted about two hours of my time doing the installation, taking the entire unit out again, plus my time and effort to drive to Sears to purchase and return the defective unit--I am terribly disappointed with this product--a unit that is rated so highly.

Started leaking

Bought this filter unit in March 2011; in July 2013 it began to leak, as others have noted; 1-year warranty. The filters improved the taste of the water, filters were expensive but easy to change; but not enough to compensate for the damage to our kitchen. We purchase from Sears often, I am a Craftsman Club member, and a Sears SYWR member. In my experience, I can no longer depend on Sears quality (sometimes ok, sometimes not).

Kenmore elite 2-stage water filter leaked and ruined my cabinet

Kenmore elite 2-stage water filter leaked and ruined my the bottom of my cabinet. Took filter apart and the housing was cracked where filter cartridge screws in. Leak started after replacing cartridges. Replaced filter assembly with new one. Just discovered this evening that the new one was leaking after I found mold under my cabinent. Took it apart and it was cracked like the first one. Am amazed that sears is still selling this poorly designed piece of junk.

Kenmore 2 stage Filter

Good tasting water, however it leaves sediment/mineral residue on the water bottle that we use.  Expensive filter replacement, discount on these type of products are not usually offered.

It leaks

I had this for over a year with no problems.  Water tasted good, I thought it was a pretty good system.  But when I tried to replace the filters last week it leaked and I could not get it to stop. Luckily it happened when I was changing the fiters and not while I was out.  I am now going to upgrade to an RO system, and not a kenmore.

Bad performance poor warranty

If you get this filter, get the Sears replacement warranty as well. The filter started leaking a lot and it cannot be repaired. Plus: water taste is excellent.

Kenmore 625.385010 leaks

Bought this for my mom because of ease of changing cartridges, and the thorough dual stage filtration. Unfortunately, like so many others, our unit leaked after she changed the cartridge, flooding her kitchen. I got the frantic long distance call and had to try to diagnose over the phone. Now I'm back home and have opened up the unit. It's leaking where the Number 2 cartridge screws into its holder. Given the numerous experiences others have had with this, we're going to just bite the bullet and buy a completely different unit instead of trying to fix this. Strongly recommend others avoid the Kenmore 625.385010 drinking water filter.

The Kenmore Elite 2-Stage Drinking Water Filter Leaks

I purchased this unit in 2008 and had the same experience with leaking as several other reviewers.  Originally installed by our kitchen remodelling contractor it leaked profusely when I first changed the filters after 6 months.  The Sears service technician came to our home, disassembled the unit and discovered a crack in the plastic mount for one of the cartridges.  He did not have a replacement part with him so had one shipped to me which I installed.  I had several filter changes subsequently without incident, but it developed a small leak after the last change which subsided with time.  It now needs new filters again and I plan to replace the whole unit with one that is better constructed.

Keeps leaking from the Housing

I have gone through 3 of these in 1.5-2 years. Everytime i replace the filters the housing starts to leak. I had this problem with the 1st one...i noticed that the plastic where the filters mount into get small cracks. now it has happened again. time to replace the filters and here we go with the leak again and here we go with the same cracks in the housing. This is very time consuming.....i have no choice but to go to sears and get another one but this is the last. I will be planning on changing this for another totaly different non sears brand...

Unit Leaked After the 1 Year Warranty was Over

My office bought two units. The water quality was great and as renters it was nice to not have to drill into the cabinets to mount the units.  The blue box just sits in the cabinet and you can turn it vertical or horizontal.  One unit is still working great after 1/5 years, but we just tried to replace the filters on the other unit as we had done before and this time we got water leaking without us knowing it.  The neighbor below us told us that they were getting a flood of water into their apartment, and we didn't even realize the unit was leaking.  After calling customer service, they siad they would charge us for a service person to come out and evaluate it and then charge us for replacement parts.  They suggested that we look for a crack in the housing, and there was.  There is no way to fix it other than replacing the whole thing.

In the 1.5 years it was working, we really liked the water (after you run it for a while and get the slippery feel of the water out) and the convenience of the under sink configuration. The light indicator just goes off after six months though, so you end up replacing the filters after 6 months and have no idea if your volume of use warrants an earlier or later replacement.

Easy to install, water tastes like plastic.

This was pretty easy to install.  We rely on our fridge filtered water for drinking and were looking forward to higher-volume filtered water for cooking, coffee, iced tea etc. Ran the recommended water through and tested - hint of plastic.  Ran a ton more water through with same result.  Never ever use the thing.  A few months later let the thing run for 10 minutes - same plastic taste.  Waste of water and money.  Now I'm online shopping for multi-pack filters for the fridge, and I figure I'll try a new set of water filters for the Kenmore 2-stage.  Problem is that I can't find anyone who carries the filters.  So I try the Sears site and sure enough, I can't find the filters listed here and they do nut pull up in a search of the site.  The only reason why I'm giving this product two stars is in the off chance that the local Sear carries the filters and they don't taste like plastic.
