Product Description

Kenmore Elite 7.3 cu. ft. Electric Dryer - Special Care

With multiple settings, special fabric-care options and Sensor Dry technology, the Kenmore Elite 7.3 cu. ft. electric dryer 8147 offers better fabric care that can extend the life of your clothes. The Dual-Sensor System detects moisture and adjusts temperature and time of cycles to deliver optimal drying. The unique Steam Refresh setting revitalizes limp or musty clothes with a brief cycle of concentrated steam while the Static Shield option minimizes static cling without dryer sheets. The Kenmore Elite steam dryer even offers a unique Workout Wear cycle which combines cooler air with light tumbling for your high performance synthetic fabrics.

  • Using cooler air temperatures and rapid tumbling, the Workout Wear™ cycle ensures an even dry for high tech fabrics, without the damage or wear incurred by hotter cycles.
  • Steam Refresh™ reduces odors, relaxes wrinkles and cuts down on the need for ironing, so clothes are ready to wear in just 20 minutes.
  • By adding a light layer of moisture to fabrics, Iron Ready ensures shirts, slacks and more are ready to iron straight out of the dryer to save you time and energy.
  • By channeling the power of steam, Static Shield virtually eliminates clothing static, so you can stop spending money on dryer sheets and still get that fresh, cling-free finish.
  • Medium range capacity gives this dryer the power of some bigger machines, allowing it to deliver features that fluff, finish and dry your fabrics to perfection.

Steam Feature is Awesome
Bought this dryer when I bought the matching washer. Dryer is quiet, and easy to use. First time with a steam feature. Wow is it great. I had washed 10 shirts and gone outside while they were drying. Came back hours later, and they were a bit too wrinkled for me to wear right out of the dryer. I set the Steam Refresh cycle.....and in 20 minutes I had ten shirts that I hung up on hangars, and they are ready to wear. Mostly I wear cotton shirts.....and it worked well with them. I'd surely recommend this dryer to anyone wishing to save time. It is Awesome.

Dont waste your money on this one
I bought a Kenmore Elite Dryer a 5 years ago and paid an extra $200 for the warranty. Within the warranty period, the control panel broke. I was happy that the warranty was still valid, but Sears stopped manufacturing the control panel!! There is no reason for a dryer to have this many bells & whistles that can break and are obsolete within a few years. Do yourself a favor - buy the basic washers & dryers and leave the computers for your desk!

Dries great; steam feature doesn't seem to work well

I purchased this dryer about one year ago along with the matching washer. Overall, I've been very pleased with it. I just tried the steam feature for the first time in an attempt to remove some wrinkles from a cotton blouse. I followed the instructions exactly, in terms of filing the steam feeder. Ran the blouse through...no change in fabric. OK...I refilled the steam feeder and tried it a second time...still no change. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but I don't think so. I'm pretty good at following directions. Maybe it's the thin cotton fabric...I don't know. Other than this one issue, I do like the performance and capacity of the dryer. I will try the steam feature again with something else; hopefully it will work next time.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Another control panel failure

A dryer this expensive should last a LONG time. Not so, after 5 years and exhaustion of warranty, control panel went out. $330 for part, $120 for labor and $80 service call to diagnose problem. And then try to sell me a multi year warranty on the matching washer? Sears, you must be kidding. I actually remember when Kenmore was a trusted brand. No longer.

nice when it works

Have had it for 6 months and liked it. The unit broke and I was told it will be a week and a half until they can fix it. It appears to be the same motor issue everyone else is talking about. My wont spin though, no noise. This The service people were nice but apparently their computer systems are not good. They had issue finding my data even after I gave the addresses order numbers etc. They only had a stove i didn't buy in their system. Once they found the unit i would get transferred and the whole ordeal started again. I was on the phone for 30 minutes trying to get an appointment set up.

Awesome Dryer when it works, Poor Poor Quality

Purchased in August, Dryer immediately made noise. Repaired once and broke again within 10 minutes. New Dryer and Washer delivered, dryer broke again after a month, two attempts to fix and it finally works.

Dryer motor makes a rattling noise

We recently bought this dryer in November of last year. Within one week the dryer started making a rattling noise, as if there was a screw in the drum. We called and the tech came out to inform us that the dryer motor was the root cause and needed to be replaced. So we requested a new dryer. The new dryer came and one week later began making the same noise and the tech again came out to diagnose a motor problem. We are now getting a new motor in our brand new dryer which we made a significant investment in. We paid a premium for the additional size due to the amount of laundry we have and we have a deconstructed and rebuilt dryer with a new motor. It's not what I expect from the quality and if I had the choice I would have spent my dollars on another product as this one appears to be defective. Same dryer, same noise. Product problem.

Chime isn't loud enough

For the price, the chime that signals the dryer has stopped should be audible 12 steps away in the next room.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Excellent Dryer!

We got this over a month ago with the matching front load washer. I love this dryer! There are so many cycle choices, but my favorite is the steam refresh - it's a gift for busy moms who can't always be there when the dryer cycle is done (and ironing isn't even remotely an option). Definitely recommend this dryer. The matching pedestals add cost, but are completely worth it! My back has been thanking me every day.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Worth the money.

I purchasd this dryer and it's matching washer. Many great drying options to choose from. Clohes come out looking great and the amount of ironing I do has cut down greatly. The static guard feature uses steam to keep static down I do not use dryer sheets anymore.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
