I waited to review this range until I had really given it a work out. I have now had this range for 6 months and it is fantastic. I got it in white with the white glass top. Note: clean spills immediately after cool down with glass range cleaner. and it will look pristine. Convection is a wonderful thing! Biscuits & cakes rise unbelievably high. Cooking time is reduced. Self cleaning oven is great. Note: If you choose white DO NOT use standard clean time of 3 hrs- will turn the oven door top brown.Learned this lesson on the last range. Usually just an hour is plenty. Remove racks also if you like them shiny as they will dull if left inside during clean cycle. Programming is easy and accurate, as is oven temperatures. My only negative about this range is that the Hot indicator light could show which burner is indicated.
The Good - 1. The oven warms up quickly and even tells you the current temperature so you can easily gage how much longer before it reaches you set temperature to place your food in it. 2. The range has multiple pan sized circle on the range to choose from. 3. The rapid boil feature, as an electric range user turning the **** to 7 or 8 was a no-no in the past, but if you are in a hurry to boil water - it is there (I have been content with "5" which was fast and hot enough for me so far). The Quirky - 1, The noise the oven makes during warm up due to the fans circulating the heat will not allow you quietly prepare anything. But it stops after the stove emits a loud beep to alert everone within the house that it reached optimum temperature. (So much for surprising the family with fresh hot biscuits in the morning). Also, if you like to pop things into the oven before the optimum temperature is set, the fan will blow the hot air into your face when you open the oven. It is best to wait instead, because although opening the door stops the fans, it doen't stop fast enough to avoid the blast of heat. 2. The "hot" eye does not light a led on the panel to remind you not to touch it. There is just a general led light that says the entire surface is hot. Thanks to the radiant nature of this range though, one "hot" eye kind of heats up the whole surface, so I guess it is justified and you should treat the entire surface as if it will burn you. 3. You've got to get used to setting the baking tempearture with "start and stop" - wait too long to push start (after entering the temperature amount) and the oven makes you start all over again. The weirder part is that you set the timmer using just the timer button (on/off) and the keypad numbers (whole minutes only not seconds). The problem is that I've hit "stop" (by mistake to turn off the timer, you're supposed to hit the timer button), so actually turned off the oven a couple of times - instead of stopping the timer. It would have ruined a cake but the casserole "was salvageable" - it just made dinner late.
Purchased this range with knowledge of very high rankings from JD Power for Kenmore Elite for the past two years. We just got delivery of our new Kenmore Elite 6.1, model 95052 today to replace a 19 yr. old builder grade Whirlpool that oven door glass cracked on inside which still functioned but always ran 50-75 degres hot. So time for replacement. I rated "average" on our new Kenmore Elite for now, only because of two reasons. #1 The digital clock is a lovely blue but it's so blaring and extremely fuzzy from even a short distance. OK for those who don't care what time it is, but really hurts my eyes just looking at it. Bottom line - The digital numbers seem way too thick in width. #2 The oven racks. Yes, have only cooked 1 meal in this oven but must be i'm not used to the rack being so slippery with our old 9 x 11 pan? Almost slid the whole casserole pan straight onto the oven glass door. While the racks/levels do have somewhat of a stop point toward the back, i think Kenmore/? should have increased/raised the notch on the back of the rack to ensure the rack, etc. doesn't land on the glass door. It seems the weight of your casserole/pan isn't supported enough on the back and the rack (with weight of pan/content) tends to slide/angle forward to you, almost crashing onto the oven glass door when taking it out - if your not very careful. All in all, so far - love the looks (except for new handle design with Elite - would have much preferred straight/simple classic style handles over Elite's new style that has flairs/web on end), it seems to cook food fast, ease of use seems good, hope it's a keeper.
