The tub is so deep I can barely get the clothes out from the bottom of the tub and I'm 5'4". They need to keep in mind that most washing is done by women and we're not always as tall as a man. I think I'll need to get a step stool to be able to reach in to the bottom to get a sock! I'm disappointed also in the cleaning factor of the machine. The clothes don't get as clean but I'm comparing to my older washers. I guess in the scheme of the new HE washers, this is adequate.

This washer is a dream to use. It is quiet and has all of the options that you could possibly want. The clothes come out so clean and fresh. I love doing the laundry!!!!
We purchased the Elite 5.0 front controls on Monday and it was delivered and installed Wednesday. The new design is by far the quietest and most complete washer we've experienced. Plus, this washer has upgraded tub-spin control which keeps the entire wash and spin stable. I encourage shoppers to go to a Sears store and feel how much movement the tubs have inside the washer compared to this model. No question, a really well-built washer. And Sears has a 30 day return/refund policy, while its competitors only offer 48 to 72 hour returns.
This washer absolutely does not get the clothes clean. It chooses the water level for you and the clothes wind up sticking out of the water. If they aren't under the water how are they getting clean? The towel the dog sleeps on comes out as dirty as when it went in. If you try adding extra soap it just leaves theI undissolved soap on the still dirty clothes. Yes I used HE compatible soap. I'm beyond disappointed. Please don't waste your money like I did.
This is my 4rth HE washer, all from Sears since they're replacements thru my "protection plan" which, in reality simply locks me into another Sears washer. I'd be better off to go elsewhere and save myself another headache (literally). I wash lots of dirty cleaning rags, mop heads, etc. that require hot water and agitation. The only cycle that will supply hot water is the "whites" cycle, and it fill sit huge tub to the top (energy efficiency for sure) with hot water and agitates VERY LITTLE. I find no cycle with the exception of heavy duty that will agitate much at all, but won't use hot water. I've turned off the cold altogether to try to 'trick" it, but it just sits and spins giving the "IE" error code~~too little water. The rags got more dingy week after week, until I finally figured out that no matter that I've asked for hot seater, the water is luke warm at best with the exception of the on cycle, and I have no control of how much water it pours in. So far, I've gone thru an LG that was out of balance more than not, a Whirlpool that rusted out completely before it's first year was up (seems it doesn't like bleach and the "protection plan" doesn't cover rust. Go figure. More than once in just over a month I've had to turn off the power to reboot the computer on this one, and I've spent so many hours watching it/feeling the temp that I'm developing chronic neck pain! It has given new meaning to "a pain in the neck"!! I had to buy a second washer as a "stand by" because of repeated service calls that each take over a week to manifest, and it is an old Whirlpool with an agitator/ temp/water level selection and it much more reliable than this new bells and whistle thing. To say I'm disappointed just doesn't cover it. I hate it so much, but have no options but to keep it till it qualifies to be replaced, and the qualifications seem to be becoming more stringent alas time passes. No wonder. If you're considering this washer, take my words to heart unless you really don't care if it gets things clean. Recommend to a friend~~not even to Vlad Putin.
Purchased this washer two days ago and had it delivered for "free" today 3/18/14. I was excited about my purchase and was eager to use so I placed my first load of laundry into my brand new washing machine and it made soothing beeps that filled me full of joy. I chose all desired setting as well as adding detergent. Then hit the start button. I watched in joy for the first few minuets of operation. I then left the washer to let it carry out its duties of washing my cloths. About 15 min into the process I heard once again some beeping. I went to the unit to investigate, it was displaying the letters "LE" on the display, after reading the owners manual I found this is some sort of motor fault. I followed the suggestions for this fault with no success in resolving the issue so I did as the owners manual states and called customer service. I spoke with customer service and they are agreeing to replace the unit however in what I feel is not a so timely manner(2 days) maybe due to my frustration but I feel as if that's too long for the given circumstances. So all in all I am getting a replacement item however I do not have a good feeling about the quality of the unit given the purchase amount and it failing before finishing one load? This is why I am only giving one star but I am willing to try one more unit, my decision to do so could be due to the helpful and understanding customer service. I hope the replacement gives a better representation of the advertised quality of the unit.
Didn't think I was going to be able to find a high efficiency top loader that would use enough water to rinse my clothes adequately. This one does it and is quiet. It has a clear lid, which is hard to tell in the picture, but I can see that the clothes are being moved around well in the water to get them clean. Very satisfied so far.
