The clothes come out of the washer so wrinkled the dryer cannot even remove the wrinkles. The washer has a so many different settings it seemed like it would be great. But the solution to no wrinkles is to wash everything on delicate and in very small loads. This does not work for a family. The steamer on the dryer could not even remove the wrinkles in the clothing. It is pointless to spend the money on this dryer if you cannot use the features it has.
We bought this washer dryer set for our new house as soon as I started using the bulky setting with towels and bedding I would get a UE or OE error - uneven load and drain error. The washer has been used MAYBE 5-7 times. Sears sent out a 'technician' who unplugged it, plugged it in and confirmed that the electronics were shot, and set up to have a new washer delivered within 3 days - which is great but I have 2 kids, and no washer.. Conclusion: purchase a simple model that does not rely on a computer with simple functions or pay up the #$% for a warranty.
Huge disappointment!!! This machine does have a plethora of options....of which only two cycles are energy efficient and if you select one of them your clothes will not come out clean. Your other options take well over an hour to wash. This machine does more messing around (moving one way and then the other then emptying and filling for no reason over and over and over and over). I believe it was designed to do this to ensure that repairs will be necessary. The explanation I was given over the phone was, "The machine is so smart it adds time to ensure clothes are clean." Our water and electric bill have increased tremendously since this purchase a year ago. You will also never be able to wash a full load. If you even attempt the machine will be sure to go out of balance and you will more than likely have to start over. I have done this waaay too many time to count!! I want my old machine back.
I can't say enough about this machine and it's features. I was sad to read that other people have had such horrible experiences. Mine is so good after a year that I have to write about it. . . I have a large family and my children have sensitive skin, so GOOD RINSING is super important for us. I love that I can choose how many extra rinse cycles I want. . . My children also play competitive sports, so SOAKING BEFORE WASHING is also key to getting clothes clean. I can choose the duration of soaking (up to three hours) in the beginning. . . . I can wash bulky comforters and mattress covers because there is not an agitator to get in the way, though I admit that this lack of agitator sometimes can tangle shirt sleeves when I wash several in the same load. . . I can sanitize laundry; wash cold and get very clean clothes; I can choose the vigor with which clothes get agitated in the wash; I can choose how hard the spin cycle will be; I can add water during the cycle; I can do an express wash in 35 minutes . . . It's just a lot. I guess that what I find most valuable is that I can modify so many of its features so it does exactly what I want it to do, and I am very picky with laundry. . . The only problem I had was when a coin from another country (which is much thinner than US coins) got stuck between the base of the drum and the cylinder. Within 36 hours a repairman from Sears fixed it (I did buy the extended warranty and service contract). Maybe the service around the Tulsa OK area is better than in other areas of the country.
I love the washer. It is huge and washes clothes just fine for me. However, I recently noticed rust around the bleach dispenser. I googled to see if any others had an issue and this is what I found. _________________________________________________________ david of Westfield, NY on Oct. 12, 2013 Satisfaction Rating1/5 In 2011, my family bought a Kenmore washing machine. Since our purchase, the area around the bleach dispenser has began to rust quite noticeably. It is currently 2013 and I contacted Sears with my complaint and as usual they said this problem is not covered. To top it off, I had the extended warranty and still no help from Sears. Sears is quick to sell you an extended warranty to make more money off from you but they back nothing. ________________________________________________________ So... I am concerned because I have had the washer just under a year. I got it on black friday last year. How much rust will it have in 3-5 years? Like I said the washer works great now... but for how long, who knows?
I purchased this Kenmore Elite washer and dryer a year ago. It is by far the best washer and dryer I have ever owned (and I am 58 years old). My clothes are clean and look great. I replaced a front load washer that smelled terrible and did not perform well. I will never buy a front load washer again. While some may raise concerns about clothes being wrinkled out of the washer; the wrinkles simply disappear in the dryer. I can also wash large loads of towels, bedding, and bath mats. It did take a few weeks to learn the settings. I am very glad I purchased this washer/dryer combo. They are a great value, worth the price, and are a pleasure to use. I would highly recommend this washer and dryer combination.

A quick wash takes over an hour, normal load normally takes 57 minutes take 2 hours. First unit that was delivered would not even do a load, a constant unbalanced error. Replacement unit does load however doing any kind of load takes for ever generates an unbalanced error two or three times a load. Machine has been re-leveled twice. Have had unit over 9 months.
I have never provided feedback on a purchase before but my continued disappointment in this washer/dryer set has prompted me to tell people what I wished I'd been told. The very things I liked best about this set in the store are the things I can't stand now. The windows - I thought it would be great to be able to see my laundry washing and drying. The truth is you can't see in the washer because the lid is fogged up or wet. All you see is the water spots left after. And, silly as this sounds, everytime I walk by the dryer and see my clothes in there reminding me I have something to do I get irritate. The large capacity - not good if you're petite. I have to stand on my tip toes to reach items in the bottom of the washer and if they're small I can't reach them. Same thing with the dryer. I have to practically crawl in to get small items from the back. The chrome trim on the doors - this is just a fingerprint magnet. To keep from constantly having to wipe them down I open the doors at the corners. But worst of all is that I paid a couple thousand dollars for this set and I've had to have it repaired twice in the first year. Never again will I spend big bucks on appliances. We should all just face it. They're as disposable as computers these days. My first Kenmore set lasted 25 years. The last set 8. At this rate I don't expect this set to last 5.
I miss the days where I can buy an appliance, and put my trust into it's quality. Especially with these price tags. Unfortunately for me, I bought this washer. I had "FE" displayed while trying to wash a load, so I grabbed the user's manual and read "Faulty water valve." Solution listed "Close water faucets, unplug the washer, and call for service." Yes, this is small and can be fixed, but it's going to take 8 days for someone to come to my home and fix it! Sure if it were just my husband and I, I can go that long without doing laundry. But, I have kids and pets... It's hard for me to wait that long. Along with that technical difficulty... The clothes are VERY wrinkled. So, this isn't a good washer if you want/like to hang dry items. (And no... I do not let my clothes sit in there) I also have issues with water levels (It started only 3 months after owning this new washer). The machine doesn't indicate there is a problem, but I've look upon a working load, I only saw a wet comforter. I paused the washer, and lifted up my one item (queen size comforter) and saw about an inch of water. It definitely didn't release enough water for the load. The matching dryer is great though! I do recommend that! Just not the washer. There shouldn't be this many technical difficulties with such a short time span.
