Watch out for burned Fingers
The two front burner knobs get so hot that you have to use a pot holder or something to protect you fingers when adjusting the flame height or off or you will burn you fingers and thumb when touching these knobs. That is unless you only use low heat! With low heat this problem does not happen. It is a safety issue that needs to be addressed. Be careful. Otherwise it cooks very well. A J

Uneven flame and poor controls make this a disappointment

I've had this product for over two years and wanted to let you know to steer clear of it. Besides looking nice, it is a disappointment. The large burner on the front left ignites like a small flame thrower, and then remains an uneven flame. The flame on the right side of that burner ring juts out farther than the rest of that same flame. It didn't do that from the very beginning but a few months down the road it started to become uneven. I use the cooktop about twice a week, to let you know how much I use it. Now, what I mean about poor controls is that, take for example the rear middle burner, you can turn the control **** from low to medium and barely see a difference in flame intensity, if at all. It is not very sensitive. Also, the labeling of the burners do come off with cleaning, which I am not as concerned about as the other issues. So for the high price of this item, I am very surprised at the quality.

Pretty nice - love appearance

I cook a LOT. This is a very functional unit - I wish it had one of the smaller burners at the front. I would advise having a professional adjust your gas as mine burned too high for the first six months and now works like a dream. Easy to clean.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Kenmore Cooktop

This is not for a everyday use kind of family.... stains and scratches very easily and the temperature settings (ie..high , low turbo-boil ) have completely erased. I did not use harsh chemicals , followed precise directions and cooktop looks old and its not even a year old !!! DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Kenmore Elite 36 Stove Top

The gas line pickup should of been in the middle in the back side. The second thing, no where it describes the electrical plug is on the right side and had no option to move it to the left side. This should had the option of left or right electric cord. Over all quality it is well made and solid. To turn on the burners it turns on right to left, not left to right. Different, but will get use to it. When cutting the hole out use the minimum dimensions it will fit perfect with no movement. Over all I like it. It would of got 5 stars for those minor options.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Pretty, but...

I have a problem with sooting from the dual ring burner and there is no adjustment pin for it unlike the other 4 burners. I generally avoid using this burner because of the sooting problem so it more like I have a 4 burner cooktop instead of 5.

I am a home canner and while the grates are nice for the pots and the flame control is nice (except that dual ring), the large pots overhang the edges more than I care for. Also, whether canning, or just cooking with large pans or pots, the burners get crowded and pots and pans cannot be centered.

I have also decided that I would much rather have 5-6 burners that are all the same! None of this "simmer" burner, "power" burner, "dual ring" burner stuff. Just 5-6 burners with a wide range of control. It does not need to go quite as low as the simmer burner, nor as high as the power burner. But if they were all the same, I would use them all more. I tend to use the 2 matching burners 90% of the time.

I also have to figure out how to clean off the brown staining around the burners without scratching the finish. I read about using Easy off cleaner but I really would like to avoid those nasty chemicals.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

The Kenmore Elite gas cooktop is the best!

Kenmore figured out that people who want a white enamel cooktop also want the black cast iron grates. No other brand seemed to offer that combination, and my wife was so tired of constantly scrubbing the gray grates on our former GE model. Bravo Sears!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I like it! I like it a lot!

This unit replaces a Kenmore gas that was weak and a pain to clean. This guy is twice the unit the old one was. Watch closely as it can boil and run over in a blink. Burners and grates are well designed and very functional. A really good value especially if you can get it on sale.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
