LP Conversion
I had an LP Conversion issue with mine and a faulty valve. Sears would not fix the LP problem (missing orofice). They will install it but leave it natural gas and you have to find someone to do the conversion. My contractor did initially but ran into adjustment problems and a missing orofice. It took 2 trips out by SEARS and they still didn't identify a faulty valve. That was diagnosed by an independent. I spent 3 weeks calling SEARS to get the parts. They initially agreed to send and I didn't receive them and went through 2 hours on the phone with 7 people before finding out that since SEARS wasn't scheduled to replace the part they canceled the order and never notified me. Finally got the one part ordered and they had to find the other from another source. Once both were in the house they agreed to service tech coming out to replace the valve. Then the independent installed the orofice. It cost me 90.00 out of pocket since SEARS wouldn't cover LP conversion under warranty. Be prepared to have someone else install and or convert the unit. Bottom line now that it works...I love it. Great grill features, love the bridge for larger pans and the turbo boil feature is great. Much better than Jennair. I doubt I'd buy another SEARS product that had to be converted after this experience. It really turned me off on their service.

Issues with burners and customer service

We purchased this cooktop with other Kenmore Elite appliances for our new home. Cooking is major thing for my wife. She always wanted a nice big cooktop. The cooktop is nice only problem is with the burners. The burners seems to have less flumes.(take more time to cook). The biggest burner stopped working after couple days. called and setup an tech appointment. Tech guy never came or called. I called next day and found out that someone( not us) called and reschedulethe appointment with our another service appointment for our refrigerator. so convenient  for them not us. This is the third time had experience with bad service.

Do not buy this - complete nightmare.

Installation was A COMPLETE NIGHTMARE - 12 days without a stovetop. I would go into detail, but SEARS will REJECT my review for the third time. The blower/fan on mine arrived with a severed wire (broken). Replacement took 6 days from my initial product order to arrive. The grates are not black as pictured - they are gray. It looks like the finish on the grates may flake off. The "stainless" gets filthy and fingerprint marks are crazy! It also scratches like crazy too - brand new stove is already scratched after 1 day of use. Turbo boil really is fast. I don't have a problem listed about the fan pulling the flame too close to the rubber gasket when cooking - maybe they fixed it?

Great cooktop in a downdraft

I searched for over 2 years for a downdraft model in a 36" opening. This one fit perfectly and did not require any adjustment to my cabinet. I love the varying sizes of burners and the one that works with a long griddle pan called a bridge.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good cook top but don't put knobs in dishwasher

We bought this cook top mid December 2013 and saw it on sale 3 weeks later. I asked about a rebate and they said the policy was 2 weeks. OK, I also was upset that we wiped down the control **** area and the black paint indicating high/low, etc started to disappear. Called Sears and that is not covered under warranty even for a 3 week old cook top. Next my wife placed the knobs in the dishwasher and when they came out, the "stainless" coloring was faded in some places and spotted in many other areas on two of the five knobs. Sears does not warranty the knobs on a five week old cook top. So now I am forced to purchase new knobs to replace the stained ones.while I have the original ones chromed or powder coated. Again, love the unit because it cooks great but the knobs and the printing on the control panel are of very low quality. Eventually, I will have to get decals made up to replace the painted on scripts...

Poor quality

Does not f look the same as online picture. It's stainless steel with dark gray burners instead of black. Our cooktop delivery and hook up was extremely stressful. I will not expand on the service regarding that experience but overall this cook top has been disappointing. It looks old in 2 months of light use. The writing on the cooktop indicating the flame strength such as mild med is already peeling off!!! The flame is dangerously high and can easily cause a Fire if left on high instead of medium. It's very difficult to get Sears.com to help regarding this.I spent hours on the phone regarding issues with delivery installment and now quality.. I am sorry I went with sears and had my granite cut to match these dimensions. Poor quality from Kenmore and very poor customer service from sears. STAY AWAY from this cooktop.

ELITE COOKTOP DANGEROUS! UNSAFE!

I have had this cooktop for a few months, it has done a fairly good job of cooking, BUT the full burner when turned on for griddling, and when the downdraft fan is used, is NOT SAFE. The fan will pull the flame into the rubber liner of the downdraft and then it will catch the rubber seal on fire!! The Sears technician has been out and he has verified this. It needs to be recalled!! The rubber liner needs to be replaced with silicone or something less flammable. I do have replacement coverage- but wanted to warn others! Also the exterior metal will scratch just looking at it...like aluminum, cannot believe it is stainless steal! When knobs have been bumped and the gas is barely on, the igniters have not always come on for safety ignite-another safety issue.... Overall unit is NOT SAFE!

Flaking Grates

My experience with Kenmore has always been a good one. However, the grates, on my less than 1 year old cooktop, are flaking constantly. I could've chosen a more expensive brand but felt confident in choosing a product from Kenmore. The flaked areas are all showing tiny rusty spots. I am not sure how to handle this issue. I have contacted Kenmore and will see how they choose to resolve the problem. Very disappointing purchase.

Least expensive, works great

Went from a 30" Electric Jenn-Air to this 36" downdraft cook top. Installed in Dec 2012. The down draft works just fine, does pull the side flames just a bit but you would do that with any down draft. Not very many Manafactures that make a down draft gas any more. This was the least expensive after many weeks of searching.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Sears will back up what they sell

We had a heck of a time with Sears installers. After 2 weeks, I hired a local contractor, Island Comfort on St. Simons Island, Ga. The unit is very nice, better than we expected. The local Sears store in Brunswick adjusted the price due to problems with their installer. Overall, we are very pleased with the unit and more so, with their understanding and adjustments they made. I would recommend this unit without hesitations

I would recommend this product to a friend.
