This Refrigerator is a big disappointment. Do not waste your money on this model. I was so happy with the looks and room inside. But from day one the ice maker shoots ice everywhere. Any time you use it you have to clean the floor up and the drips on the bottom half of fridge. We called and had a repair guy come to check the temp of the water along with the ice maker. His response was to use a pitcher instead of a glass. Not what you want to hear, he said that no adjustments can be made. Even using a pitcher ice hits the floor. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Why pay extra for an ice maker if you can use it?
Well laid out so can SEE everything, nice little shallow cubbies for very small things, adjustable shelves, good lighting, incredible fresh food crispers, really notice longer lasting veggies and crisper apples. Best thing is opening the doors and not seeing a crowded, jumbled mess. I thought I was ordering 'door in door' model and was at first dissapointed, but love this one after a month. Did not rate as excellent because although the water dispenser delivers excellent water it comes out at a trickle and cannot be programmed, one must stand there and wait, but it's worth it.
For a recent kitchen remodel (fall 2013) I selected this Kenmore Elite Refrigerator, as well as their Induction Range and Ultra clean Dishwasher. I love this frig! It's roomy, has many adjustable shelves, is quiet, and the ice maker works well. The between door seal is very good and works no matter which door has been opened first. At first I thought I'd never need so much room, but I've fed big crowds in the past few months and I have really appreciated the extra space. And the 3 major appliance match and are quite attractive.
I read about the trouble some are having with the ice maker. The owners manual covers most of the issues folks are having so I'm not to worried. Very quite can even hear it running or cycling. The indicated temp on the door is spot on. I really like the lighting inside of both compartments, very bright nothing is going to get lost anymore.
This fridge is great on size and layout versatility. Its got alot of cool environmental features to help reduce the energy bills. That withstanding, the general cooling system over cools and causes a persistent (although remediable) er1f errror that leaves the ice maker leaking water all over the floor. To prevent this from arising the freezer temperature needs to be raised to 2 degrees. Otherwise youll have to go into the freezer and clean out the ice thats frosted over the fans every 4 months or so. Advise everyone to buy the service plan or to invest in a less high tech device. Like an expensive car, itll have cool features but be very expensive to repair.
Purchased the Fridge in November of 2013 and the problems began. The freezer is defrosting on it's own, all my food is melting. 4 Technicians came, one changed the parts and three do no know how to fix it. They keep calling for technical support. Sears Customer Service is not great. I would never buy anything from Sears again. Taking time off from work to constantly have technicians come to my house and not fix anything and wasting money on food that I have to throw away everyday. Sears doesn't seem to care. They need to replace my fridge and refund my money from all the trouble and food I wasted.
I did a ton of research before buying this. I looked at every fridge in this class and above. By far this is the best fridge out there. It is huge and has a ton of door space which is lacking in other models. I have yet to fill it up even with all the trimmings for a dinner for 14 people plus our weekly groceries. The best purchase I made and the Sears rep was outstanding in helping create a suite purchase and saving big when he told me to wait for the sale.
