-Control panel is not sealed - any time water gets on it - whole thing stops working until water dries -Control panel doesn't have disable/lock in case you want to clean it -Half of the burners are useless because too weak -Top igniters didn't work consistently and now stopped working completely (after two years). Previous $300 GE model was working for years and years. Bottom line - in an age of technology this sort of design flaws is a total failure in my eyes. Don't know what to do with this ****
This is a low end range masquerading as a Kenmore Elite. Going back to Sears and getting a different model. Here's the issues: 1. None of the burners have even, continuous flame control. All of them jump from flame level to flame level unless you turn the control ever so gentle and slowly. They have a very small range of control. 2. The duel ring burner is great on high and great on low, but if you want to boil water and low simmer at the same time, you're out of luck. 3. The simmer burner simmers ok, but doesn't go low enough. Not as low as lo simmer on duel ring. Simmer burner not good for anything but simmer though. 4. Bridge burner, front and back burners, on left are worthless. Not high enough to boil, not low enough to simmer. Useless except to heat a griddle. 5. The center burner is a good all purpose burner but if you try to cook more than one thing at time, you'll also be using either the simmer burner, duel ring or both and you'll have crowded pots/pans fighting for space. 6. Because the burners are not flexible in what they can do, you have to move pots/pans around to get them on a burner that will cook at the right temp. 7. The grates aren't level with each other. Why? 8. I've run a self clean cycle on the oven twice, cooked at higher temps a couple times and the oven still stinks. Smells like residue. 9. The touch pad control panel doesn't have a lockout. You can't wipe/clean it without turning something on or off. 10. The oven internal cooling fan, which runs as long as the oven it hot, vibrates and make more noise than the 600cfm hood fan.
Hope you have a lot of time to take off work for service calls and then more service calls replacing parts that never improve this stove. This stove is awful and dangerous. We have had service on it 4 times. One technician tried to blame our propane. Although our other gas stove never had a problem. The large burner has no control. It is either huge flame or hardly a simmer flame. No in between. The burner will burn you hand when you need to stir anything in the pot if it isn't on simmer. The back burn won't cook anything just a simmer burner. The middle burner is useful; you can cook on that. The two left burners are completely useless. Can't heat anything up with these. Half the time only half of the burner will light. This is so dangerous I am cooking away only to realize that gas has been blowing out of half the burners. Then you turn it off and it won't light at all. Gas smell will fill the house. So bad we actually have to open windows because it makes us sick. The back burner won't light 50% of the time. It had done this since I bought it. The technician told me to actually blow on the burner to help light it. I pay $2700 for a stove and I have to blow on the burner. Are you kidding me. The service guy told me they have replaced all the parts and nothing else can be done. I said I think it is a bad design, he didn't say anything. The oven is small. Have a had time cooking pizza. I would stay away from the Sears Kenmore brand at all costs. You do not want to buy this stove. Cooking on this stove is terrible, won't light, no burner adjustment, very dangerous, expensive, awful sears service with an overpriced service warranty. What ever you do don't buy a stove. Do your research, I am not the only one with these same complaints. It is a faulty design. DO NOT BUY THIS STOVE, YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Built new Home and purchase in November 2012, first time I turned on the Oven the Electronic Fan got stuck and started burning. Had to power off unit and it took 2 service calls, 2 weeks to replace fan on NEW appliance and one use.
The main dual burner at the front of the stove is explosive when it ignites. The flame extends out over the controls. The ignition burnt my husband's knuckles. We have had 6 technicians out for a total of seven visits and they have told us there is no adjustment for this. It is normal for this model. They tell us others have complained as well. We thought that we would enjoy having the five burners but really this stove top is not large enough to accommodate five burners. We mostly use two burners because the one is dangerous and the two left burners are useless. The oven has quit working for no apparent reason on one occasion and similarly the stove top.

We had the range installed a week ago and love it - very easy to use, burners adjust to exactly the heat needed and over cooks very evenly. Very happy with it so far. The negative part was buying online - actually I called them and they misinformed me on several fronts - they promised delivery 2 weeks before it came. They also said the system wasn't working so I couldn't apply my Seas reward points that day but call back the next day - when i called the sale was over and would have had to reorder to use points and pay $500 more. Then the phone sales person picked a propane converter kit for the range and said the installer would do for free - it wasn't the wrong kit and the installer said the fee didn't include the propane conversion. Bottom line, go to the store to order any appliances from Sears - they are far more competent and honest.
I am very happy with this stove. I have always had a gas top but when we moved we had a flat glass top electric stove/oven. There were features I loved on that like the proof setting (for rising breads) and the temperature probe. But the white glass top was difficult to keep clean. Finally I was overjoyed when one of the burners died (the dual one I used all the time) so that I could get a gas top. Here in NM we eat alot of tortillas and the absolute best way to warm your tortillas is flipping over the gas burners. I had missed that. But I did like the electric oven especially the convection bake mode for its eveness. I debated about the stainless top or the black enamel top and am sooooo glad I got the stainless. It was a little more but after looking at the blacktops in the store just as the employees were cleaning them and saw all the dust from the cloth left behind and knew that was going to drive me nuts. The stainless is easy to clean but the control panel is still black and it does show all the dirt but like the stainless surface on the rest of the appliance I just use a paper towel and window cleaner and it shines right up and takes the prints and gease splatters right off. One complaint... it is too tall. Someone else made this complaint so I know it wasn't just us. The specifications lowest height it will go to is still higher than our counter. We ended up taking the wood flooring out underneath and it still is a quarter inch to high. Has the standard for countertop height changed? Why would they even make something that won't go low enough . We'll probably end up putting some kind of quarter round to fill that space. Other than that....I love it!
