Eliminating the need for bulky overhead ventilation systems, the Kenmore Elite 30" downdraft electric cooktop 4411 uses a powerful inset fan system to reduce the buildup of smoke and odors. Powerful 3-speed fans easily whisk gases and smoke away at the source. The sleek ceramic glass surface on this 30" downdraft electric cooktop features a 4400-watt bridge element, giving you more flexibility for your cookware. The innovative 9-in. Turbo Boil feature brings liquids to a faster boil, allowing you to make a cup of tea in less time.
- The 4,400 Watt bridge element has individual 7-inch elements for smaller skillets and pans that work together for griddles, stew pots and Dutch ovens, so you can cook any size meal.
- One of the fastest heating elements around, Electric Turbo Boil™ delivers 3,200 watts of heat in seconds, bringing pots and kettles to a boil without wasting your valuable time.
- A built-in Downdraft Ventilation System pulls away smoke, steam and odors fast without any overhead connections, for powerful ventilation that fits kitchen islands and peninsulas.

Looks great and works great, except that there is always cold air coming out of the downdraft...never experienced this with our previous Jenn-Air downdraft. We upgraded our cooktop and learned that these flat glass cooktops are really tough to clean! My Mother-in-law says that she uses razor blades to scrape hers...ugh! Really, after cooking, the last thing I want to do is have to scrub something to death to get it clean. And the cream cleaner that comes with it, does not do the job. I suppose I'll invest in some sort of tool to scrape it off with, because just boiling water for noodles made a huge mess. I honestly couldn't get it clean...weird!
This is a very nice cooktop. It looks beautiful in my kitchen only downside is it is hard to keep clean as any little imperfection or dust shows up. I love turbo boil it brings water to a boil in a matter of minutes. The main reason I gave this appliance 4 stars is the fact that it is a downdraft. Steam naturally goes up so nothing will be as affective as a range hood but since this is on an island I did not want a huge hood in the middle of my kitchen.

Just received the cooktop a couple of weeks ago, beautiful. Was cleaning off grease, lifted up the downdraft grate a few inches to get the grease under it, slipped out of my fingers, fractured the cooktop, now it's a fire hazard in the middle of my kitchen. I understand it's my fault for not being more careful, but I can't imagine I'm the first person this has happed to. The grate should have some type of feature designed in to it to make it easier to grasp and therefore not have drop out of your fingers when greasy. Also, I undderstand heat transfer is an important characteristic for a cooktop, but they could consider a more resistant, yes, less efficient, and therefore more reliable product. Something good has to come of this disaster.
I purchased this to replace an existing 30" Kenmore downdraft cooktop, that was pretty much identical. The old one still worked, but it looked a bit tired, so I decided to upgrade. It turned out to be much more than just a cosmetic upgrade. I like the bridge burner very much and the down draft on this one does a much better job than my old one. I agree with the review that suggests Kenmore should make the underside assembly more flexible. My fiance installed it for me and thank goodness he is very mechanically inclined. He had to reconfigure quite a few things to make it work. It did not just drop in easily to replace my old Kenmore downdraft. Making things reversible underneath would make for greater ease of installation. Can't wait to try my Turbo Boil.

I too replaced my JennAir with this cooktop. However...It wasn't a 1-for-1 swap. Online dimensions were different from spec sheet which were different from actual. Had to shave some marble. What a mess!! Had to fabricate a duct from the unit to the floor (made it out of duct tape). Make sure the unit fits, then attatch the blower BEFORE you drop it in. The large Rt. side burner is too close to the knobs. A regular skillet butts up against the knobs and therefore can't be centered on the burner. The hot counter-top safety lights are so discrete, you can't tell which burner is hot/on unless you have more than one hot. Always scanning to make sure burners are off rather than just hot.
I bought this cooktop directly from the store without even seeing it. I read the reviews online and needed a 30" electric cooktop when redoing my kitchen. When it came out of the box on, it was beautiful! I have had it now 2 weeks and I am beyond happy with this product. It warms quickly, and the bridge feature between the burners on the left is a plus!

Works well, no problems at this time. Vent plenum box needs to be reversible to give more options for ductwork to fit between floor joists. Requires a 6" duct for vent. That requires a very large hole in the side of your house. the old cooktop only required a 5" and for what you are moving (air and steam) i would think that a 4" would be sufficient. Uses most of the space under the countertop so reduces the amount of cupboard space.
Replaced previous Jenn Air with this downdraft model and pleased with function. Fan very efficient, bridge burners a plus!. Does take some extra care with cleaning though imagine this would be same for any glass/ceramic top. Happy with this choice!
