Kenmore Elite 30" Double Wall Oven - Bake in Style
The Kenmore Elite 30" double wall oven 4818 easily cuts your baking time in half, thanks to a pair of 4.2-cu. ft. ovens. Stacked one on top of the other, these self-cleaning convection ovens feature hidden heating elements that help bake dishes quickly and evenly. The porcelain oven racks have handles integrated right into their design, so as soon as the timer dings you can easily slide out the golden-brown goodies without burning yourself. For added safety, take advantage of the oven-lockout feature, which makes sure doors and controls stay off-limits to children.
- True Convection combines a powerful fan with a hidden heating element to spread heat evenly, helping bake, brown and crisp everything from turkeys and roasts to brownies and pies.
- From keeping a stack of pizzas toasty to cooking Thanksgiving dinner, this Kenmore delivers plenty of room, so you can load it up and enjoy hot, delicious meals, treats and more.
- The Convenient Temperature Probe produces perfect doneness every time by automatically turning off once your turkey or roast reaches precisely the right interior temperature.
- With the push of a button, the total wall oven lockout feature secures controls and prevents temperature tampering, especially from the smallest fingers in the house.
- A convenient control panel puts more oven settings at your fingertips, ensuring you choose the right cooking options with easy-to-use one touch selections.
- With a long-lasting finish that's less likely to tarnish or discolor than others, porcelain-coated oven racks keep foods from sticking and make cleanup fast.
- The Self-cleaning function conveniently cleans the oven's interior using high temperatures to burn spills, soil and soot away without a bit of scrubbing.

So, after 14 months of OK use, we were cooking using the broiler and there was a loud bang from inside the control panel and the panel went blank. The oven is now permanently dead. The broiler had only been on a few minutes. Sears, this is a $3000 oven, and two months after the warranty expires it dies? - Totally unacceptable. We will be calling Sears to attempt to get a fix even thought the warranty is over, for the price of the oven a 5 year warranty should be standard. Very disappointed.
I've had these for over a year now. I love having a double oven but this one has several drawbacks. It doesn't brown evenly so I have to bake on one of the top racks so the bottom doesn't burn. I also have to rotate things like pizza so they cook evenly. I made the HUGE mistake of lining the bottom of the oven with foil when I first got it, which melted and completely ruined the metal of the oven. I wish it had a timer for each oven rather than just one timer. I do LOVE the built in meat thermometer which you can have the oven beep when it reaches a preset temperature (only available in the top oven). The external look is sleek and pretty. My old Kenmore dual-fuel range baked evenly and I always had it lined with a foil tray or plain foil.
We bought a full kitchen suite of Kenmore Elite appliances and had them delivered to our new home in October of 2013. It cost us over $6000. We love the look of the appliances and were overall satisfied with them until just a few weeks ago when the lower oven started making a grinding noise when it was first turned on. We didn't move into the home until January of 2014. That means the oven has seen less than 12 months of use but the warranty expired in October of 2014. When we first noticed the noise, I called Sears and explained the problem to them. The technician came out and said we have a bad motor and it will cost $250 to replace. It is crazy to me that a $2000 oven doesn't last for more than one year before needing a repair like this. What's more, we hardly use the oven! The lower oven hasn't been used more than 7-10 times in the past year. Sears hid behind the warranty and stuck us with the bill. I understand warranties but there are some exceptions that should be made and this is one of those examples.
after I used the self clean option ,the bottom heating element stopped working (burned). of course being out of warranty I had to pay for a new one even though the oven is only 1,5 year old
Don't buy this oven unless you have an exhaust fan or hood vented to the outside of the house. Cooking a turkey using the roast function or using the self clean function filled our house with smoke. There was so much smoke we had to open all the windows and use a fan to exhaust the smoke to the outside of the house. We were afraid that the smoke alarm would go off. The oven uses fans to exhaust heat and smoke from the front of oven into the room in which the oven is located. There is no non convection roast mode for the oven. We had the Sears repairman come out to look at the problem and he confirmed that that is how the oven works. I would not have bought this oven if I had known this, The old double wall oven we replaced did not have this problem.
I have had the "Repair Crew" out and it was like "Its all your fault" or at least that When I use the Convection Roast, it has beeped and told me it is now to temperature for "Roasting"( I now have meat of some kind in the oven!) I set the timer, walk away... come back and vola... it has shut down... I have now learned to baby sit the oven for a bit to be sure that it doesn't shut down... If there were something in the manual to cover this... or the Tech knowing... how to solve I would have really appreciated it... BUT THE IS NOTHING IN THE MANUAL ABOUT HOW TO PREVENT the oven from SHUTTING DOWN in the cooking process... I think I am going to try the 20 minutes wait before loading my food in the future (Another reviewer suggested this)
We purchased (what we thought were) 'high-end' appliances for our new home thinking that we would have a quality product, without issues. We did our entire kitchen in Kenmore 'Elite' appliances and couldn't be more disappointed. Specifically, this oven that we've owned for less than two years will not keep to temperature and now is spontaneously shutting itself off while baking. Sears wants to charge us another fee to come out and look at the same issue we've been having since we purchased this appliance in October 2011. PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. SAVE THE HEADACHES AND DO NOT BUY KENMORE APPLIANCES. THEY ARE ****. THEY HAVE LITTLE TO NO WARRANTY AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AFTER THE SALE IS PATHETIC.
Oven has nice features and all works well EXCEPT to bake cakes, brownies or cookie bars! The bottoms of items get charred to a crisp, while the top and middle is on the undercooked side. Tried Bread/Cakes feature and normal bake cycles. Repairman was out. He calibrated the oven temperature lower, and said to preheat oven 20 minutes at least. Didn't help my problem, as items still continue to burn. Fiddled with different pans, lowering temperatures, decreasing cooking times, and "baby sitting" everything that gets baked in fear of it burning. End results still vary from being too raw or burnt on the bottom and/or edges! Second repairman lowered the oven temperature again and recommended putting an empty cookie sheet on the lowest rack while baking. To pacify him, I attempted that. Had to keep adding time to the baking time now. One recipe still came out raw even though it looked perfect on top and bottom. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THIS OVEN!
Great product. I am using my oven almost everyday since the installation. Just love it...very quiet... and fast cooking on the conventional oven. The sales person was great...the installation was great...the product is great. Very happy with the whole process.
