fantastic dishwasher
I've had this dishwasher for a month. It is a new model, released on Feb 23rd. The other reviewer who gave it one star claiming they've owned it for over a year has got other issues besides a bad dishwasher. Previously I owned another Kenmore Elite for 13 years, and it started acting flakey, so after trying a couple low cost fixes (thermal fuse) that briefly worked, I decided it was time for a new one. A lot has improved in 13 years. I picked this one up and installed it myself. (Don't forget the dishwasher install kit with the 3/4" garden hose to 3/8" comp. drain fitting...) It's is super quiet. I have to put my ear up to it when it is running to listen. It's louder when draining but still very quiet. Lots of room for dirty dishes. The clean styling and hidden controls are nice. The front status light is blue when running, red when drying, and green when finished. With the modern HE dishwashers, cycle times are much longer and rinse aide for proper drying is mandatory.

Underbuilt and overpriced
This dishwasher seems to wash well, is quiet and it looks good but has poor interior build quality. The tub is stainless steel. Almost everything else on the interior is plastic. Most concerning is the fact that structural support for the top rack relies on plastic parts. When the top rack is out and loaded with heavy dishes, it has a tilt that makes it appear to be on the verge of collapse. If the dishwasher is closed by pulling off center on the door, the entire tub flexes. This does not inspire confidence. Adequate drying requires the use of rinse aid. This appears to be a "feature" of most new dishwashers. Seems like a step back. Other dishwashers I've used completely dry without rinse aid. Even with rinse aid, substantial puddles of water are usually left in this dishwasher after a cycle. Some of the puddles are trapped by poorly designed parts that prevent the water from ever draining in certain areas.

stop working after 2.5 years

My previous Kenmore worked for over 8 years. The new one stopped working after 2.5 years. I checked the service code and all that, looked like motor was bad. It's out of the 2 year warranty. Service call will cost me $129 just for the visit (labor and parts will be extra). I felt like they just want to sell their protection plan. Very disappointed! Sears will go down, now they are losing the only a few good things left (Kenmore appliance, Craftsman tools).

I've had this dishwasher about month it works great. The dishes are very clean and it is Super Quiet, kitchen is next to family room and don't even know its working because we can't hear it. Good choice for a quiet dishwasher.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Brand New....doesn't work

Couldn't be more disappointed. Bought brand new dishwasher. It didn't work. The problem wasn't the service, the guy showed up to help. The problem is now, it is going to cost us more money for a replacement because a contractor installed it as part of a new kitchen. Disappointing and frustrating as the problem isn't the installation, but the product sold to us.

Don't Be Fooled By the High Price - This Thing is Worthless

I bought this dishwasher in May of '14 and have had >8 service calls to replace sprayers, pumps, and two electronic units. In each case the tech had to come back because they sent the wrong part. So my wife and I have been washing dishes by hand for over five months of the eight months we've owned this piece of junk. But even when it did run - it never really "worked" - it did not clean the dishes to our satisfaction. After seven months of service calls we got credit for the price we paid for this poorly designed and even more poorly manufactured - do they have a QA/QC department at Kenmore? - appliance I've received credit for $869 of the >$1,000 I was flim-flamed out of for this paper weight. Do not - I repeat - do not even consider this "dishwasher". I used the store credit to buy a Bosch 500. I'll let you know how that turns out in the next two or three months.

Does not stop running and cheap parts

I purchased all Kenmore Elite appliances for my kitchen remodel. If I could do it all over again, I would stay far away from any and all Kenmore Elite brands. Here are the pros and cons for this particular dishwasher. Pros: Looks nice and does a decent job at cleaning the dishes. The HE Filter Trap is easy to clean and a nice feature my old dishwasher did not have. Cons: In "Quick Wash" it runs for hours. In other modes it runs all night and into the morning(which is why it probably does a good job cleaning the dishes!). The gap between the bottom of the door and where you slide out the lower rack is too wide, this causes the lower rack to always get stuck between the two. There's a lot of cheap plastic parts. The wheels on the racks are low grade plastic and not very sturdy. I am sure I will have to replace them every few years due to cracking or wearing out. The stainless steel Kenmore uses is also very substandard compared to GE, Bosch, Electrolux and other brands in this price category.

Looks nice and very quiet but multiple issues with interior plastic parts

Too many plastic parts in the interior with 4 broken pieces requiring $75 to replace total just out of warranty; very quiet and we're pleased with that and easy to install; however 'elite' appliances shouldn't depend on tiny plastic pieces prone to breaking

Beautiful, big & quiet

Although dishes came out cleaner on our old standard Maytag in the regular setting. This one needs a few settings pressed for clean dishes, which means it takes longer to wash them. It is bigger, so it's all good.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Substandard Design and Materials - be care, failure could be dangerous

3 of the 4 wheels operating the upper dish rack fell off after 20 months, causing the rack to fall down upon the dishes in the bottom rack. The plastic prongs that hold the wheels are made from inferior plastic that can not hold up to the rigors of the heat and water that is part of the washing process. Also, the flimsy design used to retain the wheels on the prongs is inadequate. The 2 year parts warranty is no good because Sears makes you pay a repair man to come out and diagnose what is wrong, at a hefty fee. So you pay $100 or so to save $50. Don't fall for the warranty. This is not a $1000 plus dishwasher. When they sell it for less than $500, I would consider it. Just plan on replacing the wheel mechanism every year and a half or so. Wow, what a piece of ****.

Before You Install do this FIRST!!!!

Very quiet. Does great job washing. Make sure you clean the strainers out frequently. NOTE: There are several hose clamps on this machine. They will come loose eventually. Depending upon which clamp comes loose you will either have water spraying underneath getting wiring connections wet and possibly shorting out your control board resulting in an expensive repair. Search Fault code F2E2 on the intranet to verify what I am saying. The other clamp is on the pump. I had this clamp come loose and I don't need to tell you the mess that created. I replaced both hose clamps with "worm gear hose clamps". I was very lucky that I didn't have an electrical problem and the machine started back up after drying out. So, when you get your machine. Flip it on it's side or front to get access to the bottom. Then replace the hose clamps you see. I replaced two. Maybe you should replace all of them with more reliable clamps.
