Definite problem with this machine. Every load had 2 - 3 dishes come out dirtier than when they started. Inside of dishwasher did not dry out. Had it for 2 weeks and they are replacing it. Sears was easy to work with about this.
We have 2 small kids and run the dishwasher at least once a day cleaning up after everybody. We hoped the high price would be worth it, and it was. First, it is QUIET. If you're talking or have a TV on in another room, you can't hear it. I can only hear it running if the kitchen is totally silent, and it's quieter than our refrigerator. It also cleans really well. Dried on food, greasy pans, and burnt on food all come out completely clean. We don't prewash anything anymore. We made the switch to detergent tabs, which seem to work best. The only downside is that it takes a while to dry the dishes, and even though it says "complete", you have to wait another hour for the dishes to dry. If you use the dishwasher a lot, it's totally worth the money.

The machine has a quality built feeling although much of it is plastic. I was shocked to see the hunks of junk put out by whirlpool, LG, even Bosch. I was about to go for the Electrolux but decided to give the Kenmore a look. This unit has the bells and whistles, CRAZY quite, only thing I hear is a slight hum. Folks complain about the controls on top being to sensitive, they are but the child lock takes 3 seconds to engage, 3 seconds to disengage. The best part, It actually cleans dishes. I read reviews of other units in the $700 range with many folks complaining dishes come out dirty. Other reviews mentioned it doesn't dry, well dishes and silverware are super shiny and super dry. Overall, very happy with the purchase thus far. Looks nice, close match to my whirlpool fridge (thinking I should have bought kenmore). Delivery was eh (came slightly damaged, sears stepped up and did everything to make me happy), Installer was a pro. I bought the warranty, although sears warranty is expensive, it covers way more then the cheap **********/ ***** warranty. Hopefully this unit will run for the next decade.

I wanted to write this review because I read all the other reviews prior to purchasing this dishwasher. I must admit I was worried about some of the reviews and I personally don't think Consumer Reports opinion adds up to more than a hill of beans. I was also concerned about the one review stating the dishwasher warped her cabinets because my kitchen setup has the dishwasher's only vent (left top side) less than 2 inches away from my cabinet because my kitchen is L shaped. I am also replacing a 15+ year old dishwasher that was so loud and when it finished drying, the dishes were too hot to handle for another 30+ minutes. I have only had this dishwasher now for 3 weeks so I cannot comment yet on its longevity, but I can tell you this dishwasher has more than lived up to its and my expectations. The dishwasher is extremely quite other than when it is filling up with water or changing to drying can you really hear anything and that is barely audible. My dishes, cups, mugs, silverware and plastic-ware ALL come out clean and DRY - NO spots and NO water left behind inside the machine, on the racks and not on the items inside. I will say I had the dishwasher professionally installed and they told me to run the machine empty on the longest and highest setting prior to using it with dishes to remove remaining deposits from the manufacturing process. After that, I have been running the machine on the Smart Wash and Smart Dry mode with Finish powder soap and Finish Jet-Dry rinsing agent. I was told long ago not to use liquid soap because it clogs the machines. I also pre-rinse my items because do you really want all that left over debris going through your dishwasher? I also run my dishwasher most of the time at night so everything probably has been left sitting in there for several hours before it is emptied. Lastly, my concerns about the vent so far seem to be a non-issue. I have placed my hand on the vent during washing and drying and I can barely notice anything coming out, there is no noticeable heat or steam and my cabinet is fine. My old unit vented out the front, you could see the steam when drying and you could get burned from the steam. I hope this dishwasher does last the test of time, but I can only speculate that for now. I also do not see and issue with the top rack's construction. It seems well made (as good as any other dishwashers I looked at) the racks easily slide in and out. Plus I don't really have the need to adjust the top rack often. As far as everything else, this machine is the best in my book!
This dishwasher washes better than any I have seen. It takes a lot longer to wash than older dishwashers due to the soaking cycles. The reason for 4 stars versus 5 is with a few of the features. First, the literature (and the salesperson) said the bottom could accomodate up to 13-inch plates -- not true. even with the top shelf all the way up, there is only 11 1/2 inches of clearance to the sprinkler arm. Also, what they won't tell you is that the top shelf can't be removed on this model. Lastly, the mechanism that moves the shelf up and down takes up space where the glasses go, making it more difficult to load.
