I research everything to the enth degree when buying something in this price range. My recent interest in cake decorating found me needing a good stand style mixer. There are several competitive ones out there. My mind was made up to get a KitchenAide, but in this price range is seems they may have cheapened the machine up too much for the good of the brand. The problems people advised on that unit lead me to find this Kenmore as an alternative. I've had mine for several weeks now, used it for some heavy work and absolutely satisfied of my choice to go with Kenmore / Sears. The machine is well made, has a handy light, 2 good bowls, and conveinently accepts the optiona KA attachments. Add the 5 year warranty vs 1 years, more modern look, it's just the best value out there in this price point. Sure, I'd liked a "designer color", but my black one looks great, white and red available also, but black or white, you can't go wrong when money and quality are the most important.
Simply, love it. (and it's not so terrible noise as some say, it's mixer for crying out loud, so is my vacuum cleaner.)

I purchased this mixer two days ago and used it today for the first time. I love this product. My cake mixed and baked just fine, but I am having trouble removing the stainless steel bowl from the base. It has gotten stuck twice! Once while the bowl was empty and once when the bowl was full of my delicious cake batter ready to go in the oven. My husband had to remove the bowl both times for me and he had to use real force! This morning we put some WD-40 on the grooves in the base. If this doesn't work, I'll be contacting Kenmore! Hopefully this will solve the problem and then I can give it 5 stars!
I was obscessed with getting a kitchen aid mixer, but they were just so expensive, So I researched different models. I didnt even know kenmore made small appliances, They are a trusted brand, so I bought it , tried it , loved it. It made mixing easy and clean without splatter. I tried all the attachments the first day I bought it. Made eggs whites into a fluffy pouf, dough- no problem, mixing a cake mix, done in a jiff.
I love this mixer. The only, and big, downfall is that after 1 year of use the enamel is chipping off of the top of my mixer blade. not even an area that may hit the bowl. This is an issue and makes it unusable as it randomly keeps chipping and don't want chips of enamel in my baking. Very difficult to find replacement attachments. next time I'm getting the kitchen aide Other than that the mixer works great!
I made a batch of cookie dough yesterday. I can't believe how easy it was, no more stress on my hands! The Kenmore mixer is so easy to operate. I only wish I'd gotten it years ago.
I was reluctant to buy a Stand Mixer. I wasn't sure if I would get cost to value as they can be expensive. But Sears had an excellent deal on this Kenmore 5 & 3 qt. mixer. I like it in every way although it is rather loud. I have used it now about a dozen times and almost all have been for mixing cakes. If I remember correctly the other times have been for making whip cream and mayonnaise. Unfortunately, I have noticed the enamel/paint is beginning to chip on the Flat Beater. I have been careful to wash in top rack of dishwasher only and/or by hand. I have not been able to find replacement parts and/or accessories yet through Sears and/or Kenmore. However, the owner's manual states under the attachments section, "A leading brandname appliance maker offers a diverse selection of food preparation attachments that will connect to the Hub, and are fully functional with this Kenmore Elite Stand Mixer." My assumption is that this is for the KitchenAid brand? If true this is a nice feature since there are quite a few attachments available for KitchenAid Stand Mixers. I will replace my Flat Beater with a KitchenAid accessory and hope that it is my flat beater only and not a design flaw. I will post an update once my new Flat Beater arrives and gets some use. I will recommend this stand mixer, but with caution due to the flat beater enamel/paint chipping issue. James

Thank goodness it has a 5 year warrenty because I wouldn't be as thrilled with the product. I used it maybe a dozen or so times makeing cake batters and frostings and it did great... then... i made Dough for noodles and somthing went wrong and The allignment went off. The next time I used it for my cake batters its started chipping the ceramic off the paddle and dented the bowl... As far as power and convienience with the led light in the bowl its amazing but pasta lovers beware... the hand method might be the way for you.
I love the Kenmore stand mixer I got! It was free with my reward points and shipped right to my house. It works great and I am really happy with it. It comes with 3 attachments (dough hook, whisk, and mixer) and looks great!
I got this mixer from Sears in Bermuda in January 2013 for $ 349. In Bermuda they offer 30 days warranty only. After about 2 months I noticed light oil spills on top of the mixer utilities, however, they were in the center and the plate on top of the utilities was big enough to prevent food spoilage. I read about similar problems in other reviews. Now, in August 2013, the mixer suddenly starts when switched off! It turns 1 to 2 revolutions, and stops again. The switch's bue light blinks. This even happens when the mixer is in the up position, which can be quite dangerous if you are near with your arms because you add ingredients or so, and it can create a big mass and injuries. So you have to unplug it every time you turn it off as advised by the manual, even only for a minute!! But a week or so later it did not start when turned on (still starts when turned off). It takes several attempts before it starts correctly. Sears in Bermuda tells me they are not even able to repair it because they have nobody who can repair the machine. If you have a US Sears market near by who can do repairs, you might be happy as long as the US warranty lasts. I bought it mainly for kneeling bread dough and though it looks like a Kitchenaid and co, kind of stable and strong, but the electronic switch is just bad quality, it seems. The led lights don't give enough light either, they are useless unless you work in a kitchen without any light at night. Also, if you have small amounts (1 to 2 cups) in the bowl the beaters don't get t it sufficiently, so forget to make whipped cream or beat egg whites. I am very frustrated with the mixer and with Sears Bermuda.
