Chose this model because of the raves about the warranty. I'ts loud when grinding but I don't find that to be a problem. The coffee is the best I've ever had! We only use the grind and brew feature. Wish you could get a stainless steel thermal carafe for the unit, but the coffee is plenty warm enough even at the shutoff point.Use the brush, keep it clean!
About to purchase my third brewer. The first was returned about 18 months after purchase because grinder stopped working. The second is being returned today, after one year, because the water won't brew. Like the other reviewer said, good thing it has a 5-year warranty.
I actually really like this coffee maker, however about 35 to 45 minutes after brewing the coffee becomes scorched and I have to throw it out. I brew Starbucks coffee which is pretty expensive so I'm tired of wasting so much money. I work from home and enjoy drinking coffee for the first couple of hours of my workday, I could do this with my previous coffemaker with no diminish of taste but with this one, my first two cups are great but it becomes undrinkable after that. I think a thermal carafe would solve the problem, however Sears doesn't offer one for this coffee maker. I even went as far as buying a different brand thermal carafe but unfortunately it did not fit. I'm returning the coffeemaker.

Making World Class Coffee is a dream with this machine. There is nothing that compares to fresh brewed coffee from fresh ground beans! We are on our 5th one of these in about 7 years. In 3 of them, the water heater failed and the grinder failed in the other one. They all lasted anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. The 5 year warranty is what makes it a good deal. Only once did I have trouble finding a replacement, but they are now readily available. Hang on to your receipt and warranty book and when it fails take it back to any Sears and swap it for a new one with a new 5 year warranty.
I loved the look of this machine. The controls weren't as intuitive as you'd hope, but it made excellent coffee while it worked. Alas, like others have reported, the machine just died on me after about 8 months of daily use. Luckily, it has a 5-year warranty. I'm recommending this still since it has the 5-yr warranty. But if it only had a 90-day warranty, I would not.
This coffee maker quit working within 6 months, there are never any in stock to get a replacement! The absolute worse Kenmore product I have ever seen. Would not even get another except that it has a 5 year warranty and it cost a lot of money!
I've had this machine for about 3.5 years, use it 5 days per week and it is a great machine. I have noticed that at first it ground a LOT more coffee and over the years I've had to up the setting and I'm now at the maximum (12 cups--strong) and it is barely strong enough at that level. I rarely write reviews but was so surprised at the bad reviews here I thought I let you know of my experience.
I was given a Kenmore Elite Grinder and Coffee Brewer (100.94006) for Christmas 2011 and the unit has stopped working. Grinder works fine, but the heater does not turn on therefore the water is not brewed. I have only used filtered water in this unit from day one as well. I do not have a receipt as this was a gift, but it does have a five year warranty. I just left the Sears Store and they could not help me with this issue. I was told that I must have a receipt. What am I supposed to do now? I have purchased 2 additional carafes for this as I tend to break coffee pots while cleaning them. So now I have 2 coffee carafes ($50.00) and a coffee maker that will not work and Sears will not honor the warranty. Checking the online reviews on the Sears website, I found that this is an issue with these units. It would seem to me that Sears would honor a warranty ESPECIALLY when the issue is a KNOWN problem. I know what I am going to do......I will NEVER set foot into a Sears store again.
