Very nice quality, convection works great too!
Product looks good and is easy to install. Very silent when in use and does a great job heating up the food. The bad part of it is the clock light on it. It can be pitch dark and I still can't see the time. You have to be 2 feet from it to actually see the time. If I'm a little ways from it it actually makes me dizzy starring at it trying to guess the time. It's a great microwaveif you don't care about reading the clock on it.
The reviews I read for this unit are correct. It is somewhat under powered, the one light for the inside is not enough to see inside during cooking (its actually dark inside), there is really on one speed for the exhaust fan (on and 90% on), and the beep-beep that tells you it's done, never stops!! (until you open the door). My old microwave, that was just a microwave and not also convection oven, it took about 1 min and 30 sec to warm up a cup of water. This one takes about 2 min and 30 sec to get to the same temperature. On the plus side, microwave popcorn doesn't burn in this unit if you leave it in too long. The hot air convection cooking option is OK, it just takes a long time to heat up. I should have just gone with a simple microwave only. Which is not offered in the "Kenmore Elite" brand.
We love having the microwave and convection in one unit. A little disappointed that the microwave is low powered and the lighting didn't utilize state-of-the-art LED's like our refrigerator has, but overall the design and function are quite good.
This is our first microwave with the convection option so have some concerns. First off, the light in the oven is so dim that you cannot see what is going on until the turntable brings the food to the light side. When it is on the dark side, you cannot see anything. Come on, another light or a brighter one would have been a big help. Also the micro power is only 900 watts. I know they lowered it to get the energy star rating but wow does it cook slowly. Guess we'll have to get used to that. As for the convection feature: after it starts cooking, it kicks on the vent fan which is close to a train traveling through your kitchen. Very loud and annoying. The salesman did not warn us about that and they don't have one hooked up in the store for you to try out so you won't know until you cook with it. We have not noticed a significant reduction in cook time so may just go back to the toaster oven. The storage for the two inserts that you need when using the convection is a pain anyway. Over all...not that impressed with the unit and wish we had picked something else sans the convection. Also, on a final note...the range light is very dim so not much help when cooking below the microwave if you want to see what is going on.

Replaced a standard on the counter microwave with this. No comparsion.

We love the microwave. It was so easy for my husband to install and it looks great above our range (which is a GE but the stainless steel matches perfectly). It works like a charm. Would highly recommend it.

Looks sleek and works great. Can use as a microwave or convection oven.

Very nice looking and works well. The blue light for the time is hard to read from a distance and also having all the buttons black makes for reading them a little difficult too. But all in all seems to be a great product.

This microwave does well in most of the fundamental operations, but it has certain things that really need improvements. The FAN only has 2 speeds and the OFF function, but when the FAN is working it produces a lot of noise on any speed and there is no major noise differentiation between switching from one speed to another. There is a horizontal panel right below the door, which is intended to protect the door from the heat generated from the range. Initially, such panel was getting in direct contact with the lower part of the door and producing a friction noise every time we closed the door. In order to fix it the Sears technician pulled the panel to increase the clearance with the door a bit wider in order to avoid the direct contact with the door. The internal light is almost inexistent and the alarm to indicate the finalization of cooking is really annoying because of the long and recurring beeps. As we have been upgrading our kitchen with Kenmore Elite stainless steel appliances (refrigerator & range) we chose this MW in order to match them, bearing into consideration that the handles and illumination color are different between Kenmore Elite and Kenmore, as well as with other brands. Our alternative option was a Whirlpool MW that also comes with blue illumination (matches Kenmore Elite style) and kind of closely similar handle, although not an identical design. We opted for this Kenmore Elite MW for consistency, but we are considering the option of returning this one within the first 30 days and getting the Whirlpool instead, which has great reviews from Consumer Reports, although it is not a convection device. I hope this helps others.
