Perfect for a bedroom!
After doing careful research, I though I knew what I was looking for in humidifiers. I started in a local (small-town) Sears store where the selection was sparse, and found this unit. Quite honestly, this very basic and low-priced unit was not what I'd intended to buy, but I was desperate to take a humidifier home & bought this as a "back up" plan. Yes, I did find a "bells & whistles, ultrasonic, no-filter, hot-shot" unit at a big box store, but after running both units for 48 hours, the pricey one went back and we've kept the Kenmore Cool-Mist because it is so easy to use and it easily raises the humidity in our home without the white dust and odor of the souped-up model. In fact, I headed straight to KMart and found a second, larger Kenmore Cool Mist unit of the same basic design for our family room. Both are quiet on the low settings and we actually enjoy the subtle white noise at night. Yes, we will have to replace the filters in a few weeks, but I've found those online and don't expect a problem or much expense there. We're so pleased with the no-frills, functional, operation of our Kenmore humidifiers. Forget the claims of more expensive units and stick with the Kenmore cool mist humidifiers. You won't be disappointed.

Cheap and fake
Don't buy this! I bought is as a single room humidifier. When filling the tank in the bathtub I accidentally dropped it about 1 foot from the faucet to the floor of the bathtub. The tank ruptured rendering the unit unusable. Being broken, I decided to take it apart. Very easy to disassemble. The first thing I noticed is that the wheel that allows you to dial in the month isn't attached to ANYTHING! It has absolutely no effect. On some humidifiers changing the date increases humidity in dry/cold months like January. Not here, its just fake! This is an evaporation based unit, it has a cheap cardboard tube which soaks water and a fan which evaporates the water. This does not function like a Crane or other decent humidifiers. In my unit, which we only used for a month their was already MOLD growing on the cardboard. On the positive side I got a nice two speed motor and propellor blade when I disassembled the unit.

Cool Mist Humidifier

This was the 3rd humidifier I have purchased this winter. The others were not this make and model, and did not last very long. This humidifier is nice and quiet. It performs very well for what I need it for. I live in a mobile home and it is very dry in the winter time with the furnace running. The dryness affects your sinuses as well as static! I am very pleased with my purchase. The sales people were very helpful and courteous and also offered the replacement plan for this item. Which I did purchase since I had so many prior purchases for a similar item. I would recommend this item to others. I had not shopped at Sears in quite some time. I was very happy with the service I received. Also the store was very nice and clean and well organized. Employees were helpful in directing me to the department I need to go to. Thank you!

good humidifier

It's a small unit to use in a small bedroom. During our recent cold days it increased the humidity in the room from 6% to 23%. It is lightweight. Although it must be refilled everyday, it's easy to get under the spigot and fill.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Good Product

I bought this humidifier for my bedroom/living room. It is doing great job, when its on , I don't feel my lip or skin cracking with dryness. setting 1 is silent but setting 2 is a bit loud but I will be keeping this as I am happy with this purchase otherwise. I might buy another one in future too.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Works Well.....BUT

The Humidifier works fine. I had a bad chest cold with dry cough and needed something rather quickly one evening. I use it in a 1 bedroom apartment and it works great. I gave it a 3 star rating based on the price of the replacement filter which as I told the support assistant was absurd! The filter is suppose to be replaced every 30 days and the BEST price that the support agent could offer me, which is what he referred to as their preferred customer price, was more than 1/3 of the cost for the entire humidifier when I purchased it new. Based on 6 months of use you will have paid for your humidifier 3 times. That's unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. As I said earlier, I needed a humidifier rather quickly in the evening, I'll be purchasing a more operational cost efficient humidifier now that I have the time to look around, research and find something that won't be drinking my wallet dry while putting moisture in the air! If you don't mind spending money on filters, this humidifier will work fine. If you're like me, I'll spend a little more at the onset for a humidifier that's cost efficient and saves me money to operate. Side Note: FYI, The earlier review that said, "the first thing I noticed is that the wheel that allows you to dial in the month isn't attached to ANYTHING! It has absolutely no effect." It's not suppose to be attached to anything. It's called a, Filter Reminder Dial, you set it on the month that you placed a new filter in the unit as a reminder as to how long it's been since you last changed the filter and if it's time to change the filter again. I thought that it was kind of a handy reminder instead of writing it on a calendar or trying to remember it yourself. To bad the replacement filters are so expensive. You should look into that Sears, Bad R&D!

Doing the job

So far this humidifier is doing the job. It is quiet. Which is nice since we bought it for the bedroom. We are considering if we want to get one for the living room.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
