Purchased to replace an aging much larger Console Humidifier. Has been running for two months. Easy to set up, I find the lowest and quietest setting quite adequate for moving a lot of water. The two separate tanks make adding water easy. I have experienced no leakage problems. Recommend it highly.
First off we found this exact same thing at another discount store for much less money so we returned this one unused to Sears. Returning it unused to Sears was a good thing for them because we returned the one we purchased for $40 less at the other discount store used. On low speed the noise was OK but it did not put out enough moisture. Turn it up one speed and it was much too load to have in the main living area. So we returned both and ordered one of the bigger console models that we are very happy with.
We've had this unit for about 3 years, used only in the winters. It works pretty well for what it is. It has never leaked for us, but then, we only run it on hard surfaces.-- It's a simple design, nearly completely plastic. Some would say its ugly plastic but honestly, I'd rather have that rather than metal that rusts out over time. -- The vents blow in a fixed direction (diagonally up) and there are only two speed settings, full-blast and low / nearly silent. On low, it is quieter than any humidifier I've owned (both steam and cold units). We have a wood stove that dries out the air severely and this unit alone can keep the air much more comfortable in the main living area of our house. We still have to use small units for the bedrooms.-- The tanks are easy to fill, can be filled one at a time and are easy to slip into place as long as the back of the unit is not flush up against a wall. Yes, they drip a little bit while moving them around, but not much. The openings are large enough for your hand to fit inside to wash them. They don't get visibly dirty, but it is reassuring to clean them at the beginning and end of the season.-- The filter needs cleaning fairly often; we rinse it with our water sprayer in the sink when it gets dirty and we add disinfectant to the water reservoir. We've only needed to buy a new filter a few times over the years. -- Most of the poor reviews are from folks putting it on carpet--something that seems risky for ANY appliance with a bunch of water in it.
i bought 1 of these last year. my mistake. the filter's my biggest complaint. they recommend that you rinse them out weekly and change them monthly.(at $30.00+ a whack) it may survive the 1rst rinse-out, but for sure by the 2nd, the plastic mesh that is supposed to support it will disintegrate and all fall apart.when that's gone, the filter just collapses and is worthless. the filter is also difficult to replace because of units design. i guess you are supposed to completely empty it of water and turn it upside down to install the new filter and then carefully turn it back upright before adding water again. Also you can plan on filling reservoirs daily. Don't waste your money on this unit. If i could return it, i would.

I've owned mine for over 2 years now. It's short, so I sit it up on an end table. I have no issues with the water leaking since I don't sit it on carpeted floors. My home is 1,034 sq feet and it gives enough moisture to fill the home after the first 8 hours. I love it. It's easy to clean and easy to fill. I know others try to put it on carpeting and then complain about it leaking. But honestly, as small as it is, why would you put it on carpet? And why, as short as it is, would you bend over to pick up the water containers? I'm happy with mine. Set it up properly and you will be happy with it as well.
I haven't had the negative experiences previously listed. If you have dexterity greater than an elephant, don't carry it around, or use it as a sawhorse, you'll be fine. It keeps our house between 45-53 percent humidity when its 20-25% outside on the low setting. You'll have to use high setting to raise the %, then run it on low to keep it there. Low setting is quiet. As you would expect, high setting is louder. No trouble with spillage. Just keep it on a hard surface or use a board to set it on. Filling the tanks with water could be easier, but its not a big deal. No trouble with quality yet but its my first season with it.
I really like this new humidifier. The size of it is perfect not like the old ones that were large and took up a lot of space. I also like the water containers, they are so easy to fill. Would recommend to anyone looking for a new humidifier
