Overall, others give this:
This was my second attempt (I returned the first one) to replace my 18-year old La Pavoni coffee grinder which worked fine but fell and broke. The replacement?s desired features: hopper for whole beans, separate receptacle for ground coffee, adjustable grind selector; adjustable cup selector, auto stop based on # cups selected, and full length power cord. Priced less than $60. ***** How the Kenmore Burr met my specs: ***** Likes: It has a hopper for whole beans, separate receptacle for ground coffee, adjustable cup selector, coffee brush, on/off switch, and full length power cord. Noise level and cleanup are a bit better than my La Pavoni. It is also a bit easier to transfer the ground coffee to the coffee pot than my old one. Unit does not take up a lot of counter space but is taller than the La Pavoni. Automatically stops when the number of cups selected is reached. Price fit my range. ***** Areas for improvement: 1. Change bean hopper ?cover? from solid black to clear and hopper front from solid metal to clear; it?s impossible to see how many beans are left unless you turn the unit sideways. You do need to know how much is left BEFORE you start grinding because: 2. If the hopper runs out of beans, it still keeps grinding. Add ?auto shut off? when the hopper is out of beans, not just when it reaches the number of cups selected. 3. Correct online product description: it does have a (full-length) power cord. 4. Change grind indicator font color from silver to black; it?s very hard to read. 5. Online product description for ?no? grind adjustment is correct. Even though there are nine grind settings, the grounds always come out pulverized. Need to fix grind mechanism to reflect all nine choices. 6. The coffee brush should not be stored in the grinding mechanism.

I once had a cheap little grinder, but it was extremely loud and dispensing the ground coffee was very awkward, you had to turn the whole unit upside down and tap the whole thing a couple of times to get all the grounds in the lid and then remove the lid which held the ground coffee.. It was messy I am very impressed with this grinder. It is very nice looking, black and stainless steel. When grinding very hard coffee beans there is bound to be a certain amount of noise and I found it minimal for it's purpose. It is extremely functional and easy to use if you read the directions. It has nine grind settings from very fine to coarse, which will determine the strength. When you set the number of cups, no matter how many beans are in the reservoir, it will only grind the amount of beans needed for the number of cups you chose and then stop! I don't have to measure or guess, so my coffee flavor is always consistant. This actually helps me make a better cup of coffee. Very important, as I have been known to make coffee that will really wake you up, but not in a good way! I love this machine and am very glad I chose it out of all that are available.

I've had this grinder for a week and a half and like it so far. Some reviewers have said it's loud. I'd say that the noise level is similar to that of my previous grinder but maybe a bit lower in pitch. Pros - Looks nice - Grinds to a consistent grind - Hopper for beans and receptacle for ground coffee both have large capacity and seem to be of a nice, quality material; and the latter (so far) does not develop a static charge that attracts grounds - The calibration in "cups" matches the size of cup I brew and the amount of coffee I customarily use per cup. In other words, it seems to make fine coffee when I set it to the number of cups I've been brewing. Cons - You can't see the level of beans in the hopper from the front of the machine. The hopper is not transparent at the front but only at the sides and rear.
First of all this grinder is great for the price. The bin does not have an anti-static coating. So coffee grinds do stick to the side of the walls of the bin. The motor does get warm after grinding 1 1/2 lbs of coffee. This grinder does create a mess, however cleanup is not a big deal. There is a brush which loosely fits into the burr assembly. You can lose this important part if you are not carefull. There is a power cord which is wrapped underneath the base. Grind settings are 1-9.
