Versatile and compact, this Kenmore bagless canister vacuum is light and easy to use. Cleaning floors, carpets and rugs is simple with its retractable cord. Plus there's no more replacing bags with this bagless canister vacuum: the transparent dust bin shows you exactly when it's time to empty the canister. Its compact size makes it easy to lift and store while its 360-degree swivel hose and cyclonic design give you all the cleaning power you'd expect from a Kenmore vacuum.
- Designed to make cleaning-up after pets a cinch, the Pet PowerMate™ attachment lifts hair, dander and more from furniture, rugs and carpeting in seconds.
- The True HEPA certified filter can be trusted to remove almost all significant allergens from air flowing through the vacuum, so you can breathe easy.
- The filterless dust cup gathers dirt in a round chamber that empties quickly and saves you the cost of replacement bags.
- Upper and lower quick releases let you easily attach and detach on-board tools at the press of a button, making transitioning between surfaces a breeze.

I bought this vacuum based on a leading consumer magazine rating and ordered it through sears.com. It was a gift and opened 3 days after the 30 day return period. To my dismay, the beater bar power head was broken and sears.com would not exchange it. Because this product came out of the box broken and Sear's unsympathetic customer service,, I cannot recommend their vacumm. '

Only used the new bagless canister vacuum once, but it performed very well once I got the hang of it. Initially, it kept turning off when I would start vacuuming on carpet, but after adjusting the connections a few times, the problem seemed to go away and I was able to vacuum the entire upstairs and downstairs with no problem. It isn't very loud, and it picked up far more dirt than either of my old vacuums. So far, as long as it doesn't start turning off again, it will be a vast improvement over my old vacuums.
Works well, but far too complicated to maintain. The dirt receptacle area fills up much too quickly and it's nowhere as simple as just pulling out a single dust cup and emptying it into a garbage can---there are many nooks and crannies inside that area that collect gobs of dust which have to be dug out manually, and the dust cup itself comes apart into several segments. Clogs are a frequent problem, again because there are so many cavities and filters within the unit for them to collect in or on. You have to read every page in the manual to understand all the complicated maintenance procedures that are necessary to keep this machine going. It's too late to exchange it---we're going to keep it as a back-up and buy another vacuum that uses bags and is, hopefully, as simple to operate and maintain use as my superb 16-year-old Kenmore whose motor finally died. R.I.P., old friend! I know I'll never see your like again!
Picks up very well and easy to handle except that the canister does not rack well when you are moving forward, sometimes requiring to go back to align it with the path.

The two days I used it, I spent 20 minutes vacuuming and over 60 minutes clearing the clogs. I had to take everything apart. My clothes were all dusty. The sink was a mess. You better be outside to empty this one! It does pull loads of dirt and dog hair out. It just tends to back up into the filter area and get all clogged up. I am returning the vacuum. I'll return to bags in a heartbeat! I'm mad at Consumer Reports for leading me to this vacuum.
I own a navigator, which is okay for a quick job, but it was very lacking in many areas. So, I decided to try this bagless canister vacuum because it had the highest rating in a consumer products magazine. I read some of the negative reviews online (oddly enough, on kenmores own website) and had second thoughts, so I cancelled the order an hour later, but for some reason the vacuum showed up at my door anyway (only a few days for shipping - surprisingly fast). I decided to keep it, and I am VERY glad I did. This vacuum does what my upright cannot do. It has motorized brushes (separate motors for vacuum base, powerhead, and small powerhead), that work REALLY well; And, also, the metal handle is great for attaching the crevice tool and getting all the places the upright won't get (which I run along the crevice where the base molding and carpet meet.), I also used it to clean the dust off my ventilation covers...which really needed it...and they look nice and clean now). Canister vacuums are more difficult to use, but there is no comparison on how well they work, and how versatile they are. I have both types, but if I only could have one, I'd definitely get the canister vacuum. Although I haven't owned it long, this vacuum has already exceeded my expectations. Some people complained online about motor failures, so I bought the 3-yr replacement protection plan. Others complained about the canister size, but its large enough. The dust is driven so fast in the canister it compresses it to one side...yet the airflow is perfectly fine...it works great! I was thinking about getting a bagged vacuum, but I am glad I didn't...bagless is the way to go! I really like the power button on the handle too, it makes it real easy to turn on/off, and it slides between 3 settings [off; bare floor (brush is off), or carpet (brush on)]. If you are having second thoughts about this because of other people's negative reviews on this particular site, do not let them discourage you...this vacuum is GREAT (the magazine is correct...it deserves the highest of ratings)! It also has a brush attachment for the wand/handle, which will allow you to clean the carpets of your car! (I haven't used it yet, but I already know it will work great...because it has good suction). Anyway, I hope this review helps some people in their decision making. All I can say is that this is a great vacuum, and you will not be disappointed. This vacuum puts the navigator to shame!

I purchased this vacuum because my last one, also a Kenmore canister, finally bit the dust. The pros are; suction is great, very powerful, headlamp on the carpet attachment - apparently not all vacuums come with this anymore, the canister is lighter than my last one, and it's quieter - but it's still a vacuum, so don't expect silence. The cons; it's bagless. This means after you've swept up all the pet hair and dust and other undesirable stuff you have to expose yourself to it. The waste does not magically fall out of the collection bin when you open it, I picked up tons of golden retriever fur which was packed in and I had to reach into the bin and pull it out. Dust flew up in the air, and the first time I stupidly emptied it directly into my waste can, then not thinking later, just tossed something into the can on top of the vacuum waste sending more dust flying. Now I empty it into a plastic store bag and tie it before tossing. Still gross that I have to handle the dirt. The attachment caddy is in a horrible spot on the wand. I'm forever bumping it and the attachments fall off. This next part is very important, this vacuum model DOES NOT COME WITH A BARE FLOOR ATTACHMENT! While the carpet attachment does a great job on (key word) carpet it totally stinks for bare floors. I have solid flooring in every room of my house with area rugs in the living room and bedrooms. I absolutely need the bare floor brush for maneuvering into corners, under furniture and gliding smoothly over the floor...there's no gliding with fixed wheels, you can go straight forward or straight backward. Also the carpet attachment can suck up light things like dog hair and dust from the solid floor but not bigger/heavier pieces like chunks of mud or cereal, you need the bare floor brush to create that suction against the surface. Why on earth Kenmore would not include this part is beyond me. I would have just used the one from my last vacuum but of course the wand had a different end and it wouldn't fit. Also, the canister tips over if you move too quickly in the opposite direction, but I can be more careful of this in the future.
