This is a great window a/c. Its a little noisy but no more than others I've heard. I like the remote and the energy star setting which adjusts the cooling and fan powers as the room cools.

I am not sure what the energy saver mode is SUPPOSED to do, but I can tell you what it DOES do: Makes it so that the unit only operates for seconds at a time and never cools the room down to the setpoint temp. The front plate screen says "72" and the remote says "81" and yet the unit isn't on? What gives? I am fairly sure that the only way Kenmore was able to have this unit's efficiency rated so well was to have it simply not work!

I bought a Kenmore wall unit two years ago. I barely used the AC and this year burned out the control unit. One week later the fan and the cooler gave up. Sears is not covering the repair. Worst productdo not buy.

Our tri-level home has air on the 2nd and 3rd floors but not in the finished walk-out basement where there is a bedroom and a full bath. Typical 20 x 12 SF. Could not find a quality in wall unit in the big box stores. Sears had this unit on sale and we purchased it. We are not big on Sears products since we have had issues with our HE Kenmore washing machine, dryer and a dishwasher. Read good things about this air-conditioner and purchased it. So far the unit keeps this bedroom very cool. We had to hire a carpenter to install. If you do not install properly, the weather will enter into the house. Keeping my fingers crossed.

We had to emergency replace an 8 yr old Kenmore unit, and we were relieved that it fit the old sleeve. Installation was simplified because of that. It has a new filter set-up, and whenever the compressor kicks on, it RATTLES...nothing we've done will stop it-bad in a bedroom! It is nice to be cool again, especially this summer! We still wish we hadn't cut through the house to install and wish we'd just used a window unit, as it is DRAFTY in winter, and costs twice as much!

I installed this unit in my twins room to replace an old unit. It fit right in the old sleeve(saved $100 on buying a new one) and was easy to install. I love that the remove has the temp sensor in it so it gives a better reading of the room. Only thing I don't like is the unit doesn't show if the built in sensor or the remote sensor is active.

This air conditioner is awesome. The weather hasn't been too hot but the day that hit 80`s it was cooling my apartment and it was very comfortable. Thanks

This unit is very quiet and works well. I have a fairly large bedroom 18x20 with an attached bath and this cools it to 65 degrees in about an hour. Kept up with the hot summer weather this year very well. I hung out in the bedroom all the time when it was extremely hot out and it was cool and comfortable. I like the room cold and this does the trick, not too bad on the electric bill either. Love the remote to turn the fan up or down at night depending on how cold i want to be. The energy saver mode doesn't keep it as cold as i like, but if you don't need your room an icebox i guess it would be fine. Once again this is a quality unit that does the job in a larger bedroom.

We installed this unit 3 years ago, but we've really only used it during the 3 hottest months of the year here in So. Calif. (July, August, September). The rest of the year, it just sits there, unplugged. So, although we've owned/had it installed for 3 years, it's only been used for about 9-10 months TOTAL! We have also been very diligent about do-it-yourself care of the unit (cleaning the filter regularly, etc.) Yet, in spite of the fact that we take good care of it and hardly ever use it, our unit has already broken down; the fan plate for the evaporator has busted after less that a year of use! I mean, seriously? That is just pathetic, really.
