chest freezer
Purchased this about 3 weeks ago. Runs VERY quietly. Don't even notice it is in the same room. We got the 7.2 cu. ft. freezer. We purchased 4 Sterilite plastic containers (approx.15 1/2" long, 11 3/4" wide, 9 1/4"deep), with little green handles that lay flat on each side of top of container from Walmart and they fit perfectly in the freezer. Stack 2 and 2. The containers also have hand holes on each end for easier lifting. The containers make the food SO much more accessible in the chest freezer. I put frozen vegs. in one, meat in one, etc. and lift out the container that I need to look in and close the freezer while I find what I want. I still have so much more room left over. Thankful for my freezer!

If Loses Power, Won't Automatically Restart
This freezer worked fine for us until we had a momentary power outage in the middle of the night. Discovered the next day that everything in the freezer (all our produce we had frozen from our garden) was thawed. Reading the fine print in the manual, I discovered that if the unit loses power, you have to turn it off and wait 3 to 5 minutes before turning it back on or it won't restart. Isn't that a great design? Be warned!!

Can't open the darn lid

Had this delived yesterday, Just the right size etc. Went to put stuff in the freezer, and couldn't get the lid up. I lifted the freezer off the ground insted of lid opening. I called the Sears help desk, and they said to put valoline on the door, it will be easier to open. Well I kept trying then got lucky it opened. Put the vasoline on the door, and food in the freezer. Guess what couldn't get the dang door open again. I read all the reviews, and tried everything everyone else had tried. Didn't open. I talked to a Sears rep via on line. I told them the problem, and that I want to have this freezer returned it isn't any good to me if I can't get into it. Some comments have praised this freezer, how the heck do you get the door to open? I shouldn't have to turn it off to open it, or unplug it like some have said, also tried to take the plug out that didn't work. I thought I was ordering a quality freezer, but not the case. Anyone found a small freezer that opens and works? thinking about a small up right, but will I have the same issue with that one?

Good Value

Good value for the money. Large enough for our family of six. Size is small enough that things don't get lost but big enough to hold plenty of frozen goods. Our unit is located in basement - seems quiet enough to locate in living space. No complaints to date. Very little frost up yet- having been owned and used for almost five months. Seems to be a very good purchase.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

only lasted 5 months

Everything was ok for 5 months except that some frost was building up at the back wall at the top on the right side. Then one day we noticed melted ice cream all over. So my husband turned it to max and put a thermometer in it (that's after cleaning up the ice cream mess). The next morning it was only 34 degrees. So called Sears and they came out and said it was some kind of sensor thing. So we are getting a new one, but wondering if we should upgrade to a different model.

7.2 cu. ft. freezer Kenmore

Was concerned that freezer would not be big enough being as I had not seen the freezer due to ordering on line . Freezer was perfect size for a small garden, and buying your meats on sale , Will post more on product as to operation at end of summer !! But so far * GREAT* I would recommend buying service protection plan ,, Just in case !! I do not doubt the product ,,, just safety precaution.. what's 6 cent a day !!!!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

freezer

Just installed it seems to be doing exactly as it should. Except in order to open the lid there has to be quite a bit of food in it, and it has to be closed for quite a while for the air to equalize to be able to open it easily. Seems to me that that fact should be stated in the owners manual. Had to actually use a tiny crowbar to open it at first????? thanks Paul

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Nice size freezer

Fit perfectly in the spot I have. Turned on and ran great from the start. Was down to 10degrees in only 5-10 minutes. A second hanging basket would be nice though.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Working like a charm

First deep freezer and I love it. There has been no over the top issues at all and I love having the additional freezer space. Frost collects at the top rear but nothing that can't be removed by hand.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
