Quiet and Magnificant at Cooling
This A/C unit beats any previous A/C i have ever had, so I went back to Sears and bought a second one for an additional room!

mold and water condensation on the controls
this is the most expensive AC unit I have ever had and the most crapy one. It has NO DEHUMIDIFICATION POWER, which means it will only cool down your room and keep all the moisture in the air. there is water condensation on the controls and mold everywhere inside the unit. even my cheapest, very loud AC unit does the job better than this OVERPRICED PIECE OF ****. I called sears repair service and they charge 75$ for somebody to come and look if it's corectly instaled - like I'm a moron who has no idea how to put AC in a window. I'm taking it back to the store tomorrow and they will charge me 15% restocking fee. ONE BIG JOKE!!!!

Overall, I lIke It.

It cools great. Nice and quiet. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars; All of the controls do not illuminate in the dark, making this A/C hard to control at night, the remote, I don't even bother using it. You'd thing Sears, with all it's years of experience, would know better then doing this to an otherwise fine product.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

So far so good!

We have had this for about 3 weeks and really like it. It is extremely quiet. Like the slim look and how it doesn't take up the entire window. Installation was easy too.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Great Unit, Very Quiet

This is my second one of these units. I am very happy with both. The first is a few years old and still working great. They are very quiet when operating, I have one in my living room and the other in the bedroom. No bother when watching TV or sleeping. 6,000 BTU is on the low end these days but I find it performs better than the larger unit it replaced. It is also slim leaving more window area available and it's an attractive unit inside. Minor complaints: 1. Its very wide with the side panels, too wide for my ~25" window opening. I had to remove the slide outs completely and fill the small gap left over. 2. The panel, though nice looking, angles the display up so it cannot be seen from bed/couch, only when standing near it. 3. Remote is hard to use in the dark. 4. The fins are very easily damaged. I have a tool to fix them which works well (22 fins per inch), but it would be nice if they had some protection. Overall I am very happy with both units and would recommend them to anyone. Its so nice to have a quiet A/C that cools well and doesn't look like a monstrosity in the window.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Just in time to beat the heat!!!

Love the low profile. It lets in more light from window, and is quiet compared to my last one.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

air conditioner

Great air conditioner. For the price I couldn't ask for more. It fits perfect in our window. It is so much more quieter than normal air conditioners half of the time we don't even know it's on. I would highly recommended this to anyone just trying to cool a bedroom.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Buy Only If You Don't Use Remote

I read some reviews here from users who didn't like the remote. But I thought: how bad can this remote be? Is it really that different from other ac remotes? The answer is YES it can be THAT bad. If you do not need to use the remote, esp not at night, then this unit is probably fine for you. If, however, you are purchasing for a bedroom, to mainly use at night, you may want to buy another unit. The remote is tiny, light weight, and easy to lose. The face of the remote is entirely black, smooth and flat, and does not light up at night or have any lcd display for temp. That means if you want to turn off/on or adjust temp or fan you have to turn on your light. And even then you won't be able to tell what temp you have set the unit at, or what speed the fan is set on, unless you get up and walk over to the ac unit. The lcd display on the unit is facing upwards. Good for keeping room dark, but bad if you'd like to see what the temp is set on. For such an expensive unit, I am amazed that the remote does not have an lcd display showing at least the temp, and at least a bump where the on/off button is so it can be used without turning on a light at night. The words on the remote are tiny (in keeping with how small the remote is), and are barely legible. With another couple of months of use, I am sure they will have rubbed off entirely. One thing I did to remote that helped -- I bought a pkg of those little plastic discs, the ones used under lamps, etc to prevent them from scratching furniture. I stuck one where the on/off control is on the remote. Now I can turn unit on/off without turning on light. Can't see to control fan or temp, but at least can turn on/off. As mentioned by another poster, the opening vents on the unit are quite large, I also duck taped netting over the opening. Otherwise you will end up with a lot of debris inside the unit. For $300, you should not have to do this stuff to make the unit and remote useable! On the plus side, the unit is pretty quiet, was easy to install (we couldn't use the brace due to our window set up, but still is fairly stable), and cools the room. Would have liked it to dehumidify a little more. But if you are using in a kitchen, den, liv rm, it should be fine. For a bedroom, I'd consider another unit.
