Job well done
I bought this unit for my finished basement. It was under construction and we had some trouble getting the drywall dry enough to mud and finish. I was going to use the bucket and dump the water when full but after 24 hours the bucket was full. I decided to go back to sears and buy the optional hose to run to a drain in the basement. It works great but the reviews about the noise is true. Very loud unit. I will just turn it off when in the basement and that should take care of that. Also heard they break quickly so I bought the warranty from Sears. Overall very pleased.

Kenmore Dehumidifier - fan
The fan (electric motore) went out on a couple of days ago. I would stay away from this unit. The funny thing: consumer reports rates this model as a good buy. Someone is out of touch as this unit is totally unreliable. The price for the motor is $60

Worked great for me.

We bought this in a hurry a few years ago to help after a nightmarish roof leak. It faithfully pulled bucket after bucket of water out of thin air (in dry Los Angeles). Still working today, four years later.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Failed to dehumidify right after warranty is up

This unit runs and everything seems fine but when i check the hose there's not a drop of moisture. I removed a cover to find that the unit has rust on the coils that look like a car's radiator. What at waste! I babied this thing so that it never had to run too long. It wouldn't be so bad if Sears would give a replacement or partial credit. If it doesn't burn, electrify, or blow-up, then i gues it's the perfect product to ignore consumers because this one just stops dehumidifying.

Kenmore 50 Pint dehumidifier

Waste of money!!! Had the unit for less than 2 years and had to send back to sears for repair for it to just quit working another year later and this time it will cost more than it is worth to repair! Buyer BEWARE!!!!

My Last Kenmore Appliance

I'm a Landlord and have purchased many Kenmore appliances over the decades because they _were_ reliable, durable, and cost-effective. In recent years, I've grown leery of Kenmore quality and durability, and it was with some hesitancy that I bought this unit in 2008. Rightly so. I purchased an extended warranty (which I usually do not do) and I had to make use of it when the humidistat controls failed after one year. Now that it's off warranty, the compressor-related buzzing and vibrations have increased to the point where we have to turn the unit off when trying to have a conversation in the kitchen where we have the unit, or the next room. I was really happy with it for the first couple of weeks as it seemed quiet and pulled a lot of moisture out of the air. But, now I really regret having given away my ugly but reliable 1970's era dehumidifier for this very expensive and quality-challenged unit.

Kenmore 50 pint Dehumidifier

Stopped working after just 3 years to the day. This is the second Kenmore dehumidifier that we have purchased in the last 8 years; prior one lasted only 5 years. Shame on us for going back. Glad to see that LG is their manufacturer, as I will not be buying an LG product as a replacement.

Worked well for 18 months then ran continuously without taking any water out of the air. Piece of junk, waste of $200. Never again...

Dissatisfied with product !

We bought this unit in August of 2008, it is less than 3 years old and doesn't work anymore. It runs, but doesn't put any water in the bucket. The same thing happened with our last Kenmore Dehumidifier. For $200, these products should last longer. Not buying a Kenmore anymore!

Kenmore dehumidifier

After having a leak in our basement I needed to get a dehumidifier. After reading reviews we still bought this one. Yes it is a little noisey but nothing that you can't get used to. It's easy to use, works well, an energy star and has variable settings.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
