So far, so good. I've only had this unit for 2 weeks now and I love it. very easy & simple to use. Doesn't have features that you'll never use. Oven seems to heat up quickly and love the warmer draw!
After reading the other 3 reviews, I have to comment and give this range (and Kenmore) a review that is worthy... First, to address what others stated: The edges are not so sharp that you could get a "deep cut" anywhere on this range. It is not made cheaply. In fact, I ran my fingers around every edge on the oven door and warming drawer with no ill effects. As far as a young child hurting themselves... what are they doing around an oven in the first place and unattended to where they could harm themselves? I have a 3 year old son... he knows not to touch the oven. Pretty simple. As far as a scratch, it's wrong to give a negative review on a product over a delivery issue. There is no "gapping out" of the window either. Could have been a rare defect? As for the other review complaining about the large burners being in the front - did you not notice that when you first looked at the range in the store or online prior to buying? And isn't that just about standard that your large burners are always in the front? Who reaches over a boiling pot? Again... an extremely unfair and pointless review. As far as how the oven heats, I have owned another convection and it warmed up by cycling through all the heating elements. It's common knowledge, and it's even stated in the manual, not to put foods in the oven before it's pre-heated. And by no means is the oven slow. It is electric... it's going to take a little while to reach temperature. As for the third review referencing having to read the manual to figure out how to use the oven in broil mode, I can only imagine that person doesn't understand that it is common practice that when you broil, you crack the door a couple of inches. Every oven I have owned has a stop that keeps the door cracked at about 5 inches. Again, this is common practice. Now for the positives and my actual review: This range has it all! The burners get very hot, quickly. This is the closet electric range I have used that rivals cooking with gas (there is still no comparison to cooking with gas, but this one is pretty close). The 3 ring front right burner is awesome! And the quick boil front left burner got a very large pot (the one I use for pasta) at a roaring boil, uncovered, in about 4 minutes. My previous range took over 10. The controls are very easy to use, the oven heats up quick and cooks very evenly, the convection is outstanding, and the entire unit is absolutely beautiful in my kitchen. There's a reason Kenmore has been around for so long - you cannot go wrong. I would absolutely recommend buying this, and for the price (saved $500 when I bought it) it's an absolute steal. This range had everything I was looking for and does it's job expertly. Do not be phased by the previous reviews that IMO were quite unfair and beyond pointless.
I love the warming center. But it is nonsense to put the TWO biggest burners in the front. When stirring smaller pans and boiling large pots (for example, boiling noodles with simmering the sauce) you must reach over the boiling pot to stir the back smaller pans-such an aggravation and my arm gets hot! Secondly, the oven preheats very VERY slowly. It alternates the top element then the bottom element. You absolutely cannot put your food in the oven before it reaches the ****** temperature for it will scorch the top, or the bottom in the slow, oh so slow, preheating phase!
Nice look to it, good features. Confusion when first using broiler and oven forces reading the instruction manual. Burners heat very quickly. An OK product.
We were very disappointed when this range was delivered,we noticed it had two deep scratch's on the bottom drawer, plus the edges of the drawer were extremely SHARP! This is a real hazzard especially if you have small children, they could easily cut off their fingers.The outside edges of the oven are also VERY sharp! Plus the stainless bottom edge on the window was gapping out a bit, again very sharp and a place food and liquids could run down, just made so cheaply!. Sears did exchange the oven with a new one but shortly after that one was delivered I cut my middle finger quite deep on the bottom drawer even after being very careful putting the pans in. The bottom drawer is made so cheaply, doesn't slide nice and to cut corners the edges are not covered or bent so they are very sharp.We have decided to return this range and get a KitchenAide-KERS202BSS which is only a couple hundred more, which is much more solid and has great reviews. I guess you get what you pay for! I plan on writing a letter to Kenmore because we believe this product should be removed from the market as it is UNSAFE! Please do not buy this oven, you will be very disappointed and we don't want this to happen to anyone else!
