Freezer does a awsome job keeping all my foods frozen and that's with the temp on med. It's small but it holds a lot of food and with food going up in price it just makes sense.
Let's be clear, all the positive reviews for this item are from those who just bought it. I felt the same way when we first purchased this freezer. From a design stand point it is really nice, it has wheels, it has a usable interior shelf because a railing is provided and it has the basket which hangs from the top allowing for extra storage. Unfortunately, mine too failed after about three years. This model is made by Midea for Kenmore. This company makes products such as dehumidifiers under different names. Although the design of Midea products always seems pretty good, the quality is suspect. After mine failed I started looking on-line for comments on how to fix. Many reviewers replaced several of the internal components with a Supco 3 and 1 RCO410 hard start kit. I'm fairly good with tools and electrical since I like do-it-yourself projects. However, I'm am not an appliance repair person or an electrician. My point is that most people could install this kit. I gave it a try and now almost a year later our freezer is buzzing along working like it did in the beginning. I don't know how long it will keep going before something else goes bad, it could be months or years. However, the Supco kit was around $12.00 so the additional time I'm getting out of my freezer helps lessen my disappointment about it breaking down in the first place.
This is just the right size for any home. We used to have two refrigerators to store meats but since getting this freezer, I can't believe I lived without one for so long. A must have in every home.
I had this product for 2 and one-half years before it died taking $400 worth of meat with it. I expect any product bearing the Kenmore name to have the reliability and dependability I grew up knowing. This is the first time in my 50+ years of buying Kenmore branded products that such a brand failed to live up to its name. Its not just me, so many others have experienced this disaster of a purchase. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Kenmore-Parts/All-Products-Parts/Repair-Maintenance/Questions-Answers/I-have-a-Kenmore-Chest-Freezer-Model-195/Model-25519502010/0582/0141000/319951?modelNumber=25519502010 On top of it all, this unit was falsely advertised as being an energy efficient machine and IT IS NOT. This is the worst purchase ever and yet it CONTINUES TO BE SOLD BY SEARS. STAY AWAY from this product. Reconsider what it is you want to purchase but see how the sales rep backs up the product and NOT by offering a 3 year warranty package for $100 more. You read this... now you have been advised.... a fool and a money is soon parted... I only wish I had taken a moment to review my intended purchase beforehand.... I wouldn't be sitting here writing the review. I could actually be enjoying some the meat that I once had ! :( :(

The size is perfect. I just needed some additional freezer space and didn't want to take up too much floor space so this is just what I was looking for and not too expensive.

I just moved into a townhouse and its just me and my best friend. This deep freezer has more than enough space for the both of us. Also the deep freezer does not use a lot of electricity and keeps my food beyond cold. I highly recommend.
I had a warranty for 3 years. It lasted 3 years and one month. I didn't get any money from the energy star. I must state, that, I didn't defrost it enough though. The light would not come on when failed. Started having trouble keeping 0 about 1 month before it failed. I worry about the 5 cu foot that has 7 positives.
Had it about 2 years. Compressor went out. Same as everyone else. Was not covered by warranty. Would cost $75 to have a technician look at it. Lost all of the food in it. Took it to the dump. Will never buy another one from Sears.
As stated in multiple other reviews, the 5.1 cu. ft. Chest Freezer quit after a couple of years use and we just finished throwing out an expensive amount of ruined meat--some of it choice grass-fed beef. Absolutely avoid this product. We will never again purchase a Kenmore chest freezer and will be passing on the warning to all of our friends.
