nice but low temps
We just purchased our new Sears waster heater and the installation was pretty straight forward. The only complaint I have is the temp of the water doesn't seem to be all that hot. I can keep my hand under the water without discomfort. It is hot but no where near as hot as the previous water heater. I can find nothing on the output temps so I am curious if this is rated as an energy saving water heater by turning the temp down.

Four of these within nine years!!
Model #193.329462 We've lived in this home for nine years and have had to replace this HWH for the fourth time. The last HWH was replaced on 12-2-2011. Yesterday I found another small lake of rusty water in my garage! I replaced this one with another brand (NOT from Sears). It should be noted that Sears did warranty the previous HWH's, but not without major hassles. Days of waiting, sending a tech out to look at the leak just to say, "yep". Who can go days without hot water? Seriously!! The last time we replaced it I had to drive 200 miles to the only store in "our area" that had one. Otherwise we would have had to wait several more days. Soooo...Terrible quality HWH's, poor service from Sears, repeated water damage to my home, time and aggravation replacing the units....how would YOU rate this HWH and Sears? Never again, I promise. Since I have to drive out of town to shop at a Sears (unless I want to visit a catalog store), I'll just go to ***** or ********** for now on. Even my local ************ treats me a whole lot better!!

Leaky, poorly made, should be taken off the market by Sears

I have a Kenmore Power Miser 9. Model # 153.32946, if you are looking for a hot water heater, run quickly in the opposite direction if anyone tries to sell you one of these. Sears, shame on you for keeping it in stock. It leaks and will not give hot water. I am very disappointed and will NEVER purchase another water heater from Sears and will not recommend them to friends or enemies.

Beware Your warranty may be useless

I have a Kenmore Power Miser 9. Model # 153.32946 Serial # G04136386. I purchased the original unit in Nov. of 2003. I replaced it due to leaking in Jan 2005. In 2005, Sears was superb in honoring the warranty. Today the unit I have started leaking. I called the retail store I have frequented first and was told I need to call the "water hot line" 1-800-469-4663. I did and got another number to call. I then called the service # 1-800-251-5630. I was told that it will cost me $75 to have someone come out to tell me it is leaking. (MMMM I think I know that due to the water all over the floor) Then they tell me the technician can only come 9 days from now. You tell me if this is an honorable practise of servicing a warranty. I told the individual on the phone that this was unacceptable. I asked to speak with his manager. After several minutes of waiting he came back on and said he tried to get the service tech to do an emergency call. Since the tech had gone home already, I need to call tomorrow and see what can be done. Stay tuned for an update! Until then don't bet on your warranty being worth anything.

Excellent Water heater choice

This is my 3rd Sears water heater over the last 26 years. This time I cut down the size from 60 to forty gallons. Sears is an excellent company to deal with even when it comes to warranty issues!! I highlt recommend Sears Water heaters. Even with a smaller 40 gallon tank we never run out of hot water.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

leaks

I have well water with a water purifier and the tank is leaking after 6 yrs after the first one was replaced due to the same reason, two tanks leaking after 6 years. Maybe they should call it power miser 6. They did replace the first one and only charged me for the labor which was as much as the heater being I can put it in myself I didn't save any money just my time.
