We figured we would save a few buck and get the floor/scratch n dent model. I would be weary but you can get one heck of a deal though. Don't use our experience as the norm for this product. The first unit installed easy and fairly fast. Fill then fired the unit up and withing a few moments the tank started to leak (factory defect on a weld). We had to drain ane remove the unit. Called Sears and after a few calls they took it back under warranties full replacement. The unit was not even a minute in use. After all was said and done Sears was a good choice and was easy to work with. Now for how this unit will funtion as it should and last the lifetime is a wait and see. First day of use has yet to start. Should be a good value but only time will tell. Will write a better review as time goes on.
This water heater is a very good value for the price and installation presented no problems for myself and a helper, although if you don't know how to do this, or are not willing to give it a go, Sears has excellent technicians that will glady do this for you. So far, so good. The water supply is ample and at a very good temperature. If you're looking for a solid deal...a good water heater that's both dependable and efficient. I highly recommend this model.
Went in as exact replacement for a 16 year old water heater. Fit exactly and was surprised that it lit on the first try. Took about 20 minutes for all the air to get out of the line and then beautiful blue flame. Wish all of the Sears water heaters were energy star as this one is not. It quickly comes on when you draw hot water to keep it up to temp.

I purchased this Water Heater and exactly 3 years later it was leaking. Called the warranty hotline and i had to pay $89 for trip fee and the labor charges. They replaced the gas valve and it cost me $186 for a minor repair under warranty. Keep in mind the water heater only cost about $400 new. The warranty is total ****. I won't be buying from Sears again for water heater

Bought this a month ago. Was very easy to install, it was my first time installing one. Took a couple of tries to start it then then it fired up pretty quick and heated the tank with a few hours. You don't have to turn it all the way up, the Hot level is very hot. I can't imagine how hot the Very Hot setting is.So far so good. I gave it 4 stars due to the price. It's quite expensive.
