Product Description

No one in its class performs better* and no one in its class cleans better.**

The Kenmore® 28102 washer is now bigger.*** It also features the high-performing Triple Action® impeller to provide a deep clean, 3-part wash motion while using less water. This triple action system includes a wash basket motion, an impeller action and a burst of concentrated detergent pumped through the wash plate.

The white Kenmore 2810 washing machine uses 63% less water and 73% less energy for over $175 per year in total savings.† It also makes it easier than ever to get whiter whites, thanks to the Timed Oxi™ dispenser. Just press a button, and your oxi additives are released into the wash at the right time to help boost cleaning power. Set-in stains are no match for the Soak cycle that helps eliminate tough stains from clothing. The PreWash option also lets you customize your wash to clean organic stains like berries, wine or extra-dirty loads.

  • Combining wash basket motion, impeller rotation and a burst of concentrated detergent, the Triple Action® impeller deep cleans fabrics while using less water.
  • Stainboost™ extends wash time for a deeper soak, better cleaning penetration and more powerful stain removal while remaining gentle on fabrics.
  • The timed Oxi-Option™ is designed to automatically add powdered oxygen cleaners at just the right moment in your washer’s cycle for deeper cleaning and brighter whites.
  • Designed to effectively clean up to 20 towels at once, this 4.5 cu. ft. capacity washer gets more clean in fewer loads.
  • Rapid basin rotation uses centrifugal force to remove excess moisture from fabrics quickly, reduce dry times and ease transfer from washer to dryer.

New Replacement
I recently replaced (3 weeks ago) an 8 year old Kenmore Elite set with this newer Kenmore set. I was skeptical about getting the new Kenmore Elite units as they are not made by Whirlpool as this Kenmore Washer is. We are very familiar with the HE machines and how to properly load the machines so as not to make the machine off balance. A lot of the reviews written about HE sets are from users who are moving from agitator machines to the newer technology. This machine washes well, clothes come as clean as our previous set. You have to remember to select the fabric softener option or the product will spill into the wash basket and leave residue at the end of the cycle. Our previous machine always assumed any product was used and would run water through all the dispensers. (Whirlpool should go back to this). There are plenty enough cycle choices to suit anyone?s needs. The machine is super quiet and only makes noises that a direct drive machine would be expected to (no belt). The only noticeable difference we see is that the machine is hard on towels for some reason. It will unravel the fabric on older wash clothes & towels. So to combat this we run a gentle cycle and reduce the wash time and run a low spin. As a comparison our older Calypso washer which was an absolute joy for us, was much gentler on our clothes and in my opinion the Calypso wash motion was better technology. I recommend getting a protection plan through whomever, I am sure you will need it at some point in time. The machine uses what appears to be a small amount of water, but in fact, recycles the water that an agitator machine would simply keep in the tub as it washes, so the clothes are in fact thoroughly wet and drenched in water. Overall this is a good machine, and I would recommend it! However read the manual and do exactly as it says and the machine will do its job.

Possibly bad design-"Ld" error code common search on Kenmore support site
With my brand new machine, most loads of laundry "crash" -- i.e., the washer won't drain. It stops, displays "Ld," beeps incessantly, and locks all the controls. The installation was okay, I didn't have too much soap, and nothing is jammed, so Sears technical support suggested a reboot: unplug, wait a full 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Yes, that stops the beeping and un-freezes the controls. But it doesn't always get the washer going again. I restart the cycle at "rinse and spin", the machine is quiet for a while, then "Ld" and beeping restarts. Almost every time, I have had to remove all the laundry, let the washer rinse & spin empty, then wring out the laundry by hand, return it to the washer and run rinse & spin. Needless to say I'll be calling Sears again tomorrow. Perhaps I just received a lemon, but I thought I'd get the review out in time for the Black Friday week sales. If the electronics are this sensitive, I think I'd rather have an old fashioned mechanical washer and do difficult things like turning the dial to pick temperature and water level. Also, this could possibly be a common problem: If you search the Kenmore technical support site (, you will see lots of queries about Kenmore washers with similar "Ld" code problems. Oh, and I just managed to finish my first load of whites, and several of them have a greyish hue. Don't know if it's the washer or the detergent. Another mom at school recently mentioned getting greyish whites with a particular washer (don't know the model), so I thought I'd mention it as a possible problem. This review is of the Kenmore top-loading high efficiency low-water washer, model 110.2810, w/n W10550314A, newly released in stores (I think) in November 2013.

Fresh and clean clothes!!!

This washer does everything it promises. After reading some negative reviews, the hubby and I started a load of wash and decided to sit there and watch it the whole cycle. I am not sure if some negative reviewers got a defective washer, but mine does the job AND does it well. The soap gets mixed effectively by multiple blasts of water that rinses the detergent shoot. It then sprays the wash while it slowly spins the clothes to ensure an even spread. The impeller does an excellent job of agitating the clothing and you can see your clothes being fully saturated and moved about. The rinse cycle/s evenly distribute water and I have no issue with soap being left behind on the laundry. I use fabric softener as well, and it also is evenly distributed and I have no residue on the cleaned wash. As far as the spin cycle, this baby will spin your clothes practically dry if you set the spin setting to high! Talk about a time saver for your dryer. I can't say anything negative about this washer. I use it frequently and do loads ranging from small to packed full, lightly soiled to super dirty work clothes. My family's clothes are clean and smell fresh.

Pretty good so far!

Our old dryer went out - and we were never quite happy with our old washer. To make a long story short - we investigated all of the washers and dryers available locally. We decided on the 28102 and the accompanying dryer (68102). I read the reviews and decided to give them a try. I am quite impressed. We always had to head to the laundromat to wash our sleeping bags. The washer (and the dryer) handle a standard size sleeping bag like a champ. They take care of a set of king size sheets in a single load. They do a decent job on a load of jeans and such. It takes a bit getting used to the lower water levels and the different noises. You think - how can it get the laundry clean without using more water? There were some bloodstains on the sheets from me scratching some chigger bites - they are all gone. There were some grease and dirt stains on one or two pairs of jeans - they are all gone. I am favorably impressed.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I love this washer.

This is my second high efficiency washing machine. The first was in our last apartment and it was a huge learning curve. I didn't like it for several reasons but mostly for the the fact that the other one would grow mold easily on the rubber ring of the front loader so I specifically sought a top loader. This machine is much better. It's pretty quiet and I have yet to have a trouble with the load being off balance as others have commented. I live in a 100 year old house and the only problem I've had is that the water sometimes doesn't get hot enough which is not due to the machine but rather to the state of our water lines. We have a baby and wash cloth diapers every other day and this machine gets them really clean. I like the multiple options for water temperature, soil level, rinse, etc. I even was able to wash my king size comforter in this machine and it came out great.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Super Wrinkly Clothes

After careful review of many different washing machines on the market, we decided on this one based on consumer reports (instead of a front loader which we read often smells moldy after a few months.) Well, big mistake. This machine does not clean our clothes very well or rinse them efficiently either. Sometimes portions of the clothes are still dry after a full hour cycle! Very odd! We read the manual and did exactly what they recommended. The washing times are too long and the clothes come out so wrinkled that even after drying they are a still wrinkly. (Especially my "permanent press" uniforms.) Who wants to iron anymore than we have to? This machine is getting returned and Sears was very accommodating about taking it back after 2 months. I probably will choose another Kenmore, but this time a front loader.

I hate this washer

We've owned this washer two weeks, and it's the worst purchase we ever made. I'm totally familiar with the HE machines and their specific detergents, having owned a front loader for 13 years. This new machine does not get the clothes clean, unless the load is small. Wash times are too lengthy. I absolutely hate this washer and wish I could return it, and go back to the whirlpool Duet I had before. Calling the number in the user manual is no help; you get scripted dialog that they won't deviate from.

Complicated - Maybe not the best overall value

This washes well, saves water & energy. However, the cycle times are a lot longer than older washers. If you interrupt a cycle, the machine can add another 10 minutes or more back on when you restart. If I use all features, some cycles are over 99 minutes long!! Also, probably not the best overall value - I estimate a very high cost of ownership. For what you save in Water & Energy, when this baby needs service, I am sure that it will cost you much more than you saved, and based on how it goes thru many unnecessary gyrations, I am sure that it is going to need service several times during it's life. I have watched a number of cycles. Quick starts & stops and reversals of the drum are unnecessary but done all of the time... Short starts & stops of the pump are also done - this just wears the machine out faster. This washer performs a lot of unnecessary acrobatics, for what reason....I am unsure.

Big and works well

Got a great deal on this from their outlet store. Machine is MUCH quieter and uses much less water then our old school 2000 large Whirlpool. So far everything comes out clean and fresh, it holds a lot more clothes, and we haven't loaded it to the point it gives a overload error or anything yet. It takes quite a bit longer to wash in most cycles then the old machine, balances nicely, and makes up for the extra time by washing much more per load. Do be prepared to follow the manual directions as it does it's job a lot differently then the old machines do so you have to load differently and use the right soap. It does tend to buzz and clunk from time to time but overall is so quiet you might not know it's running till it goes into spin or fills. Very happy with it so far and hope it gives the type of service the old school machines that Kenmore and Whirlpool used to make.

Unplugged it, made sure that the outlet was working, re-read the manual, plugged it in...The washer will not turn on. Broke in less than 12 hours after install...LEMON!

Uses much less water & quiet!

I replaced my old Kenmore with this product. So far I have been pleased. I chose this model for its cost effectiveness while still offering the cycles and options desired. It took a few loads to get used to it after being accustomed to the older models with agitator, but so far I have been pleased. I have not been able to tell a huge difference in cleanliness of the clothing and have had to re-run a few loads that held detergent after completing the full cycle. The major brands and baby detergents produce HE detergents which is all this machine runs, but I do like the way that it leaves the clothes damp after it's spin cycle and is much more gentle on clothing than the older washers. Only cons would be the inability to gets the whites truly white as older models and the soap not completely rinsing despite setting for a double rinse at times. Over all it is a good has quirks just as other models and older ones. Works well with the complimenting dryer. Cuts laundry time in half!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Time consuming my main complaint not impressed with He washer, drum is HUGE

It takes way longer then my agitator washer that we had for 10 years prior to this one. A load on the "normal" setting takes over 63 minutes. I believe the heavy duty cycle takes 75 minutes. The heavier the load cycle you choose, the longer the time. Also, adding fabric softener or bleach/oxi clean makes the cycle even longer. However, since the drum is very generous, I can get more clothes inside, and because the spin cycle is super powerful, it spins better than my old one. So I can get more clothes in the dryer and because of the spin cycle being so powerful, the dryer keeps up, so I don't have to dry the clothes longer then before. We've had this for a month, and so far, only 2 things I've had to rewash because they were still stained. (It's safe to say it wouldn't have happened with my old washer, and I use SHOUT as a pre treater). This washer has sensors, which sense the load size for you (no way to choose your load size manually). Only problem is, the water does not come up over top of the clothes. (HE washers do this). I don't like that. And everything is digital. Just something else to make it break sooner (we shall see). I will say that it is a lot quieter than my old one. If I had to choose, and could have found one with the size I wanted, I would have gotten a plain old agitator style one. But so far, so good with this one I guess.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
