Product Description

No one in its class performs better* and no one in its class cleans better.**

The Kenmore® 28102 washer is now bigger.*** It also features the high-performing Triple Action® impeller to provide a deep clean, 3-part wash motion while using less water. This triple action system includes a wash basket motion, an impeller action and a burst of concentrated detergent pumped through the wash plate.

The white Kenmore 2810 washing machine uses 63% less water and 73% less energy for over $175 per year in total savings.† It also makes it easier than ever to get whiter whites, thanks to the Timed Oxi™ dispenser. Just press a button, and your oxi additives are released into the wash at the right time to help boost cleaning power. Set-in stains are no match for the Soak cycle that helps eliminate tough stains from clothing. The PreWash option also lets you customize your wash to clean organic stains like berries, wine or extra-dirty loads.

  • Combining wash basket motion, impeller rotation and a burst of concentrated detergent, the Triple Action® impeller deep cleans fabrics while using less water.
  • Stainboost™ extends wash time for a deeper soak, better cleaning penetration and more powerful stain removal while remaining gentle on fabrics.
  • The timed Oxi-Option™ is designed to automatically add powdered oxygen cleaners at just the right moment in your washer’s cycle for deeper cleaning and brighter whites.
  • Designed to effectively clean up to 20 towels at once, this 4.5 cu. ft. capacity washer gets more clean in fewer loads.
  • Rapid basin rotation uses centrifugal force to remove excess moisture from fabrics quickly, reduce dry times and ease transfer from washer to dryer.

New Replacement
I recently replaced (3 weeks ago) an 8 year old Kenmore Elite set with this newer Kenmore set. I was skeptical about getting the new Kenmore Elite units as they are not made by Whirlpool as this Kenmore Washer is. We are very familiar with the HE machines and how to properly load the machines so as not to make the machine off balance. A lot of the reviews written about HE sets are from users who are moving from agitator machines to the newer technology. This machine washes well, clothes come as clean as our previous set. You have to remember to select the fabric softener option or the product will spill into the wash basket and leave residue at the end of the cycle. Our previous machine always assumed any product was used and would run water through all the dispensers. (Whirlpool should go back to this). There are plenty enough cycle choices to suit anyone?s needs. The machine is super quiet and only makes noises that a direct drive machine would be expected to (no belt). The only noticeable difference we see is that the machine is hard on towels for some reason. It will unravel the fabric on older wash clothes & towels. So to combat this we run a gentle cycle and reduce the wash time and run a low spin. As a comparison our older Calypso washer which was an absolute joy for us, was much gentler on our clothes and in my opinion the Calypso wash motion was better technology. I recommend getting a protection plan through whomever, I am sure you will need it at some point in time. The machine uses what appears to be a small amount of water, but in fact, recycles the water that an agitator machine would simply keep in the tub as it washes, so the clothes are in fact thoroughly wet and drenched in water. Overall this is a good machine, and I would recommend it! However read the manual and do exactly as it says and the machine will do its job.

Possibly bad design-"Ld" error code common search on Kenmore support site
With my brand new machine, most loads of laundry "crash" -- i.e., the washer won't drain. It stops, displays "Ld," beeps incessantly, and locks all the controls. The installation was okay, I didn't have too much soap, and nothing is jammed, so Sears technical support suggested a reboot: unplug, wait a full 30 seconds, and plug it back in. Yes, that stops the beeping and un-freezes the controls. But it doesn't always get the washer going again. I restart the cycle at "rinse and spin", the machine is quiet for a while, then "Ld" and beeping restarts. Almost every time, I have had to remove all the laundry, let the washer rinse & spin empty, then wring out the laundry by hand, return it to the washer and run rinse & spin. Needless to say I'll be calling Sears again tomorrow. Perhaps I just received a lemon, but I thought I'd get the review out in time for the Black Friday week sales. If the electronics are this sensitive, I think I'd rather have an old fashioned mechanical washer and do difficult things like turning the dial to pick temperature and water level. Also, this could possibly be a common problem: If you search the Kenmore technical support site (managemylife.com), you will see lots of queries about Kenmore washers with similar "Ld" code problems. Oh, and I just managed to finish my first load of whites, and several of them have a greyish hue. Don't know if it's the washer or the detergent. Another mom at school recently mentioned getting greyish whites with a particular washer (don't know the model), so I thought I'd mention it as a possible problem. This review is of the Kenmore top-loading high efficiency low-water washer, model 110.2810, w/n W10550314A, newly released in stores (I think) in November 2013.

Best Mix of Maytag's Bravo XL 880BW 725BW

My old washer died about 10 days before Fourth of July, and I choose a new washer based off performance and country origin (USA). So Maytag Bravo XL 880BW @ 4.8 was my choice. It was on a huge deal 50% off at sears for like 48hrs but the availability/delivery time was 6-8 weeks. The Maytag 725BW @ 4.5 was also going to take at least a week. (Sears should stock more items in store. I actually left the store and came back the next day b/c they didn't have squat in stock. I had my truck and needed something that weekend) Since at this point my mind was made up on cost, it was hard to pay twice as much someplace else. So, I got the only thing in stock that was similar to what I originally wanted. And that was this Kenmore also made by Maytag. (It cost more BTW than the awesome deal on the 880BW) So this Kenmore has most of the features of the Bravo XL 880BW (wash cycles have different names) but at the reduced size of the 725BW. The only negative thing about the Kenmore vs the Maytag version is the motor parts warranty (1 year vs 10 years). Its the same motor so hopefully it wont break. Comparing my 10 year old basic Whirlpool and this, I say it cleans most things just as well with far less water. Its super quiet; i don't notice it with the laundry door closed. The interior washer size is 50x to 100x larger than my old basic top loader. With no agitator I feel better about washing comforters and sheets. I highly recommend using OxiClean over bleach for whites. Issues #1: You can't silence the finished beeper signal. I wash close at night and put them in the dryer in the morning, I don't want to hear that noise 90 min later, it would have been really easy to have this option. Issues #2: Towels are tough. We use our towels probably for 5-7 days until they smell. I have to check every option and wash on Heavy Duty to be happy with the results. I'm thinking about washing a 2nd time as a standard for towels but I'm on the fence with that one. We may just change towels every 3-4 days. :) Would I it buy again at the same sale price I paid: Yes, (full price I would buy Maytag) after about 2 months of ownership its a good washer. My biggest issue now is not washing so much that my older smaller dryer can't handle it. Aside note: if you are looking for a matching pair the Kenmore matching dryer has all the features and size of the top of the line Maytag. The 2nd level Maytag is missing the sanitize option... I might buy the dryer next year as my old one still works just fine.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

I'm returning this machine

I bought this machine about two months ago and hate it. I'm trading it in this weekend. Yes, it has a nice large drum, but that's about the only benefit. The water never covers the clothes completely, so often when the clothes come out of the washer they still feel dry. I can't be sure if they were ever wet. There is no way to manually control the water level. In addition, the clothes just don't get as clean as the old washer I had. Even though I bought the detergent that was specified for the machine, there is often residue left on the clothes. That means that I have to rerinse everything, and even then some of the residue may not come out. The wash cycle times are much longer, so what use to take 45 minutes, now takes at least 60 to 75 minutes. So much for energy efficiency.

Not a fan!

I needed a new washer. I debated between another front loader or a top loader. I finally settled on this top-loading washer. I like the fact that the door doesn't leak, like my front loading Kenmore did, but the clothes do not come out clean. I've had this washer for about a month now, and I can tell you that compared to my old front-loading Kenmore, I need to use more soap, and do double-rinses. The dirt does not wah off the clothes unless I use significantly more soap than the old washer. I used to wash everything on cold with no problem. With this washer, sometimes I have to go to warm to get all the dirt off. We aren't even that tough on our clothes. Light dirt doesn't come out. The fabric softener leaves marks too, and I use VERY little. That is why I have moved to an extra rinse cycle. Disappointed. Now I am stuck with this washer for the next few years. Should have stuck with the front loader. :(

Very Efficient and Quiet

this washer was purchased as a pair with the dryer and we are very pleased with the water saving it has given. It repllaced a 20 yr old Maytag, and the fact that I got both items for less thatn anyone else around. Satisfied so far, hopefully the love will continue.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Awesome Deal for a good washer

Purchased this online for $439 /Free delivery. Just got it today. First load was pretty big as our old machine died last week, Colored clothes came out great. Surefire test was my sons filthy baseball uniform with dirt and grass stains (pre treated the grass stains) with white pants, it came out spotless. Clothes come out much dryer than my old Maytag, Drying time was cut in half in my old dryer. As far as taking longer to wash. Maybe a little. Maybe an extra 10-15 minutes. I don't know about you, but I don't sit in front of my washer and wait for my laundry. I have a million other things to do with the extra time. Have done 3 loads today so far. Every one came out fine. Looks like I made a great purchase.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Don't believe the negative reviews

This is our first High Efficiency Washer--and I did all the Consumer Reports looking, etc. Plain and simple: We could not be HAPPIER with this machine. We don't even use any fancy HE detergents either--just plain old Tide. And we have no issues with "oversudsing." All you have to do is put the clothes around--meaning, "don't cover" the middle agitator bit--no big deal. I dump my stuff in, pre-treated if it warrants-and I mean, my stuff, my husband's stuff, and my six year old's stuff---make sure that middle isn't covered, and proceed to push the various buttons. I can handle everything! I usually use the express setting, as our stuff just really isn't that dirty. But normal is also quick. With 6 cats, we have to launder quilts/duvets a lot (lots of "marking") No problem--and I've not had it "wander" across my laundry room floor or do that "ka-chunk-ka-chunk" RUN and redistribute the wash insanity! No more!!! Hooray! As we have 6, count 'em, SIX cats--I use a double rinse option. If there is still hair on items, the dryer takes that off. Our laundry is in the basement, but I'm still stymied about the "noise" issues I read in the other reviews. LOL It sort of sounds like there's some old laundress in the basement, hemming and hawing, yes-I'm serious---but it's kind of charming, not eerie. :-) And I also agree with the shorter time in the dryer, or air drying. Items are really squeezed out. And I'm all about air drying expensive cotton items---chinos, polos and button-down shirts. So, all in all, I'd say this is a wonderful washer, which I'm happy to recommend!!! And as my husband is a do-it-yourselfer (at least his $$ work clothes) he's very happy with it too!!! Would I buy again? YES!!!

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Trouble , don't buy it

Although I did not have trouble originally. This year The machine has had three service calls. The first tech told me I was using to much soap. I knew that wasn't true as I wash my laundry and then rewash to remove any residue. The machine continued to make the horrible noises after he "fixed it" two weeks later the circuit board started acting up. Same tech came back, said he ordered parts never showed back up again. In the meantime I noticed that the entire top of the machine is rusting. Then the machine started leaking water out the bottom of machine. Tech just left. The bearing went, and that was wrong from the beginning. I asked about the rust. he said they do that and it is not covered by warranty. Although this tech was very nice, I am really angry with the poor quality of such an expensive machine. This was a very expensive machine when I bought it and I purchased the extended warranty

Fresh and clean clothes!!!

This washer does everything it promises. After reading some negative reviews, the hubby and I started a load of wash and decided to sit there and watch it the whole cycle. I am not sure if some negative reviewers got a defective washer, but mine does the job AND does it well. The soap gets mixed effectively by multiple blasts of water that rinses the detergent shoot. It then sprays the wash while it slowly spins the clothes to ensure an even spread. The impeller does an excellent job of agitating the clothing and you can see your clothes being fully saturated and moved about. The rinse cycle/s evenly distribute water and I have no issue with soap being left behind on the laundry. I use fabric softener as well, and it also is evenly distributed and I have no residue on the cleaned wash. As far as the spin cycle, this baby will spin your clothes practically dry if you set the spin setting to high! Talk about a time saver for your dryer. I can't say anything negative about this washer. I use it frequently and do loads ranging from small to packed full, lightly soiled to super dirty work clothes. My family's clothes are clean and smell fresh.

Pretty good so far!

Our old dryer went out - and we were never quite happy with our old washer. To make a long story short - we investigated all of the washers and dryers available locally. We decided on the 28102 and the accompanying dryer (68102). I read the reviews and decided to give them a try. I am quite impressed. We always had to head to the laundromat to wash our sleeping bags. The washer (and the dryer) handle a standard size sleeping bag like a champ. They take care of a set of king size sheets in a single load. They do a decent job on a load of jeans and such. It takes a bit getting used to the lower water levels and the different noises. You think - how can it get the laundry clean without using more water? There were some bloodstains on the sheets from me scratching some chigger bites - they are all gone. There were some grease and dirt stains on one or two pairs of jeans - they are all gone. I am favorably impressed.

I would recommend this product to a friend.
