No one in its class performs better* and no one in its class cleans better.**
The Kenmore® 28102 washer is now bigger.*** It also features the high-performing Triple Action® impeller to provide a deep clean, 3-part wash motion while using less water. This triple action system includes a wash basket motion, an impeller action and a burst of concentrated detergent pumped through the wash plate.
The white Kenmore 2810 washing machine uses 63% less water and 73% less energy for over $175 per year in total savings.† It also makes it easier than ever to get whiter whites, thanks to the Timed Oxi™ dispenser. Just press a button, and your oxi additives are released into the wash at the right time to help boost cleaning power. Set-in stains are no match for the Soak cycle that helps eliminate tough stains from clothing. The PreWash option also lets you customize your wash to clean organic stains like berries, wine or extra-dirty loads.
- Combining wash basket motion, impeller rotation and a burst of concentrated detergent, the Triple Action® impeller deep cleans fabrics while using less water.
- Stainboost™ extends wash time for a deeper soak, better cleaning penetration and more powerful stain removal while remaining gentle on fabrics.
- The timed Oxi-Option™ is designed to automatically add powdered oxygen cleaners at just the right moment in your washer’s cycle for deeper cleaning and brighter whites.
- Designed to effectively clean up to 20 towels at once, this 4.5 cu. ft. capacity washer gets more clean in fewer loads.
- Rapid basin rotation uses centrifugal force to remove excess moisture from fabrics quickly, reduce dry times and ease transfer from washer to dryer.
**Among leading brand top load high efficiency washers with washplates greater than 4.0 cu. ft. and less than 4.7 cu. ft. as measured by DOE standards, based on an 8 lb load.

It takes way longer then my agitator washer that we had for 10 years prior to this one. A load on the "normal" setting takes over 63 minutes. I believe the heavy duty cycle takes 75 minutes. The heavier the load cycle you choose, the longer the time. Also, adding fabric softener or bleach/oxi clean makes the cycle even longer. However, since the drum is very generous, I can get more clothes inside, and because the spin cycle is super powerful, it spins better than my old one. So I can get more clothes in the dryer and because of the spin cycle being so powerful, the dryer keeps up, so I don't have to dry the clothes longer then before. We've had this for a month, and so far, only 2 things I've had to rewash because they were still stained. (It's safe to say it wouldn't have happened with my old washer, and I use SHOUT as a pre treater). This washer has sensors, which sense the load size for you (no way to choose your load size manually). Only problem is, the water does not come up over top of the clothes. (HE washers do this). I don't like that. And everything is digital. Just something else to make it break sooner (we shall see). I will say that it is a lot quieter than my old one. If I had to choose, and could have found one with the size I wanted, I would have gotten a plain old agitator style one. But so far, so good with this one I guess.

As with other reviews, this washer gets clothes very clean. I use a liquid detergent. I am not sure if those who have problems use a powder. But the liquid detergent is quickly mixed with the little amount of water used to create a concentrated cleaning solution. It may be that the powder detergents do not mix so quickly. The oxi dispenser takes the powder and works well. Love all the cycles and modifications you can quickly, easily, and logically make re: water temps, soil levels, etc. and how the machine will lock out some of these if making changes is inappropriate. Basically, it is impossible to make mistakes. I just pinned a chart up above the washer for my wife to initially use describing what each of the cycles was for since they were different than what she was used to following and this analog woman in a digital age has had no problems. I thought we would be using the Express cycle or the Deep Wash cycle but haven't. The cycles are not that long considering how much clothing you can put in at a time and the clothes get super clean without needing extra water. We do use the extra rinse routinely, but always have with all our washers in the past as well. Why 4 stars and not 5? Because after 3 weeks, I had to push my washer back 4" because it had "walked". Did not like having to push it back. Finally, as in another review for the dryer, ALL manufacturers of appliances have quality control problems overseas, especially with the electronics. If you get a lemon, it does not mean the appliance design is bad; just that you got the lemon. Return it for another immediately even if you have to do it more than once. Sears is great about that.
I had this thing for 3 months and so far no matter how much or little He soap is used, it leaves white gunk on the clothing...even after rinsing more than once without any soap at all. The clothing, even with less than 1/2 load don't even get fully wet. The technician was called and could not find anything we were doing wrong to cause this nor any residue left from any overuse of soap. After trying everything for 3 months, this finally went back and we're getting a front loader. I have bought Kenmore for years...1st major issue with it...and of course, this one is made by Whirlpool...a brand I would usually avoid. Save your money and sanity. Go with just about anything else.

Love this machine, and you Must Read the Manual. My sister and I are positively thrilled, we get the loads done and have empty baskets for days. This machine cannot be used like the old machines. You must read the manual and do exactly as it says. Love it, less water, less detergent and washing aids are used but the clothes come out beautifully done. Make sure to use the proper cycle, loaded as the manual says, don't put powder detergent on the outer inside on the bottom inside but only on the inner spinner, won't cake if put on the inner portion. Make sure you start modifying how much washing aids you are putting in. Too much detergent and other chemicals won't make the loads come out. I recommend doing test loads and see how the cycles run. The detergent, bleach and oxi channels in the side are used by the machine to run water so make sure nothing clogs them. We are going to have a low water summer so it may be a saving grace for our water. Lastly, you will end up running you dryer less as it spins the water out of the clothes efficiently. If the clothes are damp you can run another spin and get more water out before putting them in the dryer. If you feel you need another rinse you can pick the rinse and spin button and give them another rinse. Truly a computerized washing machine that knows what it is doing. I could go on and on.
I bought this to replace my Kenmore Front End Loader which broke. I have found that HE soap does not get rinsed well in this was. Not sure why, but I have owned this washer for less than a year and am cutting my loss via getting a front end loader.
I have never written a review, but after MONTHS of research and confusion about what washer to get, we finally settled on this 4.5 cu. ft. HE Kenmore and I am very pleased! We have always had Kenmore washers, but they never seem to make it to Consumer Reports faves. But the model before this one did, and I decided to give this one a try. I ruled out front load, even though they seem to get all the accolades, because of all the concerns about moldy doors, etc. We decided to try the HE top-load. It takes some getting used to, but not as much as I expected. After 2 months of using it, I AM SO HAPPY WITH THIS WASHER! BUY IT!! It holds a ton of clothes! I have 6 kids & I can fit one person's entire week's worth of laundry (a very full laundry basket) at one time--no problem! I have washed my queen comforter! I once fit about 12-14 towels at one time!! The clothes come out clean and smelling good. I have not had any issues with this machine or any clothes being destroyed. It helps to shake them out a bit before tossing them into the dryer. The cycles take a bit longer (~ 45-60 min.) than my regular top-loader, but you get used to it. I LOVE the window because it allows me to see how this type of machine works. I like that you can pause the machine if you want to add an item. It does have an express cycle if you want to wash something quickly, which does not seem to compromise the cleaning. And it is SUPER quiet! MUCH quieter than my other machine, and we have it next to our kitchen/family rm. My only two "complaints:" 1) It has a beeping sound to let you know when it is done, and I was hoping it had the more musical chiming alarms that other brands have. (Come on Kenmore--that would be easy to add to make this a perfect machine!!) 2) I LOVE doing laundry, and with this machine, I get so much done at once that I find myself looking for extra stuff to wash. So for all you who DON'T like doing laundry so often--this is the machine for you!
I was very skeptical about the high-efficiency models that did not have the conventional agitator. I chose this model because it has a "deep-water wash" option, and I was certain that I would use it all the time. The truth is, I feel like the clothes are clean without filling the tub with water. The cycles are longer than I was used to, but my clothes and bedding (even a king-size comforter) are getting clean and that's all I wanted. I've been very pleased with this model.
I returned my first Kenmore I purchased three days after receiving it because of the long 1 hour wash cycles. Then I repurchased this one with the EXPRESS cycle!!! I couldn't be happier!!! Love the see thru lid, express cycle and how quiet this machine is. AMAZING machine! Don't hesitate with this one!!! I also got a great deal on it! $637! Love this washer!!!!
I bought this machine this week, to replace my 15 year old Kenmore Elite machines; with the matching dryer. I have done to so many loads this week and it's the best! It has everything that my old machine had plus more. It's quiet, efficient, and does larger loads than my old machine. I would recommend this to everyone! I love it!!!
You can easily and accidentally drop a sock or other small laundry item in no man's land because the top opening does not line up with the drum. It's strange the engineers did not simply align the two. All you have to do to get your sock back is disassemble the unit from behind.
