My grill-happy boyfriend was so excited to get my "permission" to buy ANY grill in the outdoor department. Price being no obstacle, he fully reviewed each feature of this new searing grill - and he's been feeding me ever since! He loves the features, the ease to assemble and the nice pop of red in the yard (the hummingbirds are confused, though).
Less than two years after purchase my Kenmore grill is completely shot. The bottom tray has a rust hole the size of a basketball and three of four burner tube mounts are rusted completely off. The cooking grids are splitting apart from rust. The electronic spark does not work. Three of four gas valves do not work. Sears help line will only offer a 10% discount on buying another piece of junk and an apology. checking on-line reviews I find this to be prevalent among Kenmore grills. I would rate it zero stars if there was an option.
This grill works, & works well, but there's a problem-it's 4 burners are not directly under each grate. Therefore, to use just one grate, you have to use at least two burners. Also, if you want to really turn up the heat, you have to run three burners, or wait forever for two to do the job. My biggest problem, though, is that within a season of use, the grates, heat diffusers, & grease pan had all begun to rust. I keep it covered at all times between uses, & use the proper utensils, so I know it's not me. I will give Sears credit in that they honored the warranty & are sending new grates & heat diffusers. I'm just going to have to pamper them with kid gloves somehow so they don't suffer the same fate.
Our old grill died 2 years ago, and we've been waiting for a great deal on a great grill, and luckily found this one. The grill is very easy to assemble, and we were grilling in no time. It heats much faster, and gets much hotter than our old grill, and the temperature is easy to control. The electric start on the burners is a new design for us, and works well. A nice added feature are the front doors for storing underneath the grill.
This is the first grill that has a searing station in it. It works very well but you then need to move the meat to one of the other 3 burners. Side burner is nice for the other sides with the meal.
Assembly for the grill took less than 2 hours. I have used it to grill chicken breasts, hamburgers and hotdogs. Cooking is even and flare ups are minimal. Clean up is easy. Burner system makes it perfect for small dinner for 2 or for a crowd.
