Everything you need in a grill
Purchased this grill after exhausting research, Basically the same grill as C.R. ******** recommendation only in enameled red. Took ~ 2 hrs to assemble however all that is needed is a phillips head screwdriver. There is one thing I did different then the instructions and that is lowering the back brace using only 2 screws instead of the 4 in order to have quick easy removal of the drip pan. Having said that this grill heats very quickly and the porcelain coated cast iron grates are easy to clean and one of its best features in a grill of this price range. 2 things I recommend.... 1.) before cooking anything spray grates with Pam spray or equivalent this helps make them more non stick (much like grandma's cast iron frying pans) and 2.) Cover the drip pan with Aluminum foil this helps with clean up and also protects the aluminum drip pan from being eaten up by the juices and salts from your grilling, and the Aluminum foil is much easier to replace then hoping to find another drip pan

Pretty loking POOR burners
Great LOOKING grill but grills are all about the burners and this grill has problems - burners never get really hot, and the searing burner that is supposed to glow red hot like an electric space heater , shot out flames and made a very strange noise when used - I don't trust this burner and fear that it will explode. This is the second exact model I purchased- one in Ct in 2012 and one in FL in 2013. The first one had the searing burner blow after 11 months and Sears was great at sending out a repairman and ordering the part but it took several weeks and a error in ordering to actually get the correct part- by that time winter set in and I never really tried the replacement. The newest purchase surprised me because the searing burner immediately started out faulty- shooting up flames instead of actually being a glowing hot burner- and that noise- very strange- Shame on me for trying the same grill with Sears!

Overall's ****

So, I got this grill 2 years ago...and bought a cover on the same day. Rarely was this grill ever exposed the elements and spent the winters in the shed. I was tired of buying a new grill every 2 years. It was a good grill at a fair price to ensure it would last. I loved the look and was happy with the quality of cooking. Turns out the entire time the insides were rotting away. One of the gas tubes has broken loose and has to be "wedged" into place to keep the grill functioning. OK - things don't last forever...I'll just replace the parts. Looking like it is going to cost more to replace ALL the parts that have rusted than it did when I bought the grill! Not to mention....Kenmore has 465 grill model #'s....none of which are my Model #....

All burners rusted out 8 months

I have bought 2 Kenmore Gas Grills in 3 years and BOTH have RUSTED OUT inside. I bought the grill cover and the grills look great on the outside but the burners and the carryovers AND the floor rusted out completely. My wife bought this THING for me in late July 2014 - it is now March 2015 and ALL THE burners are completely rusted out as are the carryovers yes I said it again. I am so sickend by the horrible quality of these grills I can't speak. GOOGLE IT AND YOU WILL SEE 100s of pictures of NEW grills rusting out. It's like buying a 1975 Toyota with no rust protection. NEVER AGAIN EVER. I don't care about the warranty - the fact that these things are ALL rusting out like this is a clear sign of KENMORE's total lack of quality.

Will have to see if it last

Bought the same model 3 years ago only difference is the grease tray on the new model slides out. Which is good since the last one i had the grease tray rotted out and could not be replaced and in trying to fix that issue I discovered the burners were startig to rot out as well. With the money i paid for this I would expect it to last 5 years or more since it is covered and not outside in the elements

Don't buy this

I purchased this grill because of its features (side-burner, battery start, sear burner), its good looks and the Kenmore name. I use a grill a lot, even in the winter time, and at first I was reasonably satisfied. There were some cold spots on the grill surface, but nothing I couldn't work around, and the convenience of the side burner for frying outside was very welcome. Why the one star? After one year the electric start stopped working. After 16 months the deflectors rusted through, and then the metal base/drip pan developed a massive rusted hole. Finally after 18 months all three regular burners rusted through their welds and now lie at an angle beneath the also rusted through deflector and above the rusted through base/drip pan. All that's left that works is the sear burner and the side burner. If you look at other one star reviews you'll see the same story repeated over and over again. It still looks good, but is only marginally functional and may be somewhat dangerous given the fact that there's not much of a firewall left between the remaining burners and the gas tank. This is not a cheap grill and I thought Kenmore meant quality... but not in this case. You'd be better off buying a $100 grill and knowing you will have to replace it after two years, than buying this at three times the cost and still having to trash it after the same period of time.

Do Not Buy

I bought this grill 7 months ago . It has always had a cover and properly taken care of. It quit working so I called to have someone to come out to look at it cause it was still under warranty. Come to find out all the inside parts of the grill was rusted . That's why nothing was working. Ignite button on the inside of it etc.. But the outside really didn't have but a small amount of rust on the handle. Kenmore don't cover rust no matter what. Is a grill not suppose to be left outside ?? This is not my fault and I'm highly upset. A waste of 350$

Gas grill

Excellent grill. Love the searing burner option. Found out that you should not light the searing burner until you light the other burners first. The searing burner draws most of the gas and the other burners had trouble igniting.

I would recommend this product to a friend.

Piece of ****

Piece of **** wrapped in a pretty package! I bought this grill because I thought "Kenmore" meant quality, it looked nice & the color complemented my homes exterior. The poor design forces all the smoke into the cooks face, the burners never quite heated evenly & in less than 1 year, the burners & complete bottom of the grill disinegrated. Would have taken this back to the store, but too nasty, unstable & would have had to borrow or rent a truck.
