Within 4 months the grill rusted, temperature gage has been replaced and the handle has broken off. The product has inferior paint quality causing exposed metal and rapid rusting. The handle is being replaced for the second time...and dealing with the horrendous customer service that doesn't follow through or have the power to make any decisions had made buying this poor quality product a nightmare.
Bought grill 6/30/13 and uncovered grill in May 2014 to find the side handle rusting and 1 of cast iron grill tops rusting. Couldn't find receipt till 7/30 and was told out of warranty. Called store mgr in milford and was offered $15 in reward money. I also bought a cheaper grill on the same day and it is in great shape.WOW!

While the grill is beautiful and matched the color of my house perfectly, that is the extent of its good qualities. First, I thought the searing option was unique, so it made this grill stand out to me. But it was ultimately a waste of space on the grill because it was completely unusable. Even at the lowest temperature setting, it only served to quickly burn the food. (Maybe that's the purpose of searing, but it takes up far too much space on the grill to make it useful for our purposes.) Second, the grill cooked highly unevenly. Certain burners cooked slower than others at the same heat setting and then certain portions of burners cooked slower than other portions of the same burner. I thought it might have been the wind, but the same thing happened each time I grilled regardless of wind. It was just plain odd and incredibly frustrating to have food just about done and others on the grill almost raw that were all placed on the grill at the same time. Third, one of the doors kept flying open and would not stay closed. Another practical consideration is that the cast iron grates are very hard and annoying to clean. I hear stainless is easier, but it is definitely a trade-off. But the bottom line is that this grill has some fundamental issues. Luckily, I was able to take it back just in the nick of time. I ultimately upgraded to a higher-end Kenmore grill that I truly hope will function as promised. Returning the grill was a lengthy, dirty and taxing process. I will be sure to review that one once its up and running. Merry grilling!
This is my second review of this grill. I have had it for 14 months and have had time to fairly give an opinion. The searing burner seemed like a great thing to have. It doesn't sear as I had hoped. It will brown meat, fish and vegetables but it takes just as long as the regular burners. I wanted something that would give a quick sear to lock in the juices. The temp gauge no longer works. Stuck between 250 & 300. The flavorizer bars rusted the first season I used it. The drip tray has rusted out and there is now no way to hang the grease catcher which is now making a mess in the bottom of my grill. I do want to point out that this grill is kept clean and has been covered from day one when not in use. This is a nice looking grill with plenty of cooking space. The side burner is plenty powerful. No problems steaming a big pot of crabs! Just wish I didn't have to start buying replacement parts after only 1 year.
What brought me to the sears website today was to order replacement parts for this Kenmore Grill. After 2 years have to replace the grease catcher, searing burner, one cast iron grill panel, all 3 heat diffusers. The reviews on this site don't do the poor quality of this item justice. Many other complaints out there about the same issues and all the burners. The grill has been stored outside, covered when not in use. Taking all precautions to keep this from happening, but still rusted. Don't buy the service warranty $100 fee just to see if your parts fall under warranty.
Took me awhile to put this together. If you have the option then have it assembled. Otherwise, its not hard to put together just takes a little bit. The 3 burners are good but there is definitly a hot zone over the two left burners. I have to put the sear burner on to level out the heat but still works great.
I have only used the grill a handful of times as I purchased 2 weeks ago. I have been very happy with the performance of this grill. It heats quickly and keeps even temps. Cranked the heat and had the thermometer pegged quickly. This is my first grill with a sear burner and have had fun experimenting with that too. Shelves are a bit flimsy and can be bent easily so be careful there. Time will tell on the construction and materials but I could not afford the Elite series so I'm not expecting miracles.
