Good looking grill but the table support brackets have a design flaw that causes the bracket to deform and the welds to break. This defect causes the legs to not go vertical once unfolded. Extremely frustrated as the brackets are designed in such a way that a simple inside 90 degree metal brace spot welded on brackets to support the vertical load of the legs when folded would have solved design problem. Instead the weight of the legs cause the welds to break and the brackets to deform.

Really not one to write reviews but I just piked up my new grill and I am extremely disappointed. Definitely not a $500.00 grill even though I did catch a good sale. Very flimsy and cheaply made. They did assemble the grill for me, however I would have expected significantly better quality from a grill retailing for $500.00. Unfortunately I probably will be returning this grill because I do not see it lasting more than a year or two. I think that Sears could have done much better on this Kenmore product.
Had the same experience as m76 and kareninpa with food burning up. I have a lot of experience with grilling and have had this grill for several months. In that time about every 4th or 5th meal ends in disaster. Chicken, beef, pork, Lamb -- none are immune.

I've been having this pit for about a year now and I am very pleased thus far. Before this pit, I had a hand-me-down, 8 year old Viking Grill from my Father-in-law that didn't cook food any better than this pit. Now, after reading other reviews, people say how it flares up, the drip pan rusted out, etc. You have to know how to regulate your temperature as well as keep it clean. What I mean by regulating temperature is just because you have 4 burners, doesn't mean you have to use all 4. A lot of times cooking with only 2 burners will keep your temp at 300 degrees and you can regulate your flame fairly easily. If you want to have a higher temp to grill steaks, for instance, then yes, use all 4 burners on high then back down once you get to say 500 degrees. Secondly, when I say, keep it clean, just burning it off after you cook and brushing the grates isn't enough. To get it to stop flaring up and to increase the life of the pit, yes keep your grates clean but also clean your bottom drip pan every so often. Leaving the drippings cake up will cause the bottom of the pit to rust or rot out rather quickly. I use my pit at least once a week if not more, so that drip pan can build up rather quickly. Every 3 or 4 months, I pull out the grates, heat deflectors, and the burners and clean them well with Easy Off Grill cleaner. Then I use the Easy Off on the bottom drip pan and scrape everything out with a paint scraper. Once I'm finished, I coat the bottom pan, the burners, the heat deflectors, and the grates with either Pam or Cooking Oil. This basicly keeps the metal from rusting like a black iron pot, for instance. The salt and seasonings on your food is what causes the rust. So the longer you let that sit on the metal, it will eat through it over time. Also as an FYI, be careful with Easy Off. It will discolor the paint on the steal components. With all of this being said, I've always been a Sears fan. When I went pick up the pit, the box that it came in didn't even have a sratch. For the price, I was impressed with the construction, the packaging, and the overall quality of the grill. I would, hands down, recommend this pit to anyone. As long as its properly maintained, this pit will last for a long time.
It was for my husband for Christmas. He put it together Dec 27, and he grilled steaks on it Sat, Dec 28th - it worked great! He LOVES it! One of the first Christmas presents that was: 1) total surprise; 2) something he liked; 3) something he needed!!! Thanks!

Extra points for the fold-out table, which has come in handy (who knew!). My husband complains that the knobs are on the loose side and its hard to know that all burners are on the same setting, if needed. Overall, we love this grill.

This BBQ is awful! We bought it to replace a 9-year old floor model Kenmore grill. The first time we used this grill, we noticed that anything over low heat was far too hot. We were forced to cook everything on low. After the 5th use, everything burned. There was grease on the pan, but nothing excessive (what one would expect after 5 uses). Then the ignition switch would not work correctly after one month of use. The last straw was when I tried to grill chicken thighs and the entire grill went up in flames- a real fire hazard. I am lucky the house didn't catch fire. Luckily Sears took this grill back, no questions asked. The salesman on the floor said I would not find another grill which would last more than 4 years unless it was a Weber. I got my money back and bought a Weber from another store. Sorry, Sears.
When the grease drips there is only a small grease dripping pan and the grease never runs into it. It stays on the bottom of the grill and catches fire every time I start it up. Every time I use this I have to remove the coverings from the burners to try and clean the bottom of the grill. The bar where the flames come out blocks from cleaning it properly. The metal bottom of the grill looks like it is wearing away pretty thin from all the grease fires. This is the only piece between the flames and the gas tank. Very uneasy every time I use this. This is only 4 months old and it looks like it's about 20 years old. I am returning this and hopefully can find a better grill that not only cooks well but allows for easy clean up.
